Hello
I have purchased a second hand Nexus. It is rooted and has got custom rom. Also Teamwinner or so is installed. When i boot into recovery to install some other rom it exits with error 7. Same when i try to update the teamwinner to the newest version.
Any idea what to try?

i remember seeing error 7 before on a rom i tried to flash.. i was using CWM so its not the recovery's fault. turns out there was a problem with the rom...
so find another rom to flash would be my answer for now.
The problem is that i get this error whatever i tried to flah. Even cwm or some other rom result in same error

What procedure are you using to flash? What file are you trying to flash and where did you get it from?
I start up the phone using volume down and power. Then in teamwinner i chose install zip and then the file
so far have tried, all downloaded from here or linked from here, those files
CWM-Touch-6.0.2.5-DJ
Hellybean-20130405-crespo
TWRP-2.4.4.0-DJ
jellyshot_crespo-v3.3
nothing works. all of them exist with error 7

Fair enough about the roms, but why cant i even install cwm? This shows me just the error 7 too
I wouldn't be surprised if your recovery is either not for your device or not even a flash able zip.

Where did you get that CWM? http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager? If so those are img files, for flashing from fastboot. But I have no idea what "DJ" is for. To flash from recovery it needs to be packaged in a flashable zip.
Or you can install CWM from the ROM Manager app. Or TWRP from GooManager.
quite frankly i wouldnt use CWM. The UI is annoying as hell, and it tends ot be a lot slower, at least from my own experience.
I recommand TWRP, http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/90 latest version here for maguro.
if you have adb set up, installing twrp is cake, simply open adb and type:
1) adb reboot bootloader
2) fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img <-----assuming you are in the directory of that img file you just downloaded, and TWRP is just the name of the img file, its usually attached with version, so i would rename it for easier access.
3) after you flashed it just boot into recovery and start flashing your new rom.
If all else fail.....use the toolkit and flash factory image for a fresh start, i havnt failed with factory image yet
I have done this before but I used what seems to be a different version of freegee (didn't have the option to backup efs or flash TWRP) so I unlocked my device and after it had completed I rebooted and then powered down. I put my phone in to CWM and flashed the stock debloated ROM. After flashing this ROM I was stuck in a bootloop. I ended up using LG Tool to get it back to stock. I thought it must have been a random once off issue so I tried again with Freegee, same thing happened, only this time no matter what I do I can not get LG Tool to fix the issue as it keeps giving me the error of low battery even though it is at full capacity. I then tried to use BC2 to flash a kdz file and I get the same error. I have since tried factory resetting, sideloading different recoveries, ROMs and basebands without boot. I have tried to use LG Tool about 50 times and it is not working. I have changed USB ports, reinstalled drivers etc, just keeps giving me that error. Yes I have set permission in the app and I am using Windows 7

Thank you, I will use that if I ever get LG Tool to stop throwing me the low battery warning. What a stupid program to not give you the option to bypass it. Surely there is a way I can do this. My battery is at 99%. I just flashing madmack hacked and lockified recovery and now I can't even get in to recovery to do sideloads. I am running out of options, my only way is to get LG Tool or B2C to work
EDIT* I have recovery back. GRR why is this stupid message about low battery keep popping up

have not tested this from cm rom but works from any stock. bytheway i have optimus G not pro
from recovery adb push rom.zip (your rom)
adb push rom.zip /sdcard/0
(0 required for cwm and cm10.2)
flash that rom
enable debugging
run lgflash tool one that supports large files or the online one it will pass the battery and auto restart in download mode there it will give error just unplug replug and retry and it will be flashed this time.

I am unsure what this is but I am interested? Thanks, I ended up doing what I was trying to do in the first place and IT WORKED
To anybody that faces the same issue:
in recovery sideload install madmacks TWRP file attached below
after that is installed flash CM11 using the same sideload
The command in adb is adb sideload (your file name in here without the brackets.zip) You must include .zip
It is strange because it didn't work the first 3 times I flashed the ROM and on the fourth it worked, so keep trying
i can fix bootloop to cwm or recovery just 2 minutes. but u have to backup your stock recovery fírst before install cwm or twrp.
so thiss step to solve after u have boot loop. that u need to restore back your stock recovery on mmcblk0p28 then reboot. you will stuck at factory software repair. keep ur fone connected with the computer and type adb reboot. then u can boot into android os. and final step. u reinstall your custom recovery again and Enjoy. this fixing not for newbie and im typing it on my fone. someone can make automation script to help People solve it im lazy

Thanks for trying to help. I am not running stock and can not get a stock ROM to work (with locked bootloader obviously)
LG Tool is requesting for a TOT file which the E988 doesn't have, I have tried using E98810D_00.kdz file in the software field but it is not recognising the cab file. The DLL file is recognised but I don't know what else to do from there.
LG Mobile Support Tool keeps failing on me due to low battery error which as you can see, I have been trying my hardest to get it to work. Battery is at 99% but it still won't flash! - I am stuch with a custom ROM and a dodgy unlocked bootloader due to the latest release FreeGee.
I tried the old file you attached but it fails to download the image file to unlock my bootloaders, I guess because it is already unlocked.
What I need now is to find a way to relock my bootloader that doesn't involve LG Tool/LG Mobile Tool and then try the old FreeGee app again. Or I find a way to get passed this stupid battery warning

First try to use LG Mobile Tool. All files and instructions found here CLICK ME
If that doesn't work the follow the instructions I posted earlier and it will get your phone booting again. As for getting back to stock and unlocking the bootloaders without causing kernel issues, I am still waiting for a response from Seth. He has been making a lot of changing as this is a known problem. The latest version is supposed to work like it used to now.

Thanks! This worked 100%. Something's really up with the freegee CWM, totally useless. Had 3 days of a headache till I saw this post. I used to be a CWM guy, now TWRP all the way...! The interface is touch based and much easier to handle than CWM. Best of all it doesn't go into a bootloop! Cheers! :good::good:
Hi.
As the title says, I have bricked my GPad and am stuck in Fastboot mode. I am able to pull up a command line on my computer and reboot the device from there, but that's about all I've tried. I have read online that there are commands for flashing a boot.img file, but I can't find one and I don't know how to do it. Do I wipe the device from my computer first, or just flash the .img file? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
God Bless, Mark

I was rooted, running 4.4.2. I tried to flash 4.2.2 aboot.img with Flashfy, so I could flash TWRP recovery. Didn't work out.
Flashing a recovery is what I don't know how to do in fastboot mode. Can you walk me through it? Also, I don't know which recovery to flash.

The directions for installing are in the link I gave you, showing to push (put) the files in the proper places for your device.
You must have ADB installed on your home computer. There is a guide on how to do this in the general section ( second sticky post), or, if using Linux, the first post.
After ADB is installed, both the Loki patch and the recovery.IMG will need to be in the platform_tools folder in the ADB folder. In Linux this would be /opt/adb/platform_tools.
In either case, to install, you must open a terminal (prompt) in the path of the install, meaning you must open the terminal in platform_tools.
Then follow the commands in the recovery post to install both Loki, and the recovery.img

OK, Sleekmason, I put everything where it should be, but when I use the "adb" commands (adb push loki_flash...) I get "device not found" in terminal. As I said, I can reboot the GPad using "fastboot reboot" command, so it sees it in fastboot mode, but not in adb mode. I loaded the drivers during the adb install, so I'm pretty sure all of them are there. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a way to push the files to the GPad with fastboot?

not saying you should, but you could always try to flash the recovery just to see if it would work.
same problem, but how I fixed it
How I got bootloop'd - I was on a trip and tried to root/flash twrp from a chromebook and as you can tell the process did not work. I ended up trying to flashfly a 4.2.2 boot.img over a 4.4.2 setup. Not the best idea. Once I returned to my windows machine, I was able to flash via adb/fastboot tools. So I found this thread and wanted to help anyone else if they arrived here and read thru the posts.
I was stuck at the fastboot text base screen on my Gpad (VK810). I dl'd the LG tools, the LG driver & tried a KDZ recover, but I was unsuccessful. Fastboot would control my device, reboots worked, but when I run fastboot devices, I only saw a single ? where the device serial number is. After a few attempts at various methods, I ended up guessing which file I had to flash.
After dl'ding a few roms from here and extracting them, it took the boot.emmc.win and flash my boot.img with that. worked with the following code and now I'm up and running.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.emmc.win
followed by
Code:
fastboot reboot
this worked for me and could work for you, but I can only say that it worked when I was able to access my tablet via fastboot commands.
Downgrade aboot
dd if=/sdcard/aboot.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot
exit
exit[/HTML]
I am not able to do the above after installing Lollipop because can't get root, specifically can't update binaries in supersu and no su. Also Adbd Insecure not working. Now I am able to get into fastboot, strangely thru factory reset. Can I use 'fastboot flash aboot aboot.img' instead. Many thanks.

Can someone please send me a link to where I can get the info to flash TWRP ON my D850 running stock lollipop rooted? Thank you. I've tried one method with no success using the flashify app.
I just tried the adb method, the computer recognized my device, I typed all the correct commands but yet when I try to boot into recovery even with the adb command I get a black screen after the LG logo and the LED blinks red and blue and I have to hold the power button to get it to reboot normally. Please help. Thanks.
Try the TWRP Manager app from the Play Store.

Hi there.
Check this link out by @777jon for TWRP 2.8.6.1 for G3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-2-8-2-0-t2966129/page13
Alternatively you can also go to the TWRP Official website. Just make sure the file you download is for your phone and model. Plenty of info in both these links https://twrp.me/Devices/
If I helped you hit the THANKS button.
I flashed the custom recovery (TWRP) via Imageprep.
Therein, this specific post has what we need for the D850. There are other more 1-click"ish" methods, but I prefer this as you get a little more into the weeds and can "see" what's going on; and it gives you more experience with the command line and using ADB which is important. (BTW I'm using v1.4, NOT the current v1.5 as I'm not certain it works for the D850-- AND there's a video you can watch of 1.4 in action.)
Read my post there for my experience.
Hi. I have a weird issue. I have a D855 phone which is running on kitkat v10n. I thought of Upgrading it to official 5.0 or 6.0 firmware and decided to check for the option software update in my phone. But I didn't find any. So i thought of installing TWRP recovery to my phone. and I flashed through flashify and cant boot into recovery menu but i can see fastboot menu started and some other 2,3 lines at the top left corner of the phone. I cant even reset the phone also as doing that going into same fastboot menu but when i pull the battery and place it it is booting.
The real thing starts from here. I want to check whats wrong with my phone and found that actually my phone motherboard is LS990.Not D855. So I came to know that as i wrong flashed the recovery, I am getting fastboot mode. So can I flash tot file directly now or not? if doing so will it result in hard/soft brick or in boot loop? Please help me to upgrade from kitkat to lollipop without any damage to my phone. Expecting a resolution from you. Thank u..
Can you still boot into download mode or not?
You did not see the upgrade because either your sd card is full or too small for update to fit. Happened to me once. When you sort this up, make some room on your sd card and then let the OTA do the thing.

If you can boot into download, it would be possible to flash kdz. Just you must find the right one for your phone!!
Edit: you will have to use LG flash tool. LGUP is only for D855.
Post here before you do anything.

Post here before you do anything.

no.for ls990 there is no kdz i think so.only tot and dll files.but i am doubtful in flashing anything before fixing the fastboot menu as i could brick my device if anything wrong happens..
Ufff.
This is the hard way but at least first you check your memory for errors, and somewhere in the text it clearly says that fastboot is a no-go.
http://open-freax.fr/guide-unbrick-your-lg-g3/
I personally would go with a download mode and tot files, AND DISBLED ALL THE THINGS THAT WANT TO KILL PROCESSES. like antiviruses, win-defender etc.
Trust me, I know how you feel, maybe some more ideas drop into the thread.

Thank u..

So lets explain few things first. You can safely flash tot files via download mode. Tot file contains your stock recovery partition as well. So everything will be flashed to stock. So if you find tot file to flash for your model fell free to flash it.
Instead what I would suggest is for you to flash TWRP, and after that flashing Lollipop zip with TWRP.
Here is how:
You download TWRP zip for LS990 from here if you are sure that's your model:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347763136
then you extract recovery.img file from the zip,
then to flash it either use flashify or these adb commands:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
Ofc if you use these exact adb commands you need to place recovery.img to root of your /sdcard.
So now you confirm that you have a working TWRP. Try to boot into it.
If it succeeds you have Sprint Lollipop files provided here:
http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G3/LS990/stock_partitions/ZVA
You only need these files: system.img, boot.img, modem.img, rpm.img, tz.img
IMPORTANT: boot.img you download from here not from the link above:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3165683&d=1423941988
After downloading them and placing them in root of sdcard, boot to TWRP open terminal and write these:
dd if=/sdcard/system.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system
dd if=/sdcard/zv8_boot_fixed.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot
dd if=/sdcard/modem.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modem
dd if=/sdcard/rpm.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/rpm
dd if=/sdcard/tz.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/tz
That's it.
Credit for these files goes to the OP of this thread @autoprime

I assumed that system.img was provided in links above. It isn't.
So here:
http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G3/LS990/stock_partitions/ZVB/
Download zips only. Flash them, no need to use dd command. It is prerooted Lollipop. Again credits to @autoprime.
And perhaps if you would like to check Marsmallow here's a thread:

I would wait for MM to settle a bit, some guys have icons problem, some LTE, some stuff is downgraded to work properly. How ever you go, you will not get clean MM. Only if you do not want root, and that is a no-no for me.

You checked Marsmallow post, that's how it is. I have d855 so I have official Marsmallow, cant tell you about that port. You can always test it if you wish then revert back.
Yes flash zips only. All those partitions are provided in them (LG-LS990ZVB-Flashable.Modem.RPM.TZ.zip; LG-LS990ZVB-Flashable.System.Boot.zip).

I flashed it but after booting android process is force closing for every 5 seconds and its showing the same message. So I went into recovery menu, wiped dalvik cache and cache, data and system and made a factory reset again and rebooted it. But my phone stuck on LG logo only. Now i can't even enter into TWRP Recovery . What to do?? Flashing tot is only the solution? I can go into download mode..
Edit: I tried going to TWRP manually. First I tried by going to recovery mode by watching a video showing holding volume down+power button and release after the LG logo is seen and within half second again should hold back. That didn't work for me. I only holded volume down+power button untill I see "Recovery mode loading" screen and after 2 seconds it taken me to TWRP. I successfully re-flashed back the zip files again. Thanks for your help. but i am getting invalid sim and showing hands free activation on my phone.. So should I need to unlock it?? now big trouble with the sim problem. Can u provide any solution??
Edit 2: Even this I solved myself.. thanks a lot.Hitting thanks button

Troublesome. I have no knowledge what "hands free activation" is. I belive it's something connected with Sprint?
As for the invalid SIM, was your phone SIM locked? Where did you buy it and why did it even have d855 system flashed onto it if its ls990?
Can you make calls and have you made a backup of your old system in TWRP before flashing?

I followed one link and replaced some files and got the signal back. But I am unable to access data in my phone. also in settings i am seeing activate this device. I disabled hands free activation thing which is very annoying. But flashing any other lollipop rom, can I use data in my phone? Can you suggest any best lollipop rom like cloudy or other than cloudy?
