I bought my Note 10.1 2014 edition a few days ago and was wondering if there was a way to sneak Office for Android phones on it. It's rooted.

Would it work to take the apk from phone and install on tablet?
I use the APK Downloader extension for Chrome to download apks from the Play Store and install from sdcard. You could probably do what ddavtian suggested and use a backup program to export the apk from your phone too.
Thanks!

My man! I'll try that.

I have Verizon Galaxy Note 2. I have rooted and unlocked the bootloader. Currently I'm on Beanstown106's ROM version 7.
I always install apps by accessing playstore from the PC. But after the custom ROM installation, if I click on Install for any app, it doesn't come to my phone. I can only install apps directly from the phone play store app.
Is this a known issue with custom ROMS or specific to Beanstown106 ROM? Is there any fix I can do myself?

I haven't tried this particular ROM so it's a shot in the dark, but have you tried the market tools from Titanium Backup? Also, is the PC version of the Play Store recognizing your phone correctly - does it show the correct model? You could also try removing your google account and setting it up again. see if that works.

Ah! Thanks for that! I hadn't checked the phones in Web Google Play settings. There was another device newly added, so I had two SCH-I605 models and I was always installing to the default one which was from the older ROM!
Now installing to the new listing of SCH-I605 works fine!
I guess everytime I install a new ROM, it'll add another SCH-I605 model in the settings!
You can see, when it was used just behind listing of device.
After 6 month older one may disappear.

I'd asked the same thing months ago. I've yet to find a direct method. What I've done was to install things to my phone or tablet, then sideload them. Or if you are just wanting to backup the apk, there are many backup apps out there.

I wanted that to try sideloading app's from Amazon App store that are marked as non compatible with Fire TV, but few of then should work fine..
Maybe some apps that require Google Account does not require in the Amazon App Store (not tested)

The best way to do that is to download them to a compatible device then sideload them. f you are rooted, you can install the Google Play Store too and access many more apps.

An Alternative method is to install them on a compatible device from the Play Store, and then extract them with an apk extractor, also from the Play Store.
It's still a mystery (to me) why Amazon hasn't figured out what's compatible with the fire and what's not.
Yeah, but the main problem is that some apps require google account (google services must be installed) and some of then does not require that in the amazon app version..
My device version can't be rooted... i got it with an rooteable version, then i turned it on (without internet) and after reading few tutorials in how to root it, after few hours it started updating automatically and i was not able to cancel it (IT WAS WITHOUT INTERNET) ¬¬

Then your only choice is to use a different device to install them on from the Amazon Appstore, then sideload them to the FTV. It's easy to do. There are several apps that will sideload an installed app on one device directly to the FTV.

Correct. So I guess I've been lucky. I'm not rooted and so far I've been able to install everything I've wanted to install. Except, of course, the Play Store itself. Which IMO, is only an inconvenience.
What is it you want to install? What do you want your FTV to do that it doesn't?
I install the app on my tablet, and then use AGK to sideload to my FireTV stick. My tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, running ICS 4.0.4, and won't run Kodi for example (it's not a Neon device). This method is how I was able to get Kodi installed on the Fire stick. Of course the problem is getting the app installed on the tablet if it's listed as non-compatable by Anazon. As for making backups of apps on my tablet, I use ES Task Manager. Free and works like a charm.
asphalt 8 amazon apk
I have a similar problem. I have a fire hd 6 and no other amazon device. I would like asphalt 8 on it but it says it is incompatible. I cant believe this quad-core tablet couldn't handle asphalt when my moms old single core acer can. If I get the apk from my nexus 7 (also shows as incompatible with asphalt in amazon store) I get a no license error. I bought the game on the amazon site so if anybody has the apk I would appreciate it. Thanks
I just released an extension for Chrome for downloading APK files from Amazon Appstore directly on your PC. You can check this thread for more information
So most of you on this forum by now will have seen how to install the Google Apps on the Amazon Fire HD 8 & 10, however that method required you to hook up to a PC and run a few commands. Sure, quick and simple, but what about those who can't run ADB? Those who dont have a PC? Well, there is ANOTHER way. I managed to put together ALL the main Google 5.0 (not 5.1) apps and packaged them into a few easy-to-access ZIPz. Of course, some of these apps (like Google Search, and Play Store) will need updating. And in this guide, ill be showing you
HOW TO INSTALL AND UPDATE THE GOOGLE APPS ON AMAZON FIRE HD 8 + 10
NOTE : This method has only been tested on a rooted device. I am unsure whether this method will work on an unrooted device, so if you are unrooted PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
Step 1. Download the .zips provided from down below and extract somewhere on your device's SD card.
Step 2. Open the extracted folders.
Step 3. Install all the .apk's inside.
Step 3.5: Go to this link and download the Google Play Services APK.
Step 4. Once they are all installed, open the Play Store.
Step 5. Go into the menu, and tap on the version number.
Step 6. The app will update, so wait about 30 seconds, then restart.
Step 7. Update the rest of the Google apps, and install the other google play apps.
And there you have it! Google apps on your Amazon Fire!
This method was tested successfully on a rooted Amazon Fire HD 10.

Doesn't work on unrooted 8.9 Fire HDX 5.3.1
This thread is confusing because a NEW Fire HD 8 tablet was just released. Very confusing because new September tablet is running 5.3.1.1 and a friend just bricked his new device following data of outdated inapplicable threads. Methinks that posters need to specify Amazon Fire Tablet HD8 2016, 5.3.1.1
You all do a great job and this will make it even better! Keep up the great work!!!
are you saying this will not work on the new HD 8?

I used this on my Fire Tablet HD 8 inch (newest version). Took less then 5 minutes and is straight forward. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7bpRcnBRmY
When I try to install the apk, it states "app not installed".
I have completed this a while back with out issue. My new question is how can I login with a different Google account? I just got an account for my son, and he uses the device, yet I cannot clear the data and login as him.
Edit: I ended up clearing data on all Google things, uninstalled all Google things from zip, reinstalling. It then let me use a different account.
The simplest way to add extra accounts is to install the Gmail app and add in your extra accounts. Once added you can delete the Gmail app.
I have a question about this. For those of us with root enabled, which of the above apps do I want to convert to system apps? To be more like a 'normal' Android device. I remember from years back with my Archos tablets that some apps could just be copied, that is the apk file, directly to /system/app but others had to be run and installed first before copying. So I'm assuming that just blindly copying isn't the way to do things.
Hi All,
I have a requirement which I have not been able to figure out. I have the Firetv Generation 2 with the latest OS. I also have the NVidia Shield and the Infomir's Stalker App purchased there. When I move the Extracted APK to the firetv, it installs ok but then starts off and brings a popup that the license file of google play is missing.
Is there a way I can bring the license file the application is looking for on the firetv or
can I install google play and install it through that?
There is no Firetv version of the application. Any help is much appreciated.

Post a link to the file and I'll see if I can strip the gplay from it.
Edit: never mind, I found the app and realized its a licence issue. Won't touch it here. Good luck.

Alternatively, Is there a way to root the box and or install Google Play and get it through that? I saw a guide to install Android TV Fully but that I believe requires Root. The Last time I rooted my firetv years ago, I bricked it and I have two bricked firetv's in the closet. Except for this app, I don't have any need to root.
You can install google play services to get apps that require it to run, but you can't sign in to get past the licence check. Not without root.

The last rootable firmware for FTV 2 was 5.2.1.1.

hi. I've just sent you a PM.
So Disney plus launched today. I am on Verizon unlimited so I got a free 12 months. I went to install the app from the playstore and I got the 'Your device isn't compatible with this version' error. I'm on the latest ASJ8 build. Anyone else out there experience this? The only thing I can think of is maybe because I am on the beta google play services? I tried sideloading the apk also but it won't install. I can still go through the website so it isn't a huge deal right now but would like the app to work.
I found an apk that would sideload on my phone so got it installed anyways. Still don't know why its showing as not compatible in play store.
Yea same here cant download the app. Could be a mishap on their end. Doesnt surprise.
Interesting, it installed on mine
Installed on mine. Sprint Note 10+
I installed disney+ app from playstore.
T-Mobile
Installed from the playstore just fine for me as well (Verizon).

Same. Had no problem installing on mine. I've seen this all over the place today, though...not sure why it's not working for all of us unless it's a region thing.

The one I downloaded was from apkpure.com and downloaded whatever the latest version was at the time. I also had to download the pure apk installer on their website because their files are in .xapk format. Installed from there with no issues. You can uninstall the pure apk installer program after you are done.
My problem seems to have fixed itself as originally after I installed if I pulled up disney+ in the playstore it would still tell me it wasn't compatible. There error is gone now and the app updated through the playstore. So a glitch on disney or googles end seems like the culprit as I haven't changed anything else.
Hopefully the file from there will work for you if you haven't tried already.
I had the same problem on my S10+, but that was because I was on the OneUI 2.0 beta, which fails the SafetyNet check for DRM. Sideloading the APK from Apkpure worked like a charm, and then I ended up going to the Note 10+, which I had no issues installing from the Play Store on that device.
I can't download the file from apkpure. No result found
