Camera glass - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Anybody had issues with the lense getting scratched easy? Any screen protectors for it?

Well, the first thing I would recommend is to never put anything over the camera lens. It will come out looking like a gnarly instagram filter.
Second, the lens is recessed from the back of the phone slightly, so it shouldn't scratch when laid on a surface. Make sure you aren't putting it in sand or anything.

If you have your phone in a case it should provide enough depth to keep your camera lens away from the surface of anything you lay it on. Out of all the phones I had which is like 5 ( I know I'm a lightweight lol) only scratched my bolts camera lens.
If worried about scratching it and don't want a case then carry a piece of cloth with you to lay on.

Even though you can't remove the protective glass cover on the camera (on my previous phone it was a part of the back cover itself), it's still just a protective cover...Meaning you should feel free to use a soft cloth or such and buff that spec out. If its' persistent, use a screen cleaning liquid if you want to be anal about it (I just lick my finger and rub out any specs myself, then wipe it down with a cloth).

DIY camera lens protector

I think the camera on the HOX is quite prone to scratches due to the way it protrudes from the phone's back.
I don't really like screen protectors but I got one with the Nillkin cover.
I decided to make a camera protector.
I cut a circle from the screen protector. I started with a circle larger than the camera lens and then started trimming it, a little bit every time. Each trim I measured it against the camera until it fitted.
All this time I kept the film on both sides of the screen protector, and always remember which side is 1 and which is 2.
After I finished trimming, I took film No. 1 off, put the circle im place and removed film No. 2.
Now I have a protecting cover to the camera lens.

Does it mess up the pictures in any way? Do you have before and after pictures by any chance?

The protector is very clear. I don't see any difference in the pictures. I don't have any before and after.
Screen protectors are not desinged with optical performance in mind because they are really close to the screen and distortions will be minimal. But I don't think putting one on your lens is such a good idea, you might not notice anything because the HOX isn't a DSLR, but still, what's the point if you're using an image quality reducing device to protect it from potential image quality reducing damages?

risky
Because I had to open my phone to fix my WiFi antenna I removed the lens and lay a circle of unsoldered solder in the lens housing then put the lens on top of it so now it sits about 3-4mm inset inside rather than being flush.I wouldn't recommend you go around opening your phones unless you know what your doing tho because I wish I hadn't as I damaged my volume up ribbon

Is the S3's camera lens recessed from the back cover?

Planning to order my S3 here pretty soon and was wondering if the camera is recessed at all? I'm using the S2 right now and the camera lens protrudes slightly so it runs the risk of scratching the lens when place on a table, etc.
Just want to know so I can order a case, bumper, or skin to protect the protrusion. I actually plan to run no case at all, because I feel that it takes away from the overall feel of the phone from oem. I've always had cases on my phones and I think it's time to just rock it how it's meant to be. Thanks!

it protrudes slightly, but has a bezel. even the thinnest case will cover it. plus it's not actually the lense glass. the actual lense is recessed several millimeters

Camera glass

Is anyone else concerned about the glass in the camera getting scratched easily. I can already see some scratches on mine on the very first day. It's only been in my pocket and on my desk. I usually place it on top of papers though.

Have you removed the plastic protector over it ?
I didn't have a plastic on it. I doubled checked too

are you sure? I had a note which also had an exposed camera and no issues for 1.5 years

same here, i already have few scratches there
Are you sure?
I had the S3 for close to a year. With a similar design, I don't not have a scratch on my camera glass. I used my S3 naked and toss it around quite frequently.

Yup I'm sure. My S3 has a few scratches on the camera too. Not major ones.
I'll take some pictures of both cameras on each phone later

Isn't there a TPU that has the lips around the camera slightly raised so when it's in your pocket or on a flat surface the lens isn't touched?
I just got mine a few hius ago and just looked at the glass and there a a few light scratches on it already. This isnt gonna be good. I work at a body shop. Its going to get destroyed if I dont find a case that protects it

I've been worried about it too. I was hoping to get a screen protector that goes on the camera.
does anyone know if the full body shields also cover the camera.

I have the zagg full body shield and it does not cover the camera.
Seriously... Of all the things to have wrong with it, why does it have to be the camera glass? I would rather have creaking than a weak camera cover! I have NO scratches on my S3's camera... Why would they waste so much money on high end optics and then cheap out on the glass?! >_<

I saw that post but if you can get it off with your fingernail, then it will come off over time in the pocket. Poor design...
Yeah it is a bad design. they did it so the phone could be thinner. they can make the rest of the components smaller, but not the optics. That's why they stick out

Well the camera sticks out on my S3 as well but it hasn't scratched at all. I have an Incipio case on it (soft/hard shell) but it doesn't protect the camera from my keys and I regularly pocket the thing. From the sound of it, the S4 is extremely prone to scratches.

I think the issue is when you place the phone down on a surface, the camera lays flat on it and it gets scratched. If you put a case, most of them are thick enough and go over the height of the camera glass.
Sent from my SGH-M919
After looking at it again this morning mine has a clear protector over it with a small hole in the center for the lens. Thats where the light scratches are. Im gonna leave that on as long as it will stay. But im still worried about it. I got a pastel case for it yesterday that slightly syicks out further than the camera and hopefully when my otterbox case comes in it will protect it more

That would be all fine and dandy if it wasn't for the fact that the first two weeks I had my phone, I didn't have it in a case. It was in my jean pocket with lighters and keys. It came through flawlessly and I have never scratched a camera lens - it seems like this one is so scratchable that you could easily scratch it badly. Just seems like a stupid oversight.

Help fixing scuffed rear camera lens

Can anyone give me a cheap way of fixing the camera lens. All my pictures are pretty blurry.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
If it were me, I would try using some buffing compound for cars. I have never had to try this before, so this may work horribly. It seems like your only option, though.
Is this lens glass or plastic? I would think that would make a difference.
Oh it's definetly plastic from what I can tell...My soft T-shirt scuffed mine the first time i didn't have a micro fibre cloth handy.
Been thinking about trying something on mine too now that they've gotten a little worse but dread making it worse lol.
You could replace the battery cover which includes the lense. They seem to run between $50-60. Such as http://www.ptsupermarket.com/origin...rear-battery-door-back-cover-replacement.html
