Does anyone know if the USB plug on this dock can rotate to be compatible with the nexus 5?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I believe it can, I remember seeing these in Best Buy a while ago, and the demo unit had 2 knobs on the sides that allowed the USB to rotate.
Don't take my word for it though.
i don't have that exact model but i have one of the fidelio series speakers and it can rotate forward or back and the two knobs are to adjust for height of the phone in order to stabilize it so it doesn't tip left or right.
Awesome, thanks for the response. I checked out the Fidelio model on amazon and they do show the USB rotating. I think that's the one I'll order.

Anyone use a good Universal Car Dock that will work with the GNex?
Amazon seems to have a decent selection. I just ordered an Exomount. The have a demo video on their site and it looks pretty good.

I ordered the Skiva StrongMount today. Should have it by tomorrow.

I ordered a Empire universal mount. Don't buy it. It's advertised with GNex compatibility, the side arms push down the volume keys, even worse, It broke what I was trying to extend the arm. It was only $8, I guess I got what I paid for.

Sure. Just got it. Gonna try it out tonight.

The mount is surprisingly small. The base has some type of sticky element that allows it to attach to multiple surfaces. I'll find out tonight how well it holds up on a car ride.

Hello Jerk82,
How do you like the car mount?
Thanks
I'm wondering if I would be able to mod this with my official GSM Car Dock. My case on the phone (a small/slim TPU case. It's really popular here, I just can't remember the name) has cutouts for the pogo pins, but my phone obviously won't fit into the car dock with the case on.
Something like this would be perfect if I could "enable" the pogo pins.

I dig it. Its been on my dash since I bought it and its fallen off twice, which I think is due to the heat from being in direct sun light for months.

Do you know for sure that that's the right stand? The Arkon stand looks like the middle part would stick out at the back in landscape orientation, but I can't be sure.

Yes, good eyes. Set up like it is in the linked photo it would be too tall but it's quite flexible.
I bought it for my Xoom but it works great in portrait and landscape.

Awesome. What's the farthest you can angle it back without the back part jutting out?
I'm gonna buy one now. Definitely worth 8 bucks.
Its all the way back in the pic and video above. Nice angle for viewing.

For the stand , try a pad pivot. Love mine
I started with the Arkon and then upgraded to the Belkin FlipBlade Adjust which is much more to my liking.
Okay, so I'm sure some of you have heard of the problem with the USB port and faulty charging, well the first time around I just sent it in for repair, and it was fine for a while, but it stopped working again so I pushed up on the tongue, it has been functioning well for now, but to be safe I was going to buy the Landscape Pogo Pin Dock from Google Play, but both the Car Pogo dock and the Desk are labeled as "Coming Soon" Are they out of stock? Does anyone know when they will be back? The Portrait HDMI dock is in stock though... Strange.

See here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1700672 and build your own. I have a thread under pogo desk docks. My usb port has been covered by a small piece of tape and haven't used it since February.
good day.
Well I suppose if you can't buy it, build it yourself. Thanks. I'll look into this.

I searched on here already, but couldn't find anything about this.
I'm looking for a dock I could use with a silicone or tpu case (not a folio). I have a cheap 'universal' eBay one for my S3, but obviously it's a bit more complicated with the Note's proprietary charger.
Does anyone know of anything? I'd be fine with a stand that holds it up high enough off a table top to plug a normal charger in as well.
I found these two on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004NFNQWM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A6U7LGCOJZZG2
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003QCOKGO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
I think this might be a better solution than a regular dock.
Any other suggestions would be welcomed!

Here are a few that may work for you, remember you can rotate the note 10.1 180 degrees and have the plug at the top and the screen will rotate for viewing.

I wonder if I my S3 would fit in it too, or maybe they have a smaller one!
Almost positive I'll be going with the Myrin. The one for the Note 2 would for my S3! That'd be great to have them both at work.

Keep us to date on any updates. Most of us want this.
Does the aluminum body have any effect on WiFi connection? I know the aluminum phone cases kill radio reception, but not sure about WiFi.

For those that have used this keyboard with the N7 (2012), how is the quality?
My wife has an ipad mini with the logitech keyboard ( http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/ultrathin-keyboard-mini), and the quality of the keyboard is fantastic, as is the bottom of the keyboard which acts as a clam shell case with the ipad.

That's pretty nice - haven't gotten one before but am thinking about it. Thank you for the share.
cool i'm gonna buy one for school definitely not bringing my new 3kg laptop
I like the idea of a portable keyboard but I don't think I could get used to typing on one the same size as the Nexus. If SwiftKey wasn't so good at predicting and making typing faster I would probably try one out though.
Have one of these for my 1st gen N7 and love it, great protection and nice for emergency typing/office work. Will definitely be getting another one when I get my N7 fhd!

I would MUCH prefer something like this, I wish a manufacturer would get on this, as it would be much easier for my work purposes to have a folio style keyboard/case. It's looking grim though, as the 1st gen. Nexus 7 still doesn't have something like this. Apple gets all of the nice accessories
This looks cool, but in the product description, it says that there's no tab key. In the photos, there's a tab key but no escape key. These keys are both important for console work. Which is actually missing?

Thank you for contacting us. At this time, we have not received any specific details of the keyboard, however, we did request for the manufacturer to develop a Tab button. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you.

I really hope a major manufacturer getson making a quality bluetooth keyboard similar to the logitech. Hopefully the 2013 N7 sales justify the manufacturer investment.

I have a keyboard that looks exactly like that one for my Nexus 7 2012, and it has the TAB key but no ESC key. I use an App from the Play Store called "External Keyboard Helper" that suppresses the internal pop-up keyboard when the BlueTooth keyboard is connected and also allows remapping the keyboard, so that the ESC key can fairly easily be added.
Very helpful Dave. Thanks.

Just arrived today. Bluetooth connection works with no issues.
The top is all plastic with aluminum "color" trim with the bottom being a rubber type material.
Similar in style (clam case?) to the Logitech/Belkin keyboards for the ipad mini but certainly NOT the same quality of material...although it is less than 1/2 the price.
I like the rubber backing, it is lightweight and feels good when closed.
The keyboard layout is different than minisuit's alternative keyboard case (book style) and appears not as wide,
the Nexus 7 can't stand in portrait mode,
edging around the keyboard interferes with my typing,
awkward to open due to the clasp style,
no dedicated "search" or "app" button,
there is a tab key and a home key.
Personally, I found it very difficult to type accurately and I'm experienced in using similar type keyboards for the ipad mini (same width as the N7).
http://www.minisuit.com/p-2016-bluetooth-keyboard-stand-case-for-google-nexus-7-fhd-2013-rubberized-non-slip-grip.aspx
Think I'll be looking for other bluetooth keyboard solutions...maybe minisuit's other keyboard case which I think is a bit wider in key layout.
Would be nice if Google(or whoever made the final call on that) would have allowed Asus to make a keyboard dock for the N7 FHD just like their Transformer line of tablets. The N7 FHD would had to have used the proprietary Asus charge/sync port instead of the standard micro usb port, and also have had the slots for locking the keyboard dock in to place. Those things would probably have raised the price though, so I'm assuming that's why they didn't go that route. Regardless, it would have been cool to have that option for those who want it. Personally I wouldn't use it, so it's no big deal to me. I had the Asus Prime and Asus keyboard dock made for it, but never used it. I didn't even buy the keyboard dock for my Infinity when it came out. That said, I'm happy with my N7 FHD just the way it is.
I'm not sure if Windows has a patent on their magnetic latching keyboard docks (I haven't looked in to that info at all), but it would be awesome if future Android tablets would have that functionality! I know the Asus Infinity successor uses the same latching style for it's keyboard dock as its predecessors, unfortunately, but it would be awesome if all Asus tablets after the New Infinity would use the magnetic latching! That is about the only thing about the newer Windows tablets that I like. Like isn't really correct for that. I love that feature/function, and I'm totally jealous that my Asus Infinity can't do that! Lol
