[Q] I finally have a Samsung Galaxy tablet - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Lets start out with today I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1". Its been a few years of seeing these tablets and I finally jumped into it. I just got it today so this whole thing is all new to me but its Android and Android is Android to me. I have the HTC One through Sprint. Its all rooted and has an unofficial Beanstock rom. I really like this rom so I really would like to put it on this tablet, but I know that Samsung and HTC are different. The only thing I would like to do is root the tablet and keep all of the Samsung stuff thats on it. I see that most of the info I find is for the Samsung tab 7". Any help would be appreciated but I found a way to root any Tablet using google but would like an official word on the best way to root this one.

Why aren't you looking in the galaxy tab 3 10 development thread?
Sent from my GT-P5210 using Tapatalk

Sorry for the delay but I have it rooted already. Thank you for the replys but I ended up using Google and finding someone that had done it. I followed there instructions but when it came down to installing the root file I couldn't find it on the tablet. I ended up just removing the SD card, using my pc and transferred the file directly, remounted the SD card and installed the root file. Its rooted and I'm so happy. I was a little lery when I seen this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432467
But after doing the instruction on the page I found using Google it seamed to be the same and it works without issues.

Development for the T217A is virtually non-existent because of the locked bootloader. I recommend that you take it back immediately. I have seen a few try the Kingo app for root, but I personally wouldn't use it. Just my 2 cents.
Hell! Thanks for the info I may be stuck with it sense I've unboxed it already. At this point just getting it rooted to get rid of bloat would be fine for me afterall I still have my s3 ha. I'll give that Kongo app a shot I've been reading about it.

Help needed to upgrade a Note 2 that was lost for 2 years.

I bought an unlocked Note 2 in the summer of 2013.
I happily used it until Christmas when it 'disappeared' in our house. My toddler daughter had hidden it somewhere.
Despite turning the house upside down it was never found and I reluctantly moved backwards to older phones I already had.
Nearly 2 years later and a builder found it hidden away in our spare room.
I know have my phone back which has been in hibernation for 18 months. It is running 4.4.1 and my question is this.
Despite it now being old I would like to upgrade the firmware to the best I can for the device without it slowing down. Please can someone recommend an upgrade and where I can find it. Phone is not rooted so will I have to do this?
Thanks in advance for your time.
There is no 4.4.1 for the note?

Good news that you found your phone. Probably your firmware is 4.1.1 and not 4.4.1 because 4.4.1 not exist and also you have to update this firmware immediately because of sds bug. If you don't know about it Google it. There are plenty of roms at forum and also plenty of instructions how to flash a custom rom and also how to update at latest official if you don't prefer custom.

Thanks for your reply Vagsvag. Just checked and it's running 4.4.2. I think it automatically upgraded something when I turned it on and logged in for the first time (sorry I'm not very savvy). In your opinion will this suffice or is there a newer platform I can safely download. I did a cursory bit of research on Google and it looks like 'Android L' is the last one offered for the Note 2, but I couldn't see if it was ever confirmed. I'll do some more research on here. I'd rather not load up a custom rom as when I did that to my last phone (S2 and the Lite'ning Rom) the phone became very glitchy. Perhaps things have improved in the last 5 years.

4.4.2 is the latest official, for newer version of Android you must go to custom rom, cm or aosp, there are also some roms transfered from official s3 firmware android version 4.4.4. My opinion is if you are ok with speed, response etc stay with this only root it to remove junk apps and block the ads. Now if you want something little bit more fresh you can try cm base, one of the more stable is Ivan_Meler's cm 12.1 at original android forum.

Thank you for all your help. I've rooted the phone which seems to make everything quicker. I'll stick with 4.4.2 for now but will have a look at CM12.1 at some point.
Ivan Meler CM 12.1, Best ROM so far. Whenever you plan to get in the CUSTOM ROM Zone !!!

New Note 4 owner

Is there thread that suggests what to do first with a new stock Note 4?
Root first?
Popular ROM?
Thanks
If you have the Verizon Note 4 you are stuck with stock as the boot loader is locked and no root exploit has been developed.

There's a thread called 'Desktop Setup' a little further down the main screen of the forum. I only took a brief glance, but it looks like it's other Note 4 owners showing how they have their phones setup. I just mainly setup mine to reflect how I had my S4 set. Unfortunately, though, the last post before mine is correct in saying root hasn't been achieved for this device yet. However, if you're looking to be able to use your phone as a mobile hotspot, you can purchase the full version of FoxFi for $7.95, or try the free version to see how you like it. The free one limits you to 5 megs per use, I think, before it disconnects you. I'm using the full version of the app to tether to my desktop right now, and it works pretty well. You can't turn it on with one tap like you can a rooted phone's hotspot, but you can turn off that way once you're done. The app lets me provide Wi-Fi for my XBox One, Tab 3 8.0, and Fire TV, too. Even though I can't root my phone yet, I still enjoy using it. Hope this helps, and sorry I rambled on a bit.

Haven't tried it yet, but I'm itching to give it a shot. I already downloaded the root file, but probably won't touch it til after this weekend, and the fact I got my phone set up the way I like it. I know this isn't the right thread, but before I make the decision to try this can anyone confirm that FoxFi works on 5.0.1? I'm currently on 4.4.4 and don't want to jump forward if it doesn't, since I need the hotspot. I know I can roll back to KitKat, but I'd lose all my stuff

Cool. The build in the post pointing to a possible root is showing 'Galaxy Note 4 (Verizon USA) SM-N910V VZWVerizon wireless N910VVRU2BOF1 5.0.1', which has me somewhat hopeful, with a side of skepticism. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this thread for any updates, hopefully good ones.
The file for root at the bottom says "Galaxy Note 4 (Verizon USA) SM-N910V" but has smn910f (SM-N910F (Europe)) in the file name for the zip.
Please tell me you guys are not serious???? Look at the date this crap was posted 7th July. Do you honestly think no one has tried it yet and come on the forums to scream about it. Very dodgy looking site also.
Take it easy, no point in getting worked up about it. We're all just looking for ANY glimmer of a lead for root.

And how is a 5 month old post a glimmer of hope. Most People on this forum have had their note 4s for a long long time and have been following and hoping for the one post that will spring up "That root has been achieved" it doesn't help with you posting the same thing in 3 different threads about some rubbish that has been posted 5 months ago from a website that looks like it was thrown together the same day they posted the root instructions. If anything comes up it will be posted on XDA almost immediately I can guarantee it.
I'm sorry if I sound harsh but everyone on here has been waiting a long time I see your only new to this and also had a chance to return.
The problem is No one appears to be working on anything, you only have to look at the thread "Lets talk root" I don't see any one talking about how root may be obtained and I include myself in that. What needs to happen is for this Note 4 community to start posting ideas in that thread or start a bloody new one. I am willing to use my phone as a guiney pig but come on people lets start talking about how we may obtain root and start experimenting. I will flash anything any one wants to my phone so lets take it over to the "Lets talk Root" forum.
Rant Over
Believe me, I understand your frustration as I've rooted every Android device I've had, till now of course. If we get, we get it. If not, oh well. I have more important things to concern myself with than whether I can root my phone or not. I'm sure the person who originally posted the link was only trying to help and not cause any tension. I wish I could root this thing, but get grip, it's still just a phone.

(Q) Can I root my SM-P605V

It's on version 5.1.1, it's never been modified, I've worked with Samsung (especially verizon versions) before so I know I would have to possibly unlock the bootloader. Also would it be worth rooting it? Are there roms for it? please let me know and thank you.
P.s. every time I open the "my device" tab when my device is listed as the note 10.1 2014 edition the app xda crashes idk If it's a know bug or not but just wanted to say something about it.

I've had my SM-P605v for awhile now. The boot loader is unlocked and I'm using a SimpleSIM card with it. Just love how this extends my capabilities. However, I've not seen that there is any way to root the tablet.and maintain all the benefits of this incredible tablet. I guess them's the breaks for owning the best of the best.
Wish I could root it though. I'd really like to run Titanium Backup on it.

Yeah it's a great tablet, I haven't had it for that long n I've come along this problem that it charges slow even with a Samsung fast charge adapter and a regular adapter, is this a software or hardware issue? I've calibrated the battery and I'm sure it's not the wires or adapter because I've tested different ones n it charges at about 700-600 mA n on my note 4 the same charger charges at 1000-1100 mA. I don't have the original charger to the tablet which honestly may be the problem, have you encountered this problem?

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (AT&T) : Stuck on Samsung Logo/Battery Screen

Years owned : Since 2012
Model : SGH-L317
Carrier : AT&T
Good Morning, everyone.
I've had my note 2 since 2012 and I didn't have an issue until now. The phone is rooted (I believe it was CleanRom Ace with the Apex Settings thing), and as the title says it, I guess it was time the phone finally got some kind major error and it started with freezing on the logo screen when booted. I thought maybe I leave it like that overnight , so I wake up, completely dead now its stuck on battery screen logo. I think I can still get access to the menu (hold home, volume down and power button) where i can access odin. No recovery mode..no nada =/...
So I need to know if this is just a battery issue or maybe its time that I set this to factory settings? But I still want it rooted.. Please help everyone. I understand most of this so I just need a boost of confidence from everyone and know if this is possible to fix. Thank you very much!
Adam.

Well the thing about this note 2 is that it's been pretty much indestructible. I've had to Odin back to stock, flash chainfires files and start over. So is suggest that. Odin back to stock and start over. Ps google is your friend

all due respect, they were my friend, they wouldn't guide me to a bunch of sites that really has no significant answer. It's like i said, I used many versions of Odin. it just doesn't wanna work. I got those Pit at mapping messages and... yea. That's pretty much the end of it.
EDIT : i made another thread about it , so someone should close this.
