T-Mobile provided it for free actually. And it works good as long as you can find a place in your house that can pull at least 2 bars of service. It turns that 2 bars into full service on your phone. Only problem is that it doesn't work for lte....only 4g

I have one, actually get better coverage by placing the window unit near my interior door to my condo. The coverage unit is actually by a window..
I think the rep misunderstood me.. I was perplexed because LTE speeds dropped by 2/3rds over the span of a few feet (and SNR dropped drastically, no clue why) which is why I actually wanted one.
It's a good device no wires or cords. Pricey but T-Mobile sent me one.

When did you do this?
I know they used to make you sign a new 2 year agreement to get the booster, but obviously T Mobile did away with all that contract BS.
Did you get this thing this year after they ended contracts? If so were there any catches? (A deposit on the device or something?)

I did it about a year ago. And I mean my contract was never renewed. It ended probably like 5 months after I received the booster. All u have to pay for is shipping which is like 5 bucks but in my case they waived because of the horrible service I had. No catches as far as I can see

OK so I called T Mobile customer service. Just press a bunch of 0000000000 until you get a live person. Make sure you have all the information for the account. SSC number an name of account holder. Let them talk an just say "Hi yea I'm calling because my phone when on WiFi works fine but when I turn WiFi off I have no 4G an only one bar." Let them talk an just keep stressing that off WiFi your phone drops calls, people sound like a robot etc. Let them say whatever but make sure you bring up the signal booster! You could say well in my friends house he has a T mobile signal booster I don't know what you call it but he said it made his signal better." Their going to be like oh yea blah blah let the person talk he or she will say she has to transfer you to tech say okay be polite. Wait for tech to answer you an repeat the whole story again to the tech. He or she may ask you to turn WiFi calling of to test signal just pretend you did an say you have no 4G an one or two bars of service. He or she will tell you okay let me check if we can get one out to you. They check say yea you qualify an give it to you for free!! But I had to pay 7.00 dollars for S&H.
Just be polite.

Awesome. :good:
If that doesn't work you can buy the device on eBay too for between $100 and $200. There are plenty of them on there right now.
What I don't know is if it will work properly or if T Mobile has to register it and authenticate it first.

I got a booster not very long ago, but maybe it's because I have been with T-Mobile for over 12 years. I don't think so, tho. I did have problems getting reception from my house which is 175 meters from a tower and just get 0 to 1 bar of signal indoors. I have to walk outside nearly a mile to get full service and LTE so I was in a bad situation. After a number of calls to a rep at T-mo I did get someone to ship to me free a "Booster" it only gets 1-2 bars from the best place in the house and provides me a connection elsewhere in the house, but i didn't have reception before and I do using the booster so bottom line, it works. Be aware, It DOES NOT give any help with the LTE signals. The only thing about using the booster that really made any difference is that I can use the telephone and make calls, where I couldn't before. For internet usage, I connect to my computer's wireless network.

If you are trying to get one for free just call an read my other post. They still do give them out for free all you have to pay is a 6-7 dollar shipping an handling.

trying to get out of your contract this way wont work......tmobile is already aware of the threats people are using as roaming capping data.....in a unlimited data plan...contracts states thete allowed to make changes within..sucks.....
Just find a dead spot on there coverage map and say ur moving there since they can't provide service they have to terminate ur contract

Start a series of dialogs with customer service regarding dropped calls and terrible service signal. Call each day for a week or so, eventually they will "pass it to the engineers" and you can still call and complain. After a week or two file a case with the Better Business Bureau. They will ask you what you want them to do, just tell them you want out without the ETF. Worked for me.

I guess that's what I will have to do.: I have already called about that maybe four or five times and nothing. I think you're right and that in should file with bbb. Reason I want out is because I am moving to a crappy coverage area and frikin tmo keeps charging me $100 more than what I should be paying. Att gives me that same plan, but for half the price.

How about instead you leave sprint? If you dont get good coverage then why would you come to sprint in the first place. The low signals and wifi scanning for long periods of time leech the hell out of batteries.
I hope you don't roam on Verizon's network because in the end you're screwing loyal sprint customers.

Hello everyone I've been trolling these forums for many years and could have swore I registered but guess I didn't but I digress. I just joined Sprint and activated an OG Evo that I picked up earlier and since I didn't buy a phone I am able to get a new phone at a discounted price obviously. But I am torn at the moment I am running Sprint lovers rom at the moment and after maybe 3-4 hours of listening to music my battery is all but dead. I have my brightness turned down and the screen filter app to kill my backlight on the function buttons per a suggestion from another thread. Is the battery just that bad in the Evo? And if so I'll be looking to grab either the LTE, SG3 or the new nexus but they all have downside that turn me off. The LTE reported to have poor battery life and an removable battery, the G3 from what I've heard has signal strength issues and unless someone can point me to the EPST.apk so I can use Verizon prl's until I move to a better coverage zone that's potentially a big issue and the Nexus is reported to have worse battery life than the LTE so I.figured.I'd turn to the experts and get some opinions thanks everyone

I'm not gonna help you do something against sprints policies.
But here's what I will tell you. Stay on wifi as much as possible and turn it off when your not connected
Turn 3g off unless needed if you don't get a good signal.
Call sprint and tell them your getting bad signal yada yada yada they'll send you an airave.
If you really want good battery life then check out the link below and follow the instructions step by step.

Yeah I already told Sprint that even though two telesales reps and their coverage map showed I had good coverage I am roaming constantly and the supervisor I spoke with had me switch to the $99 plan for the next two months until I move to a better coverage area. But thank you for the guide on battery life
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
And I am staying with Sprint because I will not go back to Verizon or US cellular and those are the only CDMA carriers around me except metropcs. I am in no way trying to screw Sprint or any customers I actually like sprint and have no real complaints about their data speeds or lack of LTE like it seems several people do so I plan on dealing with the fact I am roaming when I am at my house and use Sprint's tower when I go to work. At least until about the tailend of September when I leave this gods forsaken place

Sprint kicked me out...

Got kicked out yesterday. Sprint saw all my Roaming (PRL 1) and it also helped me the fact that there are a lot of coverage issues in the El Paso area because they are ¨upgrading¨ their antennas. In order for Sprint to waive the ETF their service has to be at less than 93% for 3 consecutive months in your area. In El Paso it is right now at 80 and it will be like that until october (3 months).
I have one rooted LGOG running Lifeless. Its brand new, I've only had it for a month (Sprint replaced my old one because my computer couldn't recognize it) and also have two Galaxy Nexus (one rooted running CM and the other stock).
If anyone's interested in any of those devices let me know. They all have clean ESN's.

Interesting. I roam constantly and am in a major metropolitan area (smack between NYC and Philly) but they've always tried to blame it on hardware. To that end, I've done my best to ramp up my unlimited data usage to try to make it an issue, but they don't seem to care how much of that coveted Unlimited 3G I suck up.
This month I am sitting at 40 gigs so far with a week to go. 40 Gigs of 3G downloads. It has not been easy....

LMAO! I am fairly certain that to get to 40 gb of download over 3g you would need to be awake 22 hours a day! That's the best thing I have ever heard! We should take up a collection on XDA to buy you a case of energy drinks to see if you can break 100 gb!

The bulk of my downloading/data is done on their actual 3G network. I roam for sure, everyday, but when data roaming I am picking up what seems like a 1x signal. Data speeds of maybe 10-15 kbs a second. I almost give up trying to do anything with the phone during those periods....except maybe fire a game up.

WoW! Must be nice! WiFi in my area gives me 1-2 MBs if I'm lucky! 3G averages 50 KBs...4Gs a little better but not by much and 4Gs a hit and miss where I live. I use WiFi at my girls house but I've got none at home so I just tether my Optimus G to my 7 and alternate the 2 on a charger. Its enough for simple tasks like Google+ and email.

What a difference a few feet makes!

So recent T-Mobile subscriber, it's a decent service but I'm still keeping my verizon unlimited for home internet!
Did you do a few trials and not just take one or two tests at each location? And btw, nice place
Yeah many times, its like speeds cut off completely right there,
T Mobile makes a repeater device that will rebroadcast the cell signal over a limited area like 50 feet. You just have to put the device in a spot that has a good signal it can use to repeat.
Basically it is your own mini cell tower.
Dial 611 from your t mobile phone to ask a customer service rep more

I get LTE here at my work. If I walk a few shop down but still inside the same building I only get 4G.

Well no longer a rumor only drawback is 2G speeds Still better then $15/mb roaming data rates.
20 cents a min for international calls is pretty good though.

A T-Mobile executive was quoted as saying a merger with Sprint was the "logical ultimate combination" two weeks ago. Wouldn't be so bad to add Sprint's coverage (realestate) to Tmob's, as long as CDMA is killed off with fire ASAP.

I also wouldn't mind the extended coverage but I am afraid of Sprint's ethics and HORRIBLE customer service somehow leaking into T-Mobile's customer service. The only benefit I see is like you said the extra coverage but I am more afraid of Sprint's "bads" to creep in. And yes definitely no CDMA that would be horrible.
A T-Mobile Sprint merger would be good if CDMA, was killed off, T-Mobile had operational control, they sell the 2500mhz spectrum use the additional 1900 mhz for HSPA and use Sprints 800 mhz for LTE as well as the current 1700 mhz

You forgot one thing... Keep Sprint's unlimited data for life, cause unlimited 4G is nice. I said pretty much this same thing in some other thread. I had sprint previously, their coverage sucked, but I am happy with t mobile right now. If they do so happen to merge, I want my company discount back. With sprint, it was 23% discount. T is 15%.

That is true I was talking from a network point of view, but I completely agree about the keeping unlimited data for life they also should put John Legere as C.E.O he's been doing great things. I was also a Sprint customer but I switched to T-Mobile for speed and I haven't looked back.

Same here. But I know exactly what you mean. If sprint and t mobile merged, they would have the ability to expand further than at&t and Verizon.
It actually makes a lot of sense. They just have to nit pick the good things from each carrier.
1. 4G from t mobile.
2. New and old spectrums from Sprint.
3. Unlimited high speed data from Sprint, without a price hike.
4. GSM from t-mobile.
5. The phone policies from t mobile.
6. John Legere.
With that all being said, maybe t mobile should buy sprint instead. Looks like they have more going for them.
I also wonder what the new logo would look like. SprinT-mobile maybe?
Edit: and the t-mobile girl. If they really feel like getting rid of her, they can send her my way.

That would be great if that would happen except T-Mobile's parent company Deuche Telekom unfortunately wants out of the US market and will try to sell ASAP.

Well, that was the case, but maybe with the new announcement of free data in 100 countries, they may just change their minds. Here is hoping they either just stay the way they are, or make the smart move.

I've done data roaming in a few different cities in mexico and although the speeds do get throttled I was able to do anything I needed to do within email and social media. I got a text from T-Mobile with the option to use 4g at an additional cost per day but didn't see the need. Throttled speeds should be around 128kbps

For me it was ok, I was checking emails and facebook etc. T-mo offered me an extra 500mb of high speed of data for 50 dlls.
