Loss of "Tablet Optimized Apps" in Play Store - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I used to have the Play Store with optimized tablet apps shown by default and now it's no longer there.... any ideas? I rebooted a few time and even cleared play store data/cache...
??

Try.

This problem will go away once you upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat though.

I have android 4.4 and I don't see the "Tablet-Optimized" section in the Play Store.
I've had the Nexus 7 since it was released in July and I have never seen a Tablet-Optimized section.

Amazon app store and JB 4.2

Since upgrading to JB 4.2 the Amazon app store keeps having me authenticate periodically. I assume that this is related to the JB update, but I haven't seen anyone else mention this issue. Particularly when accessing Tweetcaster Pro is when I see the issue start, but then no other app works correctly.
Just for some background, I wiped my phone yesterday with 4.1 and then installed 4.2. I have the latest version of the app store and have tried clearing cache/data, uninstalling, reinstalling. No help.
So I'd like to know if anyone else is seeing this or if it is just me.
Thanks
Probably just needs a compatibility update, same as every other app that isn't working on 4.2 right now.

Thanks. I figured that was the case. I would just be more at ease knowing I wasn't alone.
Same behaviour here after updating to 4.2. Hope Amazon is fast with a fix...
Same here - driving me freaking crazy
You may have to redownload the Appstore apk, there seems to be one with a new layout now.

It kept asking me to sign in and when I did it was saying wrong password even though I knew it was right. I only had about 3 paid apps for free that I still used so I just uninstalled them and purchased from the play store and uninstalled the amazon app store.....haven't "bought" a free app in like 3 months...the selection is getting to be crap

Sorry for you, but glad to hear it. I ended up calling them today and they hadn't heard of any issues. I suspect they know now.
I'm getting the same thing too although my login credentials actually work. The one thing I haven't checked is whether or not these logins are creating a new device authorization every time.
I completely wiped my phone before upgrading to 4.2 and Amazon App store and Verizon FiOS Mobile Remote are the only two apps with issues.
I have the same issue with Forum Runner. Every time I close the app I get signed out and need to re-login every time I open it back up. So annoying but I'm guessing its a 4.2 update thing. I've deleted it and re-downloaded it and it made no difference.

They explained to me that everytime you login, it creates a new device instance. They limit it at 25. I hit that mark yesterday.

I've read that in the past, but it's never been true for me. I use TubeMate from Amazon and dont need the Amazon Market installed to do so.
Having the same issue with the app store. Just got off the phone with amazon and they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix now

Ouch! I just logged in to my Amazon account and saw all the "Nexus 7 xx" devices that were registered.
Thanks for the heads up. I deregistered all the new devices.
This worked for me
From another forum I found this solution to work:
1) Delete Google Account
2) Reboot Device
3) Reactivate Google Account
4) Log on with Amazon Appstore App
All apps load and run without need to log on each time now.
I also deleted excess Amazon devices as noted above.

Possible solution for updating through Google Framework Services trick without error

Hi guys,
I think I've found a possible workaround for forcing Nexus Update without breaking Google Services Framework. I did this procedure on three Nexus and got the same result, so I think it's safe (or I'm lucky as hell).
Step by step:
Settings->Apps->All->Google Services Framework
Click on Force Stop and Clear Data after.
Go check your System Updates on "Settings->About". If it works and your phone starts downloading the update, reboot your phone immediately. When it's back on, Google Services will ask your permission to get your location and anonymous data, click Agree and open some google app, like Maps. Go back to your System Updates on About menu and proceed as usual.
I think the trick here is to allow Google Service Framework to rebuild its data before the update run itself.
Well, it worked for me and worth a try
Breaking google services framework? I've never heard of that.

When you clear the data of Google Framework, some stuff breaks, but after awhile it will go back to normal.

It happens a lot when you clear it to force the update. Search the forum and you'll see a lot of reports about that.

One issue is your phone can disappear from the Play Store "devices" list. This happened to me but eventually it will come back, just takes time.
Great!

[Solved] Problems with Play on WiFi

I just rooted my GS3 and everything seemed to go well. I tried downloading rootkeeper from the play store, but the download just hung with a dashed line, not showing percentages. I thought it might have been the app so i tried a free game same issue. I went to my play music and couldn't play any of my songs either. I rebooted the phone a few times. still nothing.
I then disabled wifi and it downloaded like a champ. I'm wondering if this is something related to rooting the phone or a newly developed issued with my network. The phone is only a few weeks old, but i have not had any d/l issues before on this or other phones. In case it matters, which it probably does i used the mrRobinson methods.
Re: Problems with Play on WiFi
What rom are you on? Also, what baseband? Did you just take the MB1 update or MA6?

Did I mention this was all fairly new to me. I followed this guide and used those files....so it should be the stock rom and baseband right (I had to look that up). As far as updates, if you mean ota updates i'm not sure. I flashed it today and it was 10 minutes later when I was trying to add rootkeeper via play (using my home wifi). I went into system updates and they are all up to date. What is/are MB1 and MA6. I searched but it didn't see anything that look like an explanation about those if you had a good link.

Yes I could access and use everything that I tried (foxfire, viggle, amazon app store), Play was the only thing not working, meaning it worked, I just could not download. I tried Play again at work today on WiFi and it worked normally. I will have to investigate my home network tonight. The only thing that has changed recently was the addition of a sprint airrave. I will update this later once I find something out.
Thanks for the help and suggestions CNexus and Speedin07si!
I unhooked the air rave and it is working fine again....I guess that fixes that problem.

Just try it then. You'll know if an app doesn't work and it won't kill your phone. You may not be able to stop Google Play and services from updating unless you disable them and don't use them at all. I suspect that most of your apps will continue to work.

I'm not sure if I fixed it myself or if Google fixed it but my device is now certified.
Last night I hid magisk in magisk settings Be rebooted but no change.
This morning I cleared cache on Google Play services and Google Play store and now it's all working!
Android pay working

Getting about 6hours SOT. Also, after clearing both Play Store and Play Services cache/data, and rebooting, I now have a certified device and was able to re-add my debit card to Google Pay.
Playstore uncertified is fixed now! Google fixed it today!
Google Playstore uncertified issue with Beta3 is now fixed. Just clear data of Playservices and Playstore and reboot. You will then have Certified PlayStore!
Is anybody's fast Charging not working after this update? Worked before. Not rooted

Cool
Unrooted -
Google Pay works fine for me.
App suggestions now show in the app drawer. Also weather now shows on the lock screen (didn't show for me in previous beta - just had a blank space)
None of my apps crash and everything works fine.
Not the best battery life still (but that's more for my device being nearly 2 yrs old and being used heavily rather than any software issue).
How are you guys clearing cache for play store??mine says unidentified
