I have an XS running 6.2.B.1.96, rooted with DoomLord's technique. It has latest Google Play Services.
I'm trying to get the phone to play ball with Google's Android Device Manager. It appears in the list of devices, but ADM gives "Location unavailable" when I try to locate it, and it does not respond to commands to lock or ring the device etc.
ADM is enabled as a Device Administrator in the security setttings, I've cleared the Google Play Services data as per the help pages, but no joy so far.
Has anyone else had the same problem? Any ideas on how to resolve it?

Since the Update to 1.1 , after reinstalling GAPPS my FP isnt shown in the Device-Manager
i can see it in the Browser unter My Devices but not in the Device-Manager.
Other users told me that it was visible bevore the Update but neither it was possible to get the location of the FP nor to let it ring from remote.
Are there any workarounds, or solutions for this issue?

I managed to solve this by resetting Google Play Services...
Go to System > Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Services
Disable
Uninstall Updates (go ahead with deactivating as Device Manager)
Uninstall updates (again!)
Force Stop
Disable
Clear cache
It takes many steps to disable this thing
Now you can Enable it back.
You should have a Notification saying "App application requires updating google play services", or simply open this link on your device
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms and update
For the following final steps, check the Help pages if you don't want to provide google with too much information
Open the newly updated Google Play Services and enable stuff you need under the Andrdoid Device Manager subsection.
Verify if Location > Access location is enabled...
Hope that works for you, it did for me!

The only steps for me were:
- Uninstall updates
- Disable
- Delete data
- Re-enable
- Update
Now it works again Thanks

for me too Thx!
After the update to 1.6 the Problem came back but now i cant close Google Play Services because when i want to , it says that it is impossible to Uninstall Play Services because it is an active Device-Administrator..
can anyone confirm this issue or even provide a solution?
thx
I can still locate my device after the upgrade.I also applied the partitioning update, so this may be due my phone losing all its data as part of the upgrade process.
Strangely enough, Play Services is not a Device-Administrator on my phone, nor is asking to be one. Can you revoke Device-Administrator status via Settings>Security>Device administrators?
i did the repartitioning too and now it seems to work
Hello,
The google search app has stopped working on both of my phones. One is a factory S3, never modified, the other has MOAR.
If I long press the menu button, the google search pops up, but searching for anything gives network errors and the cards do not load (same if I click into the google search widget). Both phones have internet access and I can load a browser and run the searches without a problem.
I've not tried fixing the factory phone but on MOAR I've attempted the following with no success:
1) Clear dalvik
2) Clear App data
3) Uninstall updates from Google App (blue icon)
4) Re-install updates
After all that, it still says, "Network error" and fails to load anything.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Fixed it. For anyone else that has this issue:
Uninstall updates and clear data from Google App, Google Play Store, and Google Play Services. Update through play, and back in action.
So I am from one of those countries where Google Now/Now on Tap is not supported by Google. But I still want to enable it anyway...Need HELP.
It says 'This account is not eligible to use google now'. I have tried all the fix available on the internet but failed. Those are specially not working because they are for lollipop or for previous versions of Android; not for Marshmallow.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP??
BTW, I am looking for both Rooted/non-Rooted methods..
Have you tried xposed framework? I saw that it's available for Marshmallow. It's what I used on my N4 to activate some US-only features because I had my system set to German.

No, I haven't. But I guess that would be a worthy try.. Okay, let's just say it's an option but before Rooting, I wanna try any other possible way.. Thanks..
So it's functional for all of you guys living outside the 'supporting countries'?
I was hoping there must be a way without Rooting... I want to use Google Now, please HELP!!!

Thanks but nothing worked.. It says 'This account is not eligible to use google now'.
I have tried to access US google play store through VPN but it didn't work. And Market Unlocker may work but it requires Root, which I don't want to do this early..
I was searching for a way to get past this too. Finally stumbled upon one after hours of messing around. Worked for me, hope it works for you too.
1. First download hotspot shield or any other vpn app from the playstore.
2. Disable google play services and sign out from your google account.
3. In Settings, go to location and choose "device only".
4. Download google play services from your browser.
5. Start hotspot shield and change location to America or any place where google now is available.
6. Install google play services that you've downloaded via your web browser (Please note that you have to allow installation of apps from unknown sources which can be done in security)
7. Sign in to your google account. You should be able to activate google now under Settings > Now Cards.
8. Once activated, uninstall google play services update that you've installed or disable it again and re-enable it. (If you are able to download apps from the playstore, then you can skip steps 8 to 11)
9. Turn off hotspot shield.
10. Go to apps, search for google playstore and clear data and cache.
11. Now go to google now and select update google play services.
Google Now should work now.

I will try.
No ROOT is required here in this method, right?

Nope. No root required
NOPE. It didn't work.. When turning on Now Cards, it is disabled and says 'not available in your country'.
Seems Hotspot Shield didn't work. Probably Rooting and trying would be only option..
FINALLY, this works for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-enable-google-cards-country-t3102472
I get a message that google play is not installed. It was removed due to constant error messages. How do I restore it and its associated files such as google services? Is there a location where I can obtain the files not via google because I am unable to go into the google account via the phone even though the two step security system is off. I am asked to choose the name of the account I want to use to recover google play, I click ok and the phone does not open the account. I fail to reinstall google play for that reason at least. I have tried creating a new google account but could not do so from the phone.
My phone: Samsung GT-18160
OS: Cyanogenmod 11-20-20141214-unoficial-codina
Android version: 4.4.4
Status of phone: Rooted
When I posted this message the following was shown as possibly useful:
Home Legacy & Low Activity Devices Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830, S5830i, Ace II Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting [GUIDE] How to fix and upgrade Google Play Services by Nightly Coder
Unfortunately I used Titanium to remove google services because I was following advice that said if I restart the phone after having removed google services it will be reinstalled automatically. That did not happen.

Is it too early for me to ask if could possibly have a reply to my question about reinstalling google play?

Unable to add new apps
I am unable to access google play. Is there another way of accessing new apps that does not rely upon backdoor access to google play?
so, i now nothing about linux, i know about android only as much as every other phone user. i used android emulators, one day i though hey, what if you just use android as an os and i found this new dimension, almost.
now, i installed the last bliss os, i had many crashing problems (installing apps from apkpure caused crash, installing from built-in file manager also caused crash) and i figured pretty much all of those problems stem from notification problems. so i go and disabled all notifications, app by app, including system ui notifications. now i can install anything from apkpure, i don't receive any crashing.
another problem was with vertical apps. they didn't show properly, solved that problem with the built in orientation tool.
now, i want to know wth is this microg thing is. i can install any apk from apkpure so i don't need store for that. i am also okay with playing games in guest mode. all i want being able to ignore google login part. (edit: i just installed another game in which you login with plarium registration method which also stopped working when loading bar was showing "connecting to store systems". makes sense, i guess.)
microg thing has a self check and i guess when everything checked it will do exactly that? it will fool apps as if i have google play while i don't? so i need a tutorial about that. what's unchecked for me?
system has signature spoofing support CHECKED
system grants signature spoofing support CHECKED
system spoof signature UNCHECKED
play services gmscore installed CHECKED
play services gmscore has correct signature UNCHECKED
playstore phonesky installed CHECKED
playstore phonesky has correct signature UNCHECKED
(everything else between checked)
last entry called "network based location enabled" UNCHECKED. (it says you either disabled this in system setting which i didn't or the system is not supported)
thanks in advance.
I have a similar problem - I managed to get some of the unchecked checked by clicking on the option itself and sometimes a dialog would come up asking to grant some sort of permission. But I am still stuck with 'System spoofs signature' and 'Play Services (GmsCore) has correct signature' unchecked.
Does this mean the signature spoofing is not happening? If so I'm not sure what else I need to do to get it set up on Bliss OS 11.14.
