Auto dimming, how to stop it? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Hi all,
This is my first post about my 8. I find it strange that my screen automatically dims (very dim) after a few seconds.,even when plugged in and I have set it up to stay on, it dims.
I have tried just about every tweak I can think of. Turning off auto brightness/batter saving mode/ etc. For the life of me I am not able to get it to stop auto dimming after a few seconds.
Anyone have this issue and resolve it?
Thanks!
Ryan

If it isn't auto brightness, check settings...display....screen mode.
It could be the adapt display or maybe reading mode?

Try changing screen timeout in Settings / Display / Screen Timeout

Thanks for the tips, I extended the inactivity timeout and removed the s pen power savings and I think that did it!

Does the Note2 have its own browser brightness setting like the S3 (I actually found the S2-S3 default dimmer browser brightness setting annoying, there should also be an option under general systems settings to have brightness setting go system wide)?
There is an option missing in the Note Browser called colour, the brightness control helps, but without the colour option to stop the filter coming on you'll have to use another browser or just wait to see if they add it in the next update.

You must have power saving mode on! It lowers screen brightness to a ridiculously low level when browsing! I love the feature coz it allows me 10 hours screen time instead of my usual 9.
I have good eyes so use it. I can deffo see why others would struggle with it on tho
There is the option adjust screen tone under display. That seems to dim whites in the browser and gmail

Stock internet browser app dimming?

This past week the stock Samsung internet browser app dims when opened. Then when I close it the phone goes back to the brightness level it was at before opening up the browser. only happens when using the Samsung stock browser. Anyone else having this problem?
Stock AT&T GSIII
Edit: Also wanted to add that this is not happening on my wife's GSIII.

Check display settings. There is an option to change the screen tone to reduce battery usage. Try unchecking that.

Thanks for the reply but just unchecked it and it's still doing the same thing. Even tried toggling on and off auto brightness and it still does the same thing. It's very strange.
Try turning off powesaver.

I'm chalking this up to a bug. I have a friend with an S3 with this exact problem. No amount of settings changing would fix it. I'm pondering doing a factory reset on his and seeing if that fixes the problem.
I was having the same issue. Turning off power save mode fixed it.

Its not a bug. I was able to make this happen or not happen by changing a few settings, but I don't remember which ones because I'm on AOKP.
But it definitely is a battery saving feature, so turn off all battery saving stuff and then try it.

The Samsung gs3 browser has its own display brightness settings that are independent of your screen brightness settings. While in the browser press menu and you should see a screen brightness option. You can select between 3 levels of brightness or set your own slider.
Thanks everyone...I found the culprit.
For anyone else having this problem, it is under the phone settings, power saving, I unchecked "Background color" which says "Change background color to save power in internet"

Screen/Vibration issues

My phone all of a sudden is acting weird.
My vibrate doesn't work for the bottom buttons, the back and menu buttons.
My phone screen image shakes, or shutters, slightly and dims the brightness automatically.
I have checked the vibration settings. The automatic brightness isn't checked in the browser. I'm pretty worried though about the screen shaking. These all seem to be combined somehow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you enabled power saving mode? Disable it if so.

Hi, can you explain a bit more ?

In display there is an option of screen mode.

I'm having problems with mine, my auto brightness has started to become sporadic in the last month. I always use mine auto with it set at 50% never had an issue before, it would change as per light conditions, I then would untick auto and get 100% brightness.
Well lately the auto brightness doesn't seem to want to change it just stays at same brightness even if I am in direct sunlight etc, I then have to put it to 100% just so I can see the screen.
Anyone else having same issue?

Hi, I did not see this "screen mode" item before, it seems the problem is gone by choosing the "dynamic" option !
Thank you very much

Problem with screen filter apps

I tried couple of these, one being luxe, another screen filter. While they both work fine I noticed that after they ran I loose ability to change screen brightness altogether until the phone it's reboot. Does anyone know a good solution for this?
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
You can easily turn lux off and adjust your brightness. Also, you can touch the + or - buttons in the Lux persistent notification and it'll brighten or darken your screen
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
I use screen filter and it allows me to adjust it all day. The only issue is when you try to download things the install button doesn't work. But who's prefect...
