Should I reset my tab ? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

So I have my Samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014. I have rooted it got rid of bloat ware , even downloaded nova launcher and froze touchwiz home, but I a, still getting annoying lag, I love the tab but it's not running as smooth as I like. When I clear all apps with task manager my ram goes down to just over 1 gb which is great compared to the sometimes over 2gb of ram touchwiz was using sometimes. Should I reboot the system then re root, I heard factory reset has helped a lot of people. Any thoughts?

Personally, I'm not seeing any lag. Out of box I immediately updated to MK1, wiped, rooted, and then immediately downloaded Titanium Backup. I removed the 6+2 knox related apps, disabled a majority of the Samsung bloat, and have been running smooth ever since. I left Touchwiz personally, as I haven't seen the need to use Nova.
Where are you seeing the lag? A wipe usually takes care of the problem however I know its an inconvenient solution,,,, Are you running MK1?

I'm in the UK so it's on j6. Maybe the mk1 takes care of the lag . It's not horrendous, just on play Store and sometimes it really slows down on moving screen etc

[Q]my ram crosses 318mb/351 mb.all the sounds of my phone disappers

i have a strange problem with w.whenever my ram crosses 318mb/351 mb.all the sounds of my phone disappers.i cant play music, video,no locking and unlocking sounds.i have to restart the phone again.this happens atleast once every day.any thoughts on this?
OK....my best guess is it's the phones way of protecting it's "core" functions. The ram usage has reached a point where there is a danger of failure of its prime functions and it is attempting to divert ram from other non essential services. First thing you've got to do is find out what's eating your ram. There are apps available that can supply this information though I don't know what they're called as I've never had to use them (sorry) Are you using a lot of apps that run in the background to bring you notifications etc? If this is the case and you don't really need the app, delete it....simples.....
There is also a setting in CM9 that allows you to turn off background data if you need to keep the apps......give it a go and see....it might be all you need to do

Other things to try.....
Keep the number of home screens to a minimum.....
Remove "Widgets" from your home screens....
Apps like Facebook, eBay, amazon, PayPal, hmv, game, email....basically any app that takes you to a website.....they ALL use ram and they will ALL restart if you close them......they can ALL be deleted and replaced by bookmarked web searches that can be pasted to your home screen....sure you won't get a notification if billy has commented on your status, or if you have an unread email, or if that item you're watching is ending soon, but if your phone works better as a result....who cares lol.......
If you want to take it further than that, root your phone (if you haven't already) and install Gemini app manager.....you can use it to prevent apps from auto running and using ram.......

OK...maybe "non essential" was the wrong terminology, but I'm sure you understand what I'm trying to say....the rest of my advice still stands though.....

No....it's more likely to be too much software trying to access too little ram.....
The W has very little compared to some phones....

yes stock rom
That'll be another reason then.....ur stock OS has all sorts of bloatware (social hub, music hub, games hub, maps.....) all of it using RAM.....another thing to watch for....3rd party launchers (go launcher + addons).....very RAM hungry....ROOT your phone and freeze the bloat.....you WILL notice a difference.....you don't even have to install a custom rom, though that WILL help too.....

Rmoving apps

Has anybody tried uninstalling some of the stock apps with either TB or root explorer? Wondering how much of the junk apps is okay to remove.
I removed everything that started with Samsung minus the keyboard. And everyrhing that started with at&t. Along with apps I knew I wouldnt use ever
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Can the all share app and service be removed? Also did you removed the att locker, navigator and the att ready 2 go apps?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
There's an option in setting / applications / running to effectively freeze apps without rooting. I did it to nearly all the bloatware. I don't see them in the nebu now.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
You need some of the samsung stuff because of the heavy customizations to the phone and s-pen support. I froze, using titanium backup pro, most of the at&t stuff, I think I only left the smart wifi thing, automatically connecting to at&t and well known popular hot spots sounded ok to me. I think i froze the kies stuff. But left most of the Samsung stuff.
I would love to see a list of what's safe to freeze and why.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Noob here and I too froze all the ATT stuff like ekerbuddyeker said using the aplication mngr., Now my question is does this help with them running in the backround i.e. battery life?? This is my first Android device came from ios.
When you disable them and delete their cache, it makes them not a running process whatsoever. Unfortunately, none of the stock apps run in the background, so you will see no noticable difference by disabling them (minus the fact everything looks cleaner)
I removed all the AT&T apps. Don't notice any difference in performance, but I do like not having those apps around. Didn't mess with the Samsung apps yet as this is my first Samsung phone and wasn't sure what all the S pen uses.

Launcher pro force close more then ever since ICS/JB has evolved

This pertains to the note 2 and really any other device. I've noticed no matter what device I use
Ever since gb was evidentally replaced with the ics and jb rollout on all or most devices ,Launcher pro seems to not be as user friendly. I get a lot of ... unexpected stop working force closes.Gb never really had this issue with launcher pro .
Anyone else notice this for instance?

I believe the development of launcher pro was stopped a long time ago. It was great for my 2.2 and 2.3 android devices, but never used it for anything above that. Might be that it cant handle the new apps properly. Try out nova launcher, i personally use it and love it, theres also apex aswell. Those are the two id recommend for the note 2

Launcher Pro was my favored launcher for a couple years on my D2G, so upon receiving my Note2 i immediately loaded it. I've been using it for three months and have had no issues with it what so ever. I do frequently clear my caches, and occasionally manually restart LP. It's still my favorite browser for the Facebook widget alone.

Hoe to free up memory ram and optimize device performance

Guys, is there anyway i can do to make my galaxy nexus faster or hoe to clean up more RAM By using default or old way from the device itself?
Cause i feel im not install lots of app and not running lot of them but its a lil bit annoying cause my phone run a lil bit heavy than usual even I've restart the phone already.
Please need your advance suggestion n guide. So far what ive done is close the app one by one and i notice there is no galaxy nexus. Firmware app that can kill all apps simultaneously.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Don't interfere in androids multitasking. Closing apps that were intended to run in the background is only going to slow your system down overall.
Your best bet is to either make the switch to a more streamlined custom ROM or consider starting fresh.

That's not the way Android works- it seems that you have your phone confused with a Windows PC. Killing processes to free up ram is counterintuitive and serves to slow the device down. Free ram is wasted ram in this case.

Can you explain to me the easy way and is there any solution to optimize galaxy nexus device?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
try greenify from play store
or here

That is by using 3rd party app, right? But is there anyway to optimize device from hardware or from default app by itself?

freeing ram??
ok if you insist, go to developer options, scroll to "background process", change it to 1 or 2 or 3 or 4
you can also enable "force gpu rendring"
Use v6 supercharger also its spelled how not hoe which means autocorrect got you probably which means you've been typing hoe a lot ehh?

Op, at this precise moment I have 5 home screens full of widgets, and "only" have 172MB of free RAM.
It doesn't lag, it's still snappy. And I don't kill apps. Android kernel does that for me. This isn't Froyo or Gingerbread anymore.
Fine-tune your governor settings.

You might consider switching back to 4.1.2. As far as i have heard all Galaxy Nexus models suffer from poor memory management in de 4.2.x Android versions, often leaving with less than 50mb of free RAM. I personally have this problem and I'm about to switch back. I'm just researching which ROM to get and not lose too many functions.

How to downgrade
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
You should just factory reset and let the phone manage ram how its meant to. Having more free ram may cause a placebo effect but were not talking about windows here...used ram properly is more effecient than unused wasted RAM.
If you want to downgrade search for factory images.

Might as well try the V6 Supercharger http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418 run it using script manager from Play Store, other instructions are in the script itself.
It has made my phone quite smoother /4.2.2

hopefully someone will give info .
Have you tried going to settings then privacy then to delete personal data.
Also try Avg cleaner, All in one toolbox or SD maid (if rooted). These apps will clean up the cache and unneeded files from your phone.

My stock browser is normal speed. I use Chrome which is more snappier. Maybe try clearing the data and cache might help.
I wonder why Google still keeps the stock browser and not just switch to Chrome. I mean they moved from regular messaging to hangouts. Regular gallery to g plus but still have stock browser. Maybe in the next update they will get rid of it.
