Hi, I've been trying to google this for a while, but can't seem to find what I need.
I just installed the stock rooted deodexed rom from captain throwback: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671395
specifically 5.07.651.6 Stock Rooted - Deodexed
Everything worked great. Then I installed CT's circle battery mod, a random quick settings mod, and a random advanced power menu mod, cleared cache and dalvik cache, and rebooted multiple times.
Now some system strings are strange, like when adjusting the normal volume, it says "Playing through bluetooth" although nothing is connected via bluetooth or headphones, etc. Also when you pull down the top bar, it used to say "click to enable USB debugging" or something like that, but now it just says "Select input method", although everything seems to still function properly.
Where can I find these corrupted system strings to adjust them back?
Thanks
Just reflash the ROM. Not all of those old mods will work on the newest base. I believe there's some hex-editing that needs to be done in a framework file somewhere to fix that, but I don't know anymore than that.
Thanks for the quick response. In that case, which mods would you recommend as far as getting circle battery mod, quick settings, and advanced power menu? Should I leave it alone if I don't want to corrupt the strings again?

I can't recommend any mods, as I haven't tested them. But the Circle Battery you should still be able to do yourself with UOT Kitchen. When it comes to APM & Quick Settings, that's where you're going to run into issues.
Awesome. I'm pretty sure it didn't happen until the APM mod, so I'll abandon that one. Thanks again for your help.
Edit: reflashing worked, and I was able to bake the honeycomb circle battery using UOT kitchen, plus the quicksettings I got from tommytomatoe works great. I wonder if I could have fixed the original issue by reinstalling the original framework-res.apk, systemUI.apk, and/or com.htc.resources.apk instead of having to reflash the whole rom. I guess I'll find out next time

Ok I got all the bugs worked out and I think it's ready for public testing.
May i present the first ROM for the Motorola Bravo:
BravoX RC2 by bandroidX
Includes:
-Fully Deodexed Framework and Apps
--Deodexed means fully themeable
-Optimized/zip aligned apks
-Bloatware Removed:
--All ATT Bloat (except FM Radio app)
--Vlingo, Where and YP
--Vsuite voice commander is gone
-Atrix Forest Live Wallpaper (weather changing)
-Atrix ringtones and notifications
-Wifi Tethering is included
-New bootanimation thanks to heydabop!
-Minor tweaks/enhancements
-stock swype (deodexed) included
-you will retain root, superuser, busybox, and bravo recovery.
NOTE: if you have swype beta I would recommend uninstalling it first and ridding your phone of all swype beta files. then flash the rom, then remove the stock swype and its lib and then install swype beta. if you are using stock swype you can just flash the rom.
Instructions
1) Bootstrap Recovery using my bootstrap recovery app (found in the android market, now that I am done with the ROM I will focus on finishing the ad supported version of the app, for now please consider supporting my work and buying recovery from the market)
2) Perform a nandroid backup.
3) Dont wipe anything!
4) Select to flash the zip from your sdcard.
5) reboot. the update.zip will wipe your dalvik cache for you which will slow down your next boot, let it take a while, dont pull the battery.
6) Go to about and confirm it says bravoX RC2. The boot animation should be good proof the flash worked too

Enjoy! Consider flashing heydabop's battery mod, hopefully many more will use the rom as a starting point, i encourage you to make some cool flashable themes!
Loaded this on my brother's Bravo and so far its running great. Smooth and fast. Glad to see some development for Bravo users.

@heydabop this looks great on the phone, thanks!
@ bandroidx I do have one problem. When I try to launch the camera app it closes by itself and a message appears briefly saying, "Oops, cannot open camera, please try again later." I wiped cache and dalvik again just to make sure. I also cleared app data for it under application tab and still have the same problem. You think I should wipe data/cache/dalvik and reflash rom?

Lets wait to see if any other testers have this problem, maybe its unrelated in some way.
actually, you flashed heydabops framework? he did have market problems at one point, i wonder if camera is also affected.
Can someone w/o the batt mod or status bar mod report back
and someone else with the mod?
I will check my phone in the meantime.

Ok I just tested and my camera works fine w/ RC2 + heydabops dark status bar.
can you run alogcat and send me the log?
My camera works with my status bar, tho I'm still on RC1.
I had the problem before flashing heydabop's icons. I've never ran a logcat. I'll look up how to do it and get it to you.

Nice. I just got this loaded onto my phone along with heydabop's theme and it looks great so far even though I'm still having problems trying to get rid of this "permanent" sliding lock screen and get back the option "allow apps from unknown sources" since that disappeared and I have no clue how to fix those two.
The mod works fine, though.
So far so good Bando! Thanks for it all. I'm needing a lesson on UOT kitchen now.

So I've been sitting at "Opening update package..." for about five minutes.. does it usually take a while or can I pull the battery or what?
EDIT:
I pulled the battery. Will try again.

I am on Wilstangs ota gingerbread sense mod and have a UOT Kitchen file that has worked for me many times before. Now I recently just created a new nandroid of the same rom and for some reason the UOT Kitchen (changing the battery mod and notification pulldown) no longer works. Weird...
I have tried clearing cache and davlik but what keeps happening is when I boot up my notification pulldown is completly gone. (Wasn't like this before) Even just tried to make a brand new UOT file and the same thing keep happening.
I can restore my nandroid and get my pulldown working again but can't alter it with the kitchen...

I tried doing this but only after the problem had already occured. In a little bit I will restore the rom and try that first. Thanks man. Will let you know in a bit.
[Edit] And...It still didn't work. Really weird.
I removed a few more internal apps since I last installed this UOT Kitchen file. VZW Backup asst, Field Trail, GSD, VPN_Services, and ummmm HTML_Viewer. But I don't think removing those .apks would have any effect on this. I just can't explain why this once worked and no longer does on the same exact rom...
So after rebooting, TB shows Status Bar 2.3.4 uninstalled. Question is why does this keep happening?
Upload the UOT mod to dropbox and we can look at it.
It could be a problem with your updater script or something simple like that.
Well I just reloaded an earlier nandroid of the same rom, loaded the UOT file, and just updated the rom to where I was just at.
So I had to go the long way around but I got it there. Still dont know what was uninstalng my Status Bar each time before.
I installed the most recent MIUI ICS image, and installed Go Launcher EX after because I need an app drawer.
However I noticed that both in the stock launcher and Go Launcher, tons of my apps had this gross square background on them. Even already square icons like facebook have a second background behind them. I've fiddled around in all the settings I can think of and none of them turn this off.
Ideas?
I'd post an image but I have yet to obtain such permissions.
EDIT: I guess this is more of a general ICS question, since installing Launcher Pro didnt fix it either.
Trying to understand what you mean. Are you saying you want the ics icons instead of the miui icons?

MIUI ICS
I'm pretty experienced with flashing roms and bumped into this MiUI ICS for the EVO. I couldn't find the 4G, they haven't enabled WiMax yet for this rom?

Did you read anything about MIUI before flashing it?
The answer is no. There's never been 4G on MIUI. Probably never will be. It's Chinese, where they don't have wimax, and it's closed source, so devs can't add it in.
And to the OP, that's normal. Some themes will remove the icon background. If you want me to modify your theme or make one without icon backgrounds, just send me a pm. It'll just take a second.
MIUI ics v4 2.5.7
I've been trying to flash MIUI 2.5.7 v4, I do everything on the instructions, but still won't reboot, does anyone have any idea if there is anything else to do::
1. Downloaded the zip to root in sd
2. reboot into cm recovery
3. whipped apps data and dalvik cache
4. flashed zip file
5. try to reboot system, but these is the step where my phone stops doing anything.
I've tried to install without deleting apps an data, I've tried flashing with RA but still doesn't work....
Thanks...

Continue to use AmonRA to flash this or any other ROM [CM has been proven not to fully wipe when trying custom ROM]... You may want to wipe everything EXCEPT for your SDcard then try reflashing the ROM again... If for some reason that doesn't work then you may want to redownload the ROM again to eliminate the possibility of you trying to flash a bad download.

I'm quite certain it's not _exactly_ what he's been speaking of.
I've installed a GB MIUI on my HTC Desire and have similar problems.
It's not the MIUI theme icons vs. stock GB\ICS icons question.
It's that MIUI apparently ADDS a padding background under ALL app icons, regardless of the launcher you're using.
So even in GoLauncher I'm seeing these terrible "glass" green-tinted squares under ALL the friggin icons, even the ones which could absolutely do without it. If I knew whose idea it was not to make this optional - I'd buy an airline ticket to see him and do unspeakable things unto him.
Once MIUI ICS has it's theme ap all sorted out, you can change your icons to those of any theme that's out there. Heck, there are ICS themes now you can try and change them with.
That's one of the great things about MIUI. The fact that you can theme each individual aspect of the phone with just a few clicks.
Here, check this out

Also, Swiper's MIUI is on the verge of having 4G

No good. I downloaded a theme and applied its icons, but still get this icon background thing. Maybe it's because it's not vanilla MIUI but a variant (FCR MIUI).
See attached screenshot for example:
1. Icon "reader" is a custom icon set by me, it displays normally.
2. Icon "Cool Reader" is default app icon, shows with a background, same for "Calc".
UPD
Too bad, I was getting to like MIUI, but
- absence of trackpad2unlock
- no patch for 2-way recording in their kernels
- godawful iphonesque icon padding which won't go away
- no consistently working hardkey backlight disabling
are reasons enough to switch back to my original rom, which was not so snappy and cool, but offers all these benefits which are substantial.
I attempted to flash a .zip patch to remove the QSlide Apps part of the notification drop-down menu, and since then I've been getting constant messages of "System UI has stopped" and the status bar does not show at all. Tried a factory reset on the phone itself but to no avail. Going to attempt to flash system stock ROM from a .zip ... any other suggestions / advice???
Thanks in advance

Why do you guys keep flashing things without making a backup first?! Unfortunately there is no other way for you to get back to working order; you have to LGPST back to stock. Next time make a backup if you're going to flash ANYTHING.

I had something simpler happen with exposed framework, my status bar would disappear then I would get an error "system UI has stopped" . Just un installed all modules and removed exposed. Not sure if you are using exposed. But that's how I fixed mine.
When the f*ck did we get ice cream??
Can a mod move this to the Q&A section please before it gets out of hand. Not flaming you bro but we as a community need to keep things in order and post where we are supposed to post. Don't worry we've all posted in the wrong section a time or two.

You dont need to flash the whole thing just overwrite LGSystemUI.apk with the original one I attached, set correct permission and reboot.
You should backup any file you decide to change first..luckily the phone will still boot with a bad systemui apk
Hopefully that fixes it, hopefully what he flashed didn't change any other files outside of Systemui.

Thanks for the apk and sorry about posting in the wrong forum at first.....
How exactly should I go about installing the new apk though? When I used Package Installer it keeps saying "Application not installed" and doesn't run. Sideload Wonder Machine or something equivalent maybe? I had a tough time today with setting up LGPST so I'd like to save that as a last resort if possible.... Thanks for the responses though!
Never mind....figured it out. Forgot it had to be pushed over.... Needless to say I need to spend some more time around Android! It's been a while since I first got in the game.
Status bar is back up and running, and it even maintained removal of the QSlide Apps portion, which is what I was trying to fix all along -- my original screw up! All's well that ends well I guess.
Thanks all for your help! :good:
Modded SystemUI to include nav_bar tuner in SystemUI tuner prefs. I also added night mode capability, but not working for some reason. I'll try to figure it out.

You have to boot TWRP and replace the package
I tried modding my systemui + framework-res to enable ambient display but I got bootloop even though I placed meta-inf folder and manifest file. Btw. I have f3211 and my rom is not deodexed.
Edit: I finally got it working. Night mode also works but it's kinda bugged. Using toggle from quick settings works fine tho.

Same here. It's working sometimes, but sometimes not. Seems totally random. Sometimes I can't turn it on, and sometimes, when it's on,I can't turn it off. Anyway, I can't find a quick settings toggle for it. Where is it?
*edit* never mind, I found it, thanks for the tip.
Working on some framework mods, (dark framework, scrolling nav_bar, dynamic bars, toast, etc.), and I messed with something that fc's media process, but I can't figure out what. It's a layout file in SystemUI that controls the ongoing notifications in the status bar, like when you download something, and you see the arrow animation going down..
Any ideas? All functions still work fine, but when whenever that notification is called on, I get popup about media process fc.
Anyway, here's some screenshots. Hopefully I can figure it out and share.
Thanks man good
