[Q] Make sure that the SD card will allow data transfer - Sony Xperia M

hello i have a problem with the sd external card.
when I try to copy files to the SD I get this message:
note
transfer aborted.
Make sure that the SD card will allow data transfer
I can't even reverse the card with the internal memory.
when I go into the properties of Sd with Script Manager I get what you see in picture 1,
but when I go into the properties of internal memory picture 2.
sdcard0 attributes: drwxrwxr-x
sdcard1 attributes: d --- rwxr-x picture 3
this can be the difference, if you like I can change the attributes of the Sd?
thanks
My device have root permissions and firmware 15.1.C.2.8

[Q] SDCard, Astro File Manager and TitantiumBackup

I have Astro File Manager installed. I have not used it much but now have a question I can't find a answer to. I added some files to the SDCard when it was connected to my PC. I go to Astro and it looks like, at least on my Incredible that my sdcard is listed under mnt/emmc. I have installed the TitantiumBackup and it thinks my SDCard is mnt/sdcard but that looks like it is the internal memory when I connect the phone to the PC. I did a backup and instead of installing the backup to my sdcard it all went to the internal memory. What good is a backup there? I thought the purpose was to put the backup to the sdcard so you could easily have it on a external card.
If my sdcard should be mnt/sdcard how do I get the phone to use that for the removable sdcard? On the root of my internal file system I have a /sdcard folder which looks like it is the same as the /mnt/sdcard folder. The /mnt/sdcard/ and the mnt/emmc/ are different and the mnt/emmc/ folder has all my sdcard files and folders.
Am I missing something somewhere? Why is it so difficult to find the sdcard files and is there a way to fix my file system or TitantiumBackup to find the right system? I am at a loss on this one.
Titanium Backup shows -
External storage: /mnt/sdcard (ok)
Backup directory: /mnt/sdcard/TitantiumBackup
When phone is connected to the PC both of these are internal storage, not the SDCard. What, where should I see sdcard in Astro to really be the SDCard?
If it should be /mnt/sdcard how do I make the file system to use that and not use /mnt/emmc/ as the sdcard? I did a backup today and TitantiumBackup put all the files on the /mnt/sdcard/ area so now the backup is not on my sdcard. I could not find any place in TitantiumBackup to change where the backups go.
your post is extremely confusing.
just to clear some things up.
are you doing all this (checking on the pc and checking astro) at the same time? cause if you are you will see two different things. Unmount and switch to "charge only" if you want to see astro correctly on the phone.
/mnt/emmc is your internal memory
/mnt/sdcard is your sdcard
Always will be.

No, not checking both at the same time. Below is using Astro:
Astro = /mnt/emmc - sdcard
Astro = mnt/sdcard - internal memory
Connected to PC:
I don't see mnt or sdcard or most of what I see using Astro on the internal drive.
On the SDCard I see what I see under /mnt/emmc/ using Astro.
HTC Support said to mount the SD card from the phone to PC, copy all data to the PC and then unmount from PC and format the SD card. I did that, and after the format I went to copy all back to the card but the card was just as before the format. I unmounted the phone from the PC and Astro showed I formated the /sdcard - my phone data area. The /mnt/emmc (where my Incredible thinks the SD card is) had all the information showing as before.
The /mnt/sdcard only had 3 files, .android_secure (empty directory) LOST.DIR (empty directory) and tmp - .astro folder - astro.db. The /mnt/emmc/ has all my SD Card files and directories.
I know this is not set up right, especially when the format could / did not find the sdcard. Anyone know how to fix this to get it the way it should be?
HTC Support to the rescue. Since the in the phone format did not work, or at least work on the SD Card they had me take the original 2GB card that came with the phone and put it in a card reader on my PC and d0 a format there (FAT32). After the format I copied the files back to that card and put it in my phone. All works as it should, in a file manager /sdcard or /mnt/sdcard showed what was on my SD Card. I then put my 8GB card in the card reader on my PC and did a FAT32 format on it and then copied the files back to it. I then swapped the cards and now I can see the 8GB SD card as either /sdcard or /mnt/sdcard as it should.
Now all I need to find out is what should really be in /mnt/emmc and see if I can get that back the way it should be. Anyone know what directories & files should be there?

[Q] beanstalk 4.3 question

Hi, I recently installed beanstalk 4.3 on my S3 and noted that my internal memory is almost full but I can't figure out what is taking up all the space. I'm including a screenshot, are there any scripts or hacks to swap the internal and SD memory for this ROM?
thanks
Use a file explorer and look at the internal storage and see if there is a folder called 0. If this here than it is most likely the issue and you will need to update your recovery and clean out the 0 folder.

I cleaned up the 0 folder but noticed that on my internal memory root folder I have an external_sd and extsdcard folders (which have everything I have on my actual external sd card) in addition to the storage folder which contains my actual sd card (sdcard1) as well as the sdcard0 and emulated folder. I think this is what's using up all the memory (maybe?) any idea why all these folders were created? can I just erase the external_sd and extsdcard folders since all that data is in my actual sd card or are they bound?
sorry for all the questions but I dont want to mess anything up

No don't delete those folders. Those are linked to your SD card should have nothing to do with your internal memory. Nor sure what's going on with your internal memory though. You may want to try saving your 0 folder to a pc then deleting it entirely(the 0 folder). If that doesn't work then maybe go back to stock.

move files without causing loss

Hello. I have I have installed on my S4 the rom hyperdrive RLS 10.2 and I have few questions.

Yes, you can move TWRP and the Titanium Backup folder to your SD card. TWRP has an option up at the top that tells you if you're on the SD card or internal storage. Once you move those folders to your SD card, simply toggle that setting to the SD card and it will use your SD for your backups.
As for Titanium Backup, you'll have to manually set your backup location; just open the preferences -> backup folder location and point that to your SD card.

[Q] Copy files to SD Card?

How can I copy files from the internal storage to my SD Card? ES File explorer says it will not let me do it, because of system restrictions. (I don't want to root, so please suggest a Non-root method for me! )
If it's relevant at all, I have a Sandisk ultra class 10 32GB card.
Do you mean your internal storage (for me that is /) or do you mean your internal SD card (for me that is sdcard0).
From your internal storage (/) to any other location is root neccesarily essential. From your internal sdcard (sdcard0) to let's say your external sdcard (external_SD) is root not required and is done via a file manager like ES or Root Explorer.
If you tell us what you exactly want to copy we might be able to help you further.

Hi! I want to copy from sdcard0 to extsd. I figured it out. You have to use the stock file explorer if you want to do that. Apparently google has removed 3rd party access to copying files from internal SD to external SD. Thanks for your help!

SD card error: "Cannot move due to unknown reason"

I am using a new SanDisk 32GB card and software version V20H. I downloaded some MP3 files using uTorrent. However, if I select to save the files to the SD card directly, uTorrent gives an error "cannot write to disk" after downloading 10-15%. But when I choose to save to the internal memory, everything downloads fine. So I downloaded them to the internal storage and used the File Manager app to transfer the files from the internal storage to the SD card. However, even that fails after 10-15%. What's going wrong? The card is 100% fine as I can install apps and save pics/videos to it.
I had a similar problem with a Samsung 32GB card - transferring a large file (~1GB) directly to the card using wifi file sharing would fail at some random point, but the same transfer to the internal memory always worked. Copying the file from internal to external SD card also worked. When I switched to another card (Samsung 64GB) the direct file transfer problem disappeared.

In my case even internal -> external is failing. The files are a collection of small mp3 music files. I don't even have a clue to what's going wrong!
