Hey all. I'm running CM 11 on my Sprint GS3, and like many other custom ROMs that weren't touchwiz. I've been getting very poor data connectivity. I called Sprint to complain about my horrible voice coverage and they wanted me to dial ##76782# or something along those lines and it wouldn't dial. I told the operator I was on a custom ROM and he said there was nothing he could do unless I had the stock ROM.
Will being in stock help? I'm loving 4.4, but the coverage is killing me. Thanks!
My bad, I didn't see you accidentally made 2 threads.
Flash back to stock. Then try the dialer thing. The data issues could be because it is a 4.4 ROM.
Flash back to stock, try dialer code, and use stock for a bit. Then if coverage doesn't improve, it could be the towers. They may be doing upgrades in your area.

I flashed to a touch wiz variant and it works much better after doing the ##78765# or whatever the number was. I then restored after doing that and had the same issues. I guess I'm stuck with bad coverage or touch wiz.
I had the same issues on a 4.3 non touch wiz ROM previously, but didn't make the connection that it could be the ROM.

There are flashable .zip files available for all the previous Sprint modems plus the current MK3, possibly a previous modem will help with better signal/data connectivity. Latest and greatest modem doesn't always work perfect for everyone. Some Sprint users have had success with the Virgin Mobile modems as well (MG2 version). I'm on VM and have successfully used both Sprint and VM modems interchangeably.

Just wipe ur cache and dalvick cache then flash the modem and reboot then if ur on touchwiz do a prl update and profile update
I heard all aosp roms sucks with data. Something about using an outdated ril file that sprint doesn't open source anymore.
Coming from years with aosp ROMs on my phone, getting used to touchwiz sucks. But I do have to say 4.3 mk3 update doesn't lag or suck up my battery much. Just use a different launcher, I use nova beta without any problems changing DPI.

I obviously have a tmo T999 check the baseband, you might notice it is a LH2 I believe. Just trying to open doors for people for more options to flash is the point of the thread and hopefully bring some cross development to both forums.
wtf.. didn't know it would change your model number description.. anyways what rom is it?
Yeah I knew it would change my build prop, but had no idea the kernel would work. The Rom is sweet and it is listed at the bottom of the pic(not sure how to spell it) Love the options this might open up. Just understand, it will be unsupported, so you have to be able to trouble shoot it if any issues arise(none as of 3+ hours)

Need Help Doing this.
I am new to this Android world. I came from AppleLand. I got T-mobile branded Galaxy S3 witch is SIM unlocked and currently using it with AT&T. I would like to flash AT&T rom on this t-mo Galaxy S3. I have no clue where to start and how to do it. I read on this forum that flash counter is may be a problem if I flash non stock ROM. My question is
1. Is it possible to flash ATT rom on T-Mo galaxy S3?
2. That counter thing is going to be a problem?
3. Is my phone has to be ROOTED first?
4. All AT&T apps will work?
5. If there is any problem, Can I go back to T-Mobile rom?
Thanks.

Can't wait to get some good MIUI ROMs on this phone, has anyone with a T999V tried flashing AT&T ROMs yet?
Just an update, I have flashed a working Sprint Rom, I had to edit the apn before flashing(if you don't know how to and what this is, don't do it you will not have data) but the Rom runs great. The Verizon Roms want to verify you are on Verizon, so I am working on it. So I have run AT&T and Sprint Roms with success with working data.
Didn't see it mentioned but if you want a good cm10 rom check out the at&t forum. I'm running it and its great. I'm glad to have themes back

If you mean jellybeer its good but laggy and usb mount doesnt work. Will there ever be an tmobile specific aosp builds or do we rely on the at&t ones?
Don't know that but got tired of waiting. It wasnt laggy for me. I really only like it for the themes and just found out we could use att roms
From the Best: Note 2
tsf shell lagged when i used it with jellybeer and only got 4000 on quadrant
Running jelly beer now, very smooth for me. SPB Shell 3D for me, and no lag. Missing multi Window but otherwise very good.

I'm using madmack's 12-13 build of CM10. It's working perfectly for me... everything works. It's very stable. His ROM is in the "original" development section of the AT&T Note 2 forums. Just flash it along with JB gapps. He has also started working on CM10.1, but not everything is working.
EDIT: I have not tried mounting to my PC yet.

What do you have to do different from flashing a regular rom with the tmobile modem and everything? I downloaded jellybomb from at&t note 2 forum and the t889 uvalj1 modem, but when I try to flash the rom it fails, and the modem wont show up in twrp because it isnt .zip. Any help greatly appreciated.

Download the file again. I tried Jellybeer, it works great. You don't need to flash the modem, it's not included in the ROM. Make sure you flash JB gapps. I wasn't getting a signal on first boot of Jelly beer. I can't remember if it was a reboot or cache/dalvik wipe that fixed it.

The hardware is the same, except the radio. If you take any 7105 (7105, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-mobile) rom and the T-Mobile radio uou have a T-mobile ROM.

I did get the CM10 rom in the At&t Note 2 Original development thread to flash and so far it is working flawlessly. All i did was flash the rom and the gapps. No radio or modem or anything. Does that mean the rom didnt include a specific radio or modem or does it just not matter?

AT&T - JELLYBEER
At&T - JELLYBAM
AT&T - CleanRom
N7105 - International LL1
AT&T - JellyThunder
If you are new to flashing, please dont be the first to try new Roms. And apparently no 7100 roms!!!
Ive read somewhere we can flash any US Variant Rom as long as no modem or radio is included. But I find that hard to believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I know for a fact (as I have tried myself) AT&T, T-Mobile (obviously), 7105, and Sprint. Sprint did require a kernel flash (boot.img). Otherwise a modem flash is required (unless the Rom does not flash the modem, then you need not flash a modem)
Basically here is how it works:
T-Mobile : ROM
AT&T: ROM, modem
7105: ROM, modem
Sprint: ROM, modem, kernel
I would guess, Verizon would work the same as Sprint.
Sent from my SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
EDIT: had to add AOSP kernels are not the same as stock Samsung kernels. Basically for AOSP kernel get the boot.img from your CM7/AOKP/PA whatever AOSP ROM for your phone (I took it from madmack's CM10 and applied it to the Sprint PA ROM)

There is a dev, Teshxx who is doing a fine job of porting international and roms from other carriers. He uses the rom for a base and adapts it to the T889. The N7105 roms are stock samsung, no carrier bloat.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
Hi there guys. I too can confirm this. The all us carrier deal anyway. There are easy ways and there are better or right ways. The easy way only really requires a few lines swapped and or deleted on the rom you want and the rom your specific device requires. I've tested twice. Sprint and att via testing the two ports done by a few verizon users . However from what we've experienced ( mind you this us s3 and not note 2) you don't have to flash or worry as far as I've noticed any radios or rpm as those are written to the partitions via your ota or flashing seperately ..And we also flashed different kernel. This is just more testimony and not saying I know any facts or that I personally port or figured this out on my own. A couple of very nice devs in our verizon forum shared this info. And now many are succeeding. Thanks and hope I'm not jacking your note 2 thread. Lol

Hello Everyone, I have a friend that just got an Epic 4g touch, and has metroPCS, her phone is for sprint. I want to be able to Flash it so it would work with Metropcs. From the thread's ive seen so far it looks like it is only with a certain modem I was hoping to flash This ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2051374 It looks to be good. SO my question is this possible? Or do I just have to flash an old version of andoid for it to work? I am hoping to get this done before Friday, any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
You can flash any Rom, kernel and modem for metro pcs, that's what I'm on right now. Just look up the flashing guide for metro pcs and set up everything through cdma workshop and the phone settings. Then flash the metro pcs mms fix in Android development for the type of Rom, whether it is aosp or touchwiz based.

That flashing thread shows you how to flash prl. To switch your number over you need to have a cheapy phone activated already on Metro PCS and then use the information that phone is activated with on your E4GT. That thread has a lot of information and that's where I learned to flash. If anything post there and others more experience than I can help you better.
