Matte Black Diztronic Case vs Supcase Unicorn Beetle - Nexus 5 Accessories

Hello I am torn between these two cases for my newly purchased Nexus 5, both look great but my main concern is fit and button feedback. I am really picky on have a case when it comes to button feedback, it needs to have a very "clicky" feedback when I press on the buttons. I have read reviews on the Diztronic Case and many have said that the feedback is really clicky, but on the Unicorn Beetle case I have read mixed reviews where some have said it has very little feedback at all. Another factor where I am really picky is the fit, the case must be contoured to the phone and not boxy and the phone should not be able to just slide out of the case unintentionally. I am torn between the Matte Black Diztronic Case and the Black and Clear Supcase Unicorn Beetle. May someone share their experience between the Diztronic Case and the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Case regarding button feedback and fit?

Take a look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481184

Thank you I read that thread but I was looking for someone with experience with both of the cases.

I own both and have to say I prefer the Supcase Unicorn Beetle by far. However, since you seem to really care about the "clicky" feedback when pressing the buttons, the Unicorn Beetle may not be for you. The buttons on the case work just fine, but you won't find the feedback you're looking for. However, the Unicorn Beetle is designed with care and it really shows. The Diztronic feels like just another two-tone TPU case and doesn't feel like a premium case at all. But then again, it's not expensive.
The Unicorn Beetle, in all honesty, could be priced $20 easily due to the sturdy construction, use of high-quality materials, and overall more attention to details. I would buy the Unicorn Beetle. You get over the non-clicky feedback within a day.

I can't decide... (yep another case thread)

I wanted a as slim as possible case and I wanted it to protect all the way around the perimeter of the phone. Here are the choices (in order from first to last), help me decide.
Rearth Ringke Slim - At $28 it's a bit expensive and it doesn't cover the sides. Also looks to be less grippy since it's hard smooth plastic.
BoxWave Blackout - I'm worried it's thicker than a case like the Rearth, but with that said it protects all around and is really cheap at $12. I think the material is more rubber like which sounds more appealing to a gloss hard case. Not many reviews anywhere for this case.
elago G4elago G4 - I'm not sure about this case in general.
Thanks for your input.
Personally I like the Leather style flip cases, The one that doubles up as a wallet.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-WAL..._MobilePhonesCasesPouches&hash=item3374db7913
I would never pay more than £10 (delivered) for a case.
in terms of slimness i've basically narrowed it down to two giants.
1. sgp ultra thin
2. casemate barely there.
not sure which ones better but from what i can tell they're pretty much the same, both at a hefty 25 bucks.
anyways, i'm in the same boat as you. XD
not sure which case to get.

I have the rearth and it is very slim, the only down side it is a beeeoootch to take off (i have a dock/charger for the phone) and if you take it on and off a lot it cracks and the part closet to the usb port cover, nothing earth shattering it actually makes it much easier to take the case off - that and the sgp ultra clear and it is almost like having nothing on the phone at all.
I have used diztronic cases for the last year (for my SII and now my N7000). They are very similar to the boxweave case you posted.
http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Fle...0386413&sr=8-3&keywords=diztronic+galaxy+note
As you know TPU protects like a silicon case but doesn't stick in your pocket or collect lint and dust due to it not being "sticky" feeling. I recently sold my SII for over $300 after 8 months of daily use because my SII was in perfect condition as a result of being in a diztronic tpu case. No, I never dropped the phone on cement or anything but I dropped my SII on the carpet from 5+ feet and the phone was unchanged when I picked it up. Didn't pop out of case or battery, etc. Because the tpu cases have a 1/8 or so "lip" on the front they also allow the phone to be placed face down on flat surfaces. IMHO and experience, a good tpu case is all you need to fully protect your phone unless you work in construction or somehow expect to drop it on cement.
So, my vote goes to the boxweave or diztronic cases. BTW I got 2 diztronics for $14 from amazon, the black matte and smoke matte. Great deal!
^I'm actually thinking of getting a real cheap TPU case like that I can mod. My ideal case is a TPU Bumper, maybe the Boxwave Black out without the back part but have the vol and power buttons cut out. I guess it's just not feasible so far... ?
Anyway, Thanks for the input so far guys, keep it coming.
bumper TPU from Amazon

first post here,
I have one of these.
search amazon for bumper cases.
I'm not allowed to post urls.
I like it, I have it on right now. What I have is different from what's
in the pictures. No cutouts for the buttons and the other cutouts are not
as big. The covers of the buttons are pretty sensitive, unlike the covers
for the Boxwave type which I got from Hongkong for 2 bucks.
Check amazon out, they have a lot of cases.
I also have the elago Breathe case, I love them I have two.
I ended up taking my chances on this. I guess it's going to be as close as I get. Thanks everyone, I'll let you know how it is when I get it.

I have the 3 of them
Go for the Rearth Ringke Slim , is THE BEST OF ALL !!!
Hi all, I'm in a similar dilemma.
I've got a choice between these two:
https://www.gearzap.com/media/catalog/product/3/4/34484-2.jpg
and
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HYBRID-SI...lePhonesCasesPouches&var=&hash=item416682f7b6
I know I should pick the Zenus, but would the inside bit that holds my phone scratch the outer bezel? And since the hybrid one has a silicon case THEN a hard outer shell I figured it would be good too. Any ideas?
Thanks!
I use a an SGP Ultra thin. Comfortable case. Considering the size of the phone the case is great. Merges with the Phone. +1 anytime.
I ordered this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160732471512?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649. It has a stand that works in both axis.

[REVIEW] Amcase Ultra Slim Case

Hey guys this is my review of the Amcase Ultra slim case for the nexus 5. This is my first time doing a review so I'll cover what I like and don't like. I took pictures of the case on the Nexus 5 with my Galaxy S3 camera so it might not look that great. I took a seperate picture of the case itself with my Nexus 5 so you could have a better idea on how it looks.
Pros
Very nice percision fit (takes effort to get it off)
Great material it's similar to the same grippy material on the black nexus 5 cases
Feels great in your hand
Barely notice the case at all
Cons
No protection if dropped
Finger prints (Not really a big con but that's why i bought a white nexus)
Don't like that the buttons are not covered like spigen (Personal preference)
No protection on top or bottom edges
Overall this is a really nice case if you're going out to a nice event and want a stylish looking case. I never noticed how bulky my spigen hybrid was compared to this. I will use spigen for the protection it offers from drops but I'll have this for when I want my phone to look good and feel like it's naked.
Edit: Here's the amazon link http://www.amazon.com/amCase-Slim-F...qid=1384892370&sr=8-4&keywords=amcase+nexus+5
I just posted a review on Amazon for this. Overall a pretty nice case. If anything I'm returning the Spigen
Full disclosure The Mfr sent me the item to test out, however I take the price of the item into full account basing my review.
Very minimalistic case that is similar to the Spigen Ultra Fit Slim case which I had before and will be comparing against.
Pros:
1) Soft touch on this case is "softer" and does not collect fingerprints as much
2) There are no sharp edges like on the Spigen cases
3) Cheaper than the Spigen case in price
4) Works with Qi Chargers (as to be expected from thin cases)
Pro or Con:
1) There is no edge lip where the power button and volume rockers are. Good because this makes it easier to press the buttons. But it is slightly less protection in that area, though that is questionable
2) Camera cutout is a teardrop rather than 2 circles. Doesn't really seem to be a big difference either way.
Con:
1) Wish there was more coverage on top and bottom. There is slightly more edging around the corner for the spigen cases
2) Logo is more tastefully done for the Spigen rather than the amcase (Spigen case is engraved in)
I have the AmCase Ultra Slim case as well, and here are my thoughts:
+ GREAT feel. Smooth, soft and rubbery. Does show fingerprints and grease, like most other soft-touch matte black finishes.
+ Maintains slim design of Nexus 5.
+ Flash module cutout is large, i.e. good. (Other cases with tiny, circular flash module cutouts produce distorted photos when flash is used because the flash bounces off the sides of the tiny cutout and reflects back into the camera lens).
+/- Extremely slim. Thinner than Spigen Ultra Slim.
+- Very slight lip wraps around to the screen and lifts the screen maybe .5mm off the surface of a table. Enough to protect the screen from a grain of sugar, but not enough to protect against a grain of salt.
- Top and bottom of phone are left open and not protected by the shell. Other similar snap-on shell-style cases for the Nexus 5 (I've owned 3 so far) protect the top and bottom very slightly. This case has even less top and bottom protection.
I love the feel of this case! I can't get enough of it lol. I switch it out between my spigen ultra hybrid when I don't need the added protection.

Funny, this is exactly what I'm doing lol Best slim case for the money. (And I honestly believe this is the best slim case even if the price is doubled) I would easily recommend amCases from now on.
I have a video review if you guys want to check it out:
Just received mine literally a few minutes ago from UPS. Easily the best slim case so far and way better than that crappy Reearth Ringke slim case. I have the white Nexus 5 and it feels really nice and premium on the phone. Added the needed grip I was missing and you can barely tell it is on the phone. Not to mention no sharp corners. I recommend this case to anyone looking for a nice, quality slim case. For 5 dollars, hell you can't go wrong lol.
Not really helping my addiction lol
Just ordered Amazon Prime should be here Wednesday.......... Thanks I think lol

I use it as the benchmark for slim cases. I just ordered some cheap sand cases for a dollar each and they seem too rough on the inside and and the edges too sharp as well. I got spoiled by this case haha.

Hyperion TPU case

Does anyone have the hyperion TPU case? How does it compare to the diztronic? Are the buttons easy to press? The reviews on amazon seem pretty good but I was wondering if anyone here had experience with this Hyperion case.

Hyperion doesn't really manufacture cases. They repackage ebay cheapos and sell them as their own.
The one from Amazon is the same one as below.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Quality-TPU...DA_Cases&var=570210588466&hash=item3f2ba86eb0
I ordered just to check it out. I've attached a couple of pics.
It isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The buttons are slightly harder to press and you get almost no feedback. Overall, it has a very cheap feel to it.
I've tried most cases available and settled for the Diztronic.
The Spigen Neo Hybrid, Slim Armor, Ultra Hybrid and Ringke Fusion alter the natural contours of the phone by giving it a boxy shape. They're bulky, uncomfortable to hold and are slippery.
The Spigen Ultra Fit feels closest to the Nexus 5 finish but has sharp edges which makes it uncomfortable to hold. Plus, it provides very little protection.
The Diztronic maintains the natural shape of the device which makes for a pleasant experience while using the phone. The matte finish feels quite nice as well. It is very lightweight and doesn't bulk up the phone.
They're on the 2nd revision of the case which addressed all anomalies. Use code "repeatbuyer" for 10% off.

What are some good cases & protectors?

I'm looking for some good cases that give protection. I've never had a case with good protection, like right now I have literally a somewhat hard plastic shell that is still flimsy I also have a standard no name dry screen protector.
I'm wondering what are some cases to look at that offer protection but aren't insanely bulky. I want lightweight to medium protection (I always thought those hardshell + rubber cases were neat). Also any flaws like I saw some cases people said headphone jacks wont fit or gaps that invite dust etc. I don't know about these tempered glass screen protectors but if anyone wants to recommend one too.
Sorry if this is a spam post because I have been sifting around and looking to see what's best but it's hard to read thousands of comments and then the reviews haha.

I been looking up on the same query, and seems like there are 2 options which got real good feedbacks:
1) Spigen Slim Armor (2 part case: hardshell + silicon)
2) Diztronic TPU case
Gonna read on Supcase as well, but the above two mentioned really have been quite comprehensive.
Spigen
+ Provides excellent protection.
+ Snug fit and top quality product.
- Slight bulk added. (Not too bothersome)
- The back of the phone is rendered flat due to the case design.
The TPU case
+ Provides good protection
+ Next to no bulk added and is like next to having no case at all.
+ It's back is curved, which makes it easier to hold.
- Semi slippery to hold

Hey thanks for the reply! I've heard that the TPU case sometimes has a poor cutouts. Not sure if you have read that either, the slippery holding is worrisome though haha. Is there a specific Spigen case that is the best out of the ones they offer? Let me know what you find out about the Supcase. I'm still browsing around and reading reviews trying to find what is the optimal "overall best" case
Slim Armor is the best.
Black, because it has soft touch.

How's the ultra hyrbid par up with slim armor? The armor looks like it'd be too bulky like an otterbox
It's a little bulky but it's not intrusive. The ultra hybrid I bought was a waste of money. Buttons were hard to press. The plastic scratched deep easily (yes the film was off), it also had a gap where a bunch of crap got between the case and the phone.

I spoke about a specific Spigen case earlier in my post - Spigen Slim Armor.
There were reports that the earlier batch had issues with the buttons, but seems like the revised case have got the anomaly removed.
Looks like a Fantastic product and i would definitely be inclined to get it.
BUT,
I have not even seen the Diztronic or any other case for that matter. People been impressed with Diztronic, it has been revised as well so the cut outs have been treated after feedbacks. So again, if you want bullet proof protection, go for the Spigen Slim Armor, and if you want a light weight casing, Diztronic is the way to go.
I will read about the Supcase sometime next week maybe. No rush for me as i already got the case delivered. So the supcase reading will be only for information gleaning purposes.
if you find anything worthy, mention it here and gimme a shout
Pretty happy with my Slim Armor, though the button covers are very sensitive so my phone has rebooted a few times since I've installed it. Spigen is sending me a replacement TPU inner shell. Going to wrap the outer shell in carbon fibre tonight, will post pics when I'm done, assuming I can do a decent job.
I have a fosmon TPU/plastic shell with holster from amazon for $5 and it's pretty solid. It is a bit bulkier than the Slim Armor but very small, and only in thickness. Great deal for $5, and I use the holster with the slim armor.

[Q] Best case?

I bought the Nexus 5 and it's amazing. I've already got a screen protector but now I'm still looking for the right case. My first choice was the official bumper case but that isn't an option anymore because it isn't only unavailable at the moment, but most of the people also say it starts to peel off very quickly. So I kept looking for a case that could satisfy my needs. I want to have a good-looking case that delivers the protection the N5 needs, but doesn't add too much bulk so it wouldn't look like some kind of dragon. I also want to mention that I'm not looking for any kind of flip cover because a phone is a phone and not a book.
So after some research I've come down to 2 cases that both give a good impression. Spigen Case Slim Armor and Spigen Case Neo Hybrid. They both have a fairly good reputation so I really can't decide which one to get. I also don't really know the difference. I guess they are the same in thickness. The Slim Armor one probably has better protection and from what I've read isn't as slippery as the Neo Hybrid one, but that case probably also has nice features.
Which one should I get? Or are there better cases available? Thanks in advance!

I have bought like a whole load of cases and found that my favorite case is a simple TPU case like Distronic's cases (I like the black one, the white/clear/frosted design gets discolored over time) they don't make the phone overly bulky, provide pretty good drop protection and are pretty cheap. I have owned Spigen's slim armor and the slim armor with the flip cover and while they are great cases they made the phone a little more chunky than I liked.

+1 for diztronic
It adds fairly good protection but less bulk than most cases(not counting hard shells). Buttons are easy to press and it looks and feels good. It's cheap too!
I've also had spigen neo hybrid but found it too bulky and slippery. Buttons and looks were nice tho.
Btw clear diztronic is out of stock and they dont sell it anymore.
I'd stay away from hard cases such as the ringke slim or spigen hard crystal shell as they scratched up my phone
+1 for soft
Go with the slim armor. One of the best cases I've had, and I've had A LOT of cases. Its a lot more comfortable to hold over the neo hybrid.

My favorite case by far is the Magpul Field. https://store.magpul.com/product/MAG474/cases
Magpul looks awesome dude. Not those clear backs. My ringke got scratched up real bad. Neo hybrid looks decent, in fact I'm getting it. Considering a diztronic as well. I-blason is decent too.
I haven't got the specific Spigen cases you're interested in but I do have the Spigen ultra fit and ultra hybrid. I have been using both cases for the past year (the ultra fit mostly because it doesn't add as much bulk as the ultra hybrid) and both are very good cases that I like. However, I recently ordered the Diztronic case and I'm waiting for it to arrive. The reason is I recently used my previous phone with a Diztronic case and it reminded me that I generally prefer good quality TPU cases more. So I decided I may as well get a Diztronic case for my Nexus 5. As you may see, I agree with the others in recommending the Diztronic case.
I have the Spigen Case Slim Armor, a Tech21 case, and a TPU case, I prefer the Tech21, as a matter of fact I dropped my phone just the other day, and it landed flat on it's back, I thought for sure the screen would be shattered, but nope, all is well.
The Tech21 seems to have more of an "Air cushion" between the case and back of the phone.

Well, I have a pretty cheap one at the moment, this one (it's indeed not a very pretty one). The case barely adds any bulk but it doesn't give the safest feeling. I'm protected for any scratches but I don't think these kind of cases absorb impact very well, so I'll probably still go for something chunkier but then I'll at least know I'm pretty safe.

From what I've read the Neo Hybrid is a bit overrated and doesn't feel very good in the hand. So yeah, I'll probably get the Slim Armor one.

These cases are probably really well-made but I don't think they protect that good if you compare it to the bulkier cases, definitely not against drops.

The Tech21 seems to have more of an "Air cushion" between the case and back of the phone.

I thought the Spigen Slim Armor also has these air cushions?
I felt like that too until this convinced me that a TPU case is good enough.

The Cruzerlite cases are pretty similar to the Diztronic ones.

I love them too. Very good feel in hand. I don't know it until I bought one. I know the Official one now unavailable but still we have a lots high quality one in eBay. Not OEM, but still very good (even similar if you ask me)
I'm using spigen case
i get it for free from Nexus gift pack
It's nice, and it feels like the original back of nexus
Had both the Neo Hybrid and the Slim Armor and prefer the Neo Hybrid.
I found that in comparison to the Neo Hybrid, the Slim Armor added too much bulk to the phone. The back of the NH feels better (rubber, a bit like the original back of the phone) while the back of the SA is more slippery (metal). The buttons on the SA required too much force to press and you don't really feel any feedback while pressing.
The only reason I would choose the SA over the NH is for the extra protection, but for me the NH offers more than enough protection (dropped it a few of times indoor and outdoor, only some minor scruffs on the corners of the case).
Didn't Spigen used to sell just the outer band for the neo hybrid? That way you can have a few different colors if you like
