Film protector - XPERIA X10 Accessories

Do i really need a film protector for x10? Or i can use the phone without one. Is there a danger to scratch the screen?

I'm sure the scratch resistance is not that good. I would use a protector. The tech in 2010 wasn't as good as today's

Any screen protectors that don't scratch?

Alright, I know the point of a screen protector is that it takes scratches instead of the screen. But I bought a screen protector off ebay and it took 48 hours of normal usage for a scratch to appear on the screen protector.
While my screen is fine, the colour is skewed where the scratch on the protector is. So i'm going to have to replace that.
Any recommendations for a screen protector that won't scratch so easily and screw up colours fast?
Have you tried an invisibleShield? I like using them and have no complaints about the colours. Also, the sensitivity is nice.

You can pay a lot for a Zagg protector or get the same thing off eBay for like $10 with the same warranties. Hope this helps yeah out
I prefer Best Skins Ever. Same material as Zagg or InvisibleShield, less than half the price.
Invisibleshield

I got ghost armor at the mall a few months ago, this stuff is amazing... it hasn't peeled yet and if it does the replacement is free. I've even shown it off by scratching my screen with my keys and I have no scratches whatsoever.

I prefer Bodyguardz myself. All of the good things about the invisibleshield but without most of the bad points (sticky screen, bad orange peel effect, browning of edges etc)
And you get 2 in a pack too!
I don't know what it is about this screen protector but it's amazing stuff, I only wish I had got it sooner.

I know exactly what you're looking for. Depending on your phone model, look at either the Pocket PC Techs 'Write Shield' crystal, or 3M's Vikuiti screen protectors. Both are made of a plastic that resists scratches. I've tried sheets from Boxwave and Fellowes and like you, I found that whatever plastic they use doesn't last.
Have a look at my installation guide, too. There are links to the respective brands I suggest in the post.

Invisible shield works best for me . + their warranty is pretty good .
Invisible shield works the best.
Zagg makes invisibleshield. I have no idea who make that comment....
Anyways, I got my invisibleSHIELD today and installed it. There are some slight misformed area but some of them is said to go away in 2-3 days. We'll see. Their support has been HORRIBLE though.

Screen protector or not

Just want to gather some opinions, pros and cons of using screen protector (or not). I just took the protector off and love it, less residues and less mess. I have a notebook style case so the screen is protected when not used.

I've owned the phone since January without a screen protector and it still looks great. I would get one, but I've read that most of them stop short of cover I g the edges.

I would highly recommend ghost armor to anyone, it's great, I had a realook before it and that was horrible.

The Nitro HD already has Gorilla Glass coating on the screen. Think of a screen protector this way; It's like having a liquid bandage on a cut AND putting a regular bandaid on top of it. Sure, you can be extra protective and put that extra bandaid on, but there's already protection on it.
I've had my Nitro since release date and not only don't I have a screen protector, I don't have a case or any other protector on it either, I just carry it right in my pockect!...Absolutely no scratches, nicks, dings, nothing, nada.
I use the zagg invisible shield and I fully recommend it. Only piece of glass that is exposed is the front facing camera. I haven't noticed any sort of reduction in screen quality when looking directly at it, but with the screen off or when turned a t certain angles, the Orange peel texture can be seen...And gorilla glass is scratch resistant, not scratch proof.

I've just been using ishieldz and ya it's survived my kid chewing on it and throwing it across the room. There's been times I though she wrecked it but it just molds back into shape.

SHOULD
I have an galasy s2 with no screen protection and when put in tight pocket jean it's scratch too much (I think there's some sand in that so it can scratched it)
And when I switch to LG LU6200 I try to use carefully but I suddenly saw a "dot scratch" on my screen
I'm very disapointed in gorilla class so we should use screen protection
it's very funny that when use nylon screen protection, sometimes I see some scratch on that nylon but it disappear later
I think you should need lock screen. it save battery, avoid unreal touch (when you put in pocket),...
I decided to go without a screen protector for the past month, and I am happy with my decision thus far. I baby my phone and I just love the look and feel of the actual glass.

Without a screen protector the phone get some tiny scratches barely seen
Ever since my first android device got its first scratch (over 4 years ago) I've always kept cheap eBay screen protectors on all my phones. Cheap insurance. The ones I buy are like $0.75 each (they come in packs of 3 or 5 usually). The ones I got for the Nitro are slightly too narrow, but they cover the important area.

You favorite screen protector?

Just in the market for a new screen protector and wanted some input from you guys.
So what is the current screen protector that you guys are rocking on your S3?
Also, how do screen protectors stack up to each other?
(Zagg vs Ghost Armor vs Mercury vs Spigen vs Military Shield and others)
Spigen Curved Crystal! Its a dry install protector thats almost edge to edge maybe a few mm's short, but it definitely sticks on the edges. Feels and looks like there as if nothing on the screen. Only complaint is that is does scratch somewhat easily but whatever. Also two protectors come in each pack.
I always used clear-coat on my devices. Love their products and customers support. Just bought me some xtreme guards and love it also.. very cheap and works awesome.

also using the sgp curved crystal with a modello case. i bought it knowing about the scratching and denting issues and have been completely satisfied with it. was using a bestskinsever wet application before and don't know if i'd ever be able to go back. the drag drives me nuts.
any idea of what may a good matte screen protector that goes all the way to the edges? most i've found are all too small
quick tip dont buy the £4 ones from sainsburys they dont cover the full screen and make the touchscreen unresponsive
My favorite is the dba just like glass
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
these are the three I like.
skinplayer 3D mask film for edge to edge coverage, once on you don't notice it.
fonemax glass screen protector
mercury edge to edge protector with colour boarder.
I use Vikuiti. It's less well-known, but the people who've seen often don't notice I even have a protector on, until I point it out to them. It doesn't cover the whole front, and is pretty much made to fit the width of the screen, and length of the phone. Haven't found the need to use any other brand of protectors so far :good:
I would suggest Spigen Ultra Crystal! Good protection, scratch resistance, fit to any case!..
Hands down Steinhill ultra crystal...
It's the best, it's thick but not to thick, feels like glass, smooth as can be.. They are just the best I tried all other protectors nothing comes close.... I don't buy any other for my phones..
I bought a bunch from DealExtreme. They are extremely cheap and high quality. Since most people in manufacturing in China nowadays, possibly the ones I got are the exact same ones sold by brand names for 100x more.
I use gorrila glass, stuff never gets scratches :-]

Actually, it protects the lcd behind it, as well as provide touch controls. So yes, it is technically a screen protector

i might as well bubble wrap it, best protection and water proof.:fingers-crossed:
Steinheill Ultra Crystal for me ,
feels like there is nothing over your screen
A silky-smooth fabric pouch.

The included shatter proof screen protector

So the Sony Acro S comes with a shatter proof film or screen protector which is supposed to hold the glass in its place if it shatters ? , what good will that do ? now i was thinking of removing it an apply a standard screen protector over the screen, my question is many people say the raw screen is much more responsive (specially the buttons) and the screen appears brighter ? so should i go for it or keep it ?
It will keep the pieces in the phone and thus protect yourself, your children or pets from cuts. You can also probablys use the phone with the cracked screen if all pieces are in place. I got some nasty scratches in mine, so I removed it and ordered a gadgetshieldz screen protector. Can't say I noticed any difference with factory protector off...
Installation of the new protector was easy, since the phone is water resistant.

Is it necessary to have a screen protector on the Galaxy S4?

The screen is scratch resistant right? Do I really need a screen protector?

Personal preference; but just remember... scratch resistant doesn't mean scratch proof. I use Zagg Invisible shield protectors; it's definitely not the same as going fully naked, but I'd rather have that little, thin, barely noticable piece of plastic over that beautiful screen and remove any hope of scratching it than to pull it out of my pocket and see that fateful 3mm scratch right in the center of the screen.
Depends on you use it. The scratching doesn't happen when you use it. It happens in your pocket and laying around.
I've never used screen protectors. But I also keep my phone in my front pockey BY ITSELF all the time. Never in my pocket with my keys or anything like that.

You know, Skipjacks, they say the Gorilla Glass screens don't scratch from keys or cigarette lighters, or whatever; it's more than likely going to come from dust or little pieces of dirt/sand/grit in your pocket lint.
yes get a screen protector. A case is your choice but a screen protector is a must.
The screen will scratch very easily ... with anything in your pocket including keys...
The thing is, if you keep it without a screen protector your gonna see a tiny lil scratch ...and then a few days later you will see another... and then before you know it your screen is gonna be filled with them.
So yeah get a screen protector.
Get a tempered glass. Feels like the screen is naked.

In teh 2 and a half years I've had a smart phone Iv'e seen no scratches from keeping it in my pocket.
It don't hurt to have one ;] Spigen makes some great thin tempered glass ones which I would recommend.
The screens on these phones don't scratch. Google "gorilla glass drag test" and see for yourself. Screen protectors are a waste as they scratch very easily. Even the so called tempered or hardened protectors are no where near as scratch resistant as the screen itself. I've broken my screen twice but have never managed a single scratch.

Every electronic device i have ever owned (even my Moto Razer, the old flip one..) had a screen protector. I only buy the cheap ones on ebay, 6 for like a dollar 99 or something sweet like that. Totally worth it.
When I first got my s4, I used a screen protector. I just recently took it off, about 2 months ago and I couldn't be happier, no scratches yet..

I had my phone naked for the first 2 months I owned it, then started noticing tiny scratches when I looked at the display in the sunlight.
I went and bought a Spigen Glas.t Tempered Glass Screen Protector and Spigen Neo-Hybrid case, but as said above; not necessary but is preffered.

That's my same setup. I bought the NeoHybrid case to protect the back and sides, and the Glas.t nano (.15mm) slim protector. It's as thick as a regular plastic protector that you can get for a few bucks anywhere, but is a smooth glass that feels like a naked screen and would give good protection from shattering. The idea is on a fall or anything, the screen protector will shatter and protect the actual screen like an airbag. Also doesn't look like it smudges as much as the actual screen. I'm loving it so far. :good:
Try this one "GEARMAXX Screen Protector" which be available in eBay.
Good quality with well customer service and easy application. Best protectors money can buy.
