Does Anyone Else Find The "Quick Reply" Button Redundant? - About xda-developers.com

It's supposed to be quick right? But it's the exact same amount of button clicks (one) as adding a new reply via the other button when on other vB setups no click is required. The page has to refresh one less time but the whole process isn't "quick" at all if you ask me.
Just my 2 cents...

I think the quick reply button is actually quicker..In the new reply, it loads whole other page taking lot of time in slow connections while in quick reply, no matter on which section of thread you are, just clicking the button would take you directly to the quick reply text box
Cheers,
AJ

It doesn't take you to another page, and it's accessible from any post (and not only the top or bottom of the page). That's pretty quick, especially for longer threads (or when you're viewing more than 10 posts at once).

1. lets say you wrote a sentence and then you need to correct something 5-6 words back , how do you move back by "jumping" words. instead of holding down "left".
2. the most important question - how do you "page down" or speed up the scrolling. this gets a bit frustrating in web pages with a lot of content or long texts. please dont tell me the only way to do it is hold "down" and wait.
thanks

Okay, I won't tell you that. (heh. the real reason for my reply).
Seriously, this is a sorely lacking feature. Maybe an enterpising developer will come up with an app that would create key combos to do this kind of thing, and bring the dash and others into line with, er, real computers.

come on guys ...there's no way around it ?
On PocketIE, I think you can use button 2(or E) to page up and button 8(or C) to page down...Try it and let me know.

Oops- that's right pvenkat, 2 and 8. Except when a link in the page is labelled 2 or 8, in which case the link is activated. Truly a better solution could be asked for.

[Q] keyboard doesn't pop up automatically when pressing search button

hi,
I'm using MIUI latest version(1.9.2) and I have a problem, when I press the search button the keyboard doesn't pop up automatically, like it used to do on previous versions(before 1.8.26). if I want the keyboard to appear I press long press on menu, touch the search bar or slide left(to last application opened) and right again to the search and then it pops up by itseft..
someone is familiar with it? any solution?
thank you.
Try asking in a MIUI thread instead.
Yes, i'm running MIUI too, and i also have the same problem, but it doesn't bother me.
yeah, but posting less the 10 posts makes you a n00b(which I'm not), thus you are less of a man, thus you have no rights, thus you can't post things on development section.
but three more messages and I'll be considered as an experienced user..hooray for me.

Help: How to Copy/Paste

I've using my NG for a week now and still trying to figure out how to copy/paste.
I see the check mark come up when I highlight text but I can't figure out how to get the text to copy. I tap the check mark but doesn't seem to do anything.
Any good YouTube videos or anything that show how to do this?
It's not the check mark you want, next to the words "select all" you'll see an icon that looks like two pages, clicking that will show a dialogue at the bottom of your screen saying, "text copied to clipboard". Pressing and holding again will give you the option to paste.
Thank you , feel pretty dumb now.
Or just simply tap highlighted text again ....

Don't be. I had the same problem myself. It's a crappy system. Moreover good questions like this create a good reference for new users moving forward.
There are no such things a stupid questions or feeling dumb, just learn from your mistake or the hole in your knowledge and try to pass on what you know the next time someone else needs help.
I had exactly the same issue finally figured it out after my third attempt at copying from a browser window!
I wish there was an easier way to scroll the cursor around tho, i miss the trackball on my N1. They really should add a popup onscreen wheel onto the keyboard.
Off topic sorta, but I was just reading an article where one of the Cons of Android vs iOS is that Android doesn't have system wide Copy/Paste.
I lol'd
i'm not able to cut and paste from within tweet deck like I could on my Gingerbread. Quite frustrating
Theres a manual that covers all such essentials.
Get it by googling "samsung galaxy nexus" to go to googles official site for the phone, click register, bung in your email and they will send you a link to the manual.
The manual that should have come in the box IMHO!!

[Q] A question on multiquote and how to turn it off

Hi, I've not found anything that relates to my problem so I'm hoping I can get some clarification here.
I seem to have got stuck in Multiquote mode. I think I pressed it one day and now everything I do will add to the same post, ie. it gets multiquoted.
The way I understood it, if you press 'Multiquote' then it will ... uhm ... multiquote. If you press 'Reply' it won't.
Currently it doesn't matter if I press reply it still gets added to the same post. So the question is, is this a toggle and if so how do I turn it off and more importantly, if it's a toggle is there any indication which mode I am currently in?
Multi-quote allows you to reply to multiple people in the same post. You can quote several posts simultaneously. You reply by either clicking on "reply" or "quick reply."
Looks like you received your answer, but Moved for assistance. Thank You
I don't think clicking quick reply after multi quoting works..Though, I am not sure about it, i forgot.
However, pressing "Reply" after multi quoting works for sure

Thanks it seems to work in this thread. I'll just have to test it out in the thread I'm having problems in.

recaptcha position

Hello, I'm new there, but I have one thing I haven't got used to. It's the recaptcha position. If I start a blank thread, post or reply, the recaptcha shows the first above the edit boxes. I tick it and rewrite text to complete it. Then I start to write, what I wanted. After the input for the title is filled, there are shown some recommendations to similar threads. After filling the text of my post, I'll click on submit button (under icons if I write thread). But if I finally manage to write, what I needed (and I usually write slower, because I don't speak english very well) and click on Submit button, the recaptcha warns me, that it expired and I need to tick it and complete it again rolling up and afterwards down through the all content of the site. Couldn't it be made easier. You could e.g. reposition recaptcha task right before the submit button or so... It would be great.

This is a great point - I have moved this to right before the submit button. Thank you for the recommendation!

im having an issue sometimes with the "captcha", sometimes when i try to post something i can only see the "Im not a robot" button as captcha, and after clicking and posting the reply, the forum says "Your captcha verification has failed" ¿?¿?
Its kinda strange, cause i cant see any other captcha.
