Hello. I searched XDA beforehand, but couldn't find any definitive answer.
I love the old Facebook Messenger version 2.7.2. Primarily, just for the SMS integration. It's awesome!
I don't want to update the the latest Facebook Messenger, because it no longer support the SMS integration.
I'm trying to prevent auto updating, but to no success. It keeps on UPDATING.
I've tried (1) set Google Play NOT to update (2) In Titanium Backup, I "detached" from the Market.
Non of these seems to work.
Any suggestion would greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

In the play store under settings cut off auto update

The settings help for any new app you download. If apps were already automatic, I had to go into each app press setting button then uncheck auto update. This was a few versions back of play store, I don't know if it has been corrected.
Set your settings to not auto update then check a few apps to see if they got updated. I would be curious to know if it works now.

Hey all,
Been having an issue and wanted to know if anyone has experienced the same thing.
I recently added a second Gmail account for my school email, and the first time it automatically downloaded some apps that I guess were downloaded from the market under that account. This is fine and I expected that, however...
I deleted all of the apps it downloaded because I don't want them anymore. A little while later it proceeded to download them all AGAIN without me doing anything. I deleted them a second time and then when I got home and connected to the wifi, it again downloaded all of the same apps.
Any idea on why it is doing this?
Thanks

Thanks. So it's normal for it to "restore" my apps more than once after adding an account, and after I delete them multiple times?

Hey All..
Have few issues with not receiving notifications from:
- Gmail
- G+
- Facebook
Notifications & Sync are both turned on for each.
Also, in the Play store, I keep getting an "error processing purchase" pop up after hitting Accept & Download button.
The notifications issue has been ongoing for a few weeks between different Rom versions and the Play store issue in the last few days.
I'm running liquid rom v1.35, clean install, restoring from Titanium backup.
Any help/questions would be awesome!
Thanks.

R u using titanium backup to restore rom settings and apps? If u r, don't!! Just use it for apps not system settings .
Yeah, good point, however, I tried it both ways with no luck.. i have restored only apps at the moment.

So when I was looking at the settings for google now, there's a setting called tablet search which is a select list of your apps that google now presumably uses in order to answer your question to the best of it's ability. You can enable or disable whether or not google uses that app to give you an answer.
My question to you is do you know of any additional apps that will appear on the tablet search menu?
I haven't done much searching but I downloaded the IMDB app and it showed up on the list, and I enabled it.
Thank you,

This is a well known bug in several Samsung models. It happens when you install an app that has access to accessibility or LED controls, and who knows what else.
I have a SmartWatch app which requires Accessibility to be turned on. I also have the SwitchPro widget which can turn on the LED flash, which makes matters worse.
The ONLY way to get rid of this problem is to disable all TTS (Text to speech) services and applications. Go to Settings --> Applications manager --> scroll right to "ALL" --> Disable "Google Text-to-speech Engine" and "Samsung TTS". If you are using 3rd party TTS apps, like Ivona, you'll have to Force Stop these apps as well. Which is a really bummer because I like to listen to my books using TTS using ReadBoox.
I'm hoping Samsung will fix this in their future updates.

Really thanks for answered.

Another way to at least temporarily get rid of this is to clear the cache of the TTS Engines. The darn bug comes back, and it's a bit of a nuisance, but you may be missing features of your phone if you disable it completely (Navigation?). It's NOT a permanent fix: disabling the Engines is.

I can't get the new hangouts app installed in my galaxy s4. It says it is already installed, but when I press open, it opens the old talk app. Any thoughts?
We need the new Google play services for it to work.

If u already have google music installed on your phone just go to play market and update the app. The new hangout apk is above with all the other apks if needed!!
I had to install hangouts from my pc

The new hangout sucks!!! Big time!
I need to know the online status of my friend before I send them a message, I do not want to message ppl while they are in the middle of something.
Also, after install Hangout, Google Play Services seem to be a HUGE battery drain!!!

There is a green under their photo that tells you they are online. Also their photos are bolder than people who are offline.

No, there isn't. Not in the Android app at least. The green underline is visible only in the browser version.
To me Hangout is a HUGE step back compared from Talk.
I can't get no notifications at all...

Hey
As someone else mentioned, which is the method i used as well, use your Desktop and go to the google play store, find hangouts and it will let you install, choose your S4 from the devices list, and bam, force-update over Gtalk. You're welcome.
P.S. I suggest you install from the Play Store. Also, notifications work entirely fine for me.
Does anybody know how to delete pictures stored on the gallery from when u send a pic in hangouts it automatically saves them, kinda of annoying. Thanks

The method I used is if you're rooted just uninstall Google Talk w/ Titanium Backup, go into the Play Store and download/install Hangouts.
Just an alternative method from what's been stated.
