Understanding build numbers and changelists - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

I bought my Note 10.1 from Singapore and it has build P605XXUBMJ9. I live in Australia though, and use Telstra LTE network. My current build is listed as "XSA", or an all telco / generic build.
I noticed that there is a Telstra specific build at http://live.samsung-updates.com/inde...device=SM-P605. See Region = "TEL"
The build number for this is P605XXUBMJC
1) Which is newer / "better" – MJ9 or MJC? (assume "C"?)
2) Given that all the rest of the builds at that site are MJ9, and Telstra has the only MJC build, should I assume it is optimised for Telstra?
I guess this is really about what the specific telco builds do / have, vs the "generic" "XSA" builds.
thanks!

Firmware versions

Hi
I seem to remember a post about firmware versions,
what the current generic firmware version is and what the carrier versions are...
Can anyone help me find it ?
Thanks
Found it !!

the rom codes have a specific code layout - X.XX.YYY.Z
X.XX (in this case 1.15) is the ROM version. Higher means newer. All these roms are 1.15 so they are all the same ROM.
YYY (405, 110, 60 etc) is the Region/Network code. Higher does NOT mean newer. this number tells you Who, and Where the ROM is intended for:
405 means it is a European HTC ROM
110 means it is a T-Mobile Europe ROM
60 means it is an Orange ROM
61 is Vodafone i believe
Asian devices have codes in the 700 range
Z is the revision number, and only denotes a minor change. Each ROM will have a different revision number as each network customises differently. This is only really relevant when comparing to the same brand code. so if you have 1.15.405.4 and then 1.15.405.20 comes out, then you need to update.
so, all the ROMs are version, 1.15. They are all the same, they are just different brands.

So what should I be looking for as the generic firmware ?
1.15.405.4
Generic ROM is 1.15.405.4

[Q] Australian Telstra Band / original firmware?

I know Telstra runs on UMTS 850Mhz in Australia, but at the moment it's also running alongside 3 on UMTS 2100Mhz (the more popular band).
My questions is what is the base firmware which has been loaded onto the phone? Is it the UK 2.21??? (which has bands 900/2100 covered) or is it another one?
Reason for asking is I've flashed back to UK 2.21 (don't ask why!) and now have found that I get my network reporting as "3Telstra" (which I'm guessing is UMTS 2100Mhz) versus what it used to report ("Telstra").
So question 2 then is if I'm running on 2100Mhz due to having the UK 2.21 sbf flashed, what should I flash to get my 850Mhz band back? Or how do i get 850 back?
TIA for any help all...
System version Blur_Version.2.26.0.MB525.Telstra.en.AU
Firmware version 2.1-update1
Baseband version EPU93ST2_U_03.03.00
Kernel version 2.6.29
Build number FRDNEM_U3_2.26.0
Try the following link to the telstra page to configure your defy for mms, and internet. I have used it many times myself after trying lots of different firmwares.

You could also check this out,

download link for a nandroid backup of the default Telstra. I have used this many times and flashed it over both 2.21 and 2.34 with no problems.

Difference on same build version

Hi guys, What could be the differences in between two builds of SAME version deployed from different carrier or country (channel)?
For example:

Question Firmware limitations?

Hi,
Are there restrictions on which firmware you can use on a device? I mean could you use European (carrier or international) firmware on a device originally shipped to the US, for example. Is it just a case of missing some features or does it break the phone altogether?
it depends on the model number and Region. for example the US version model number is F926U / F926U1, F926B is the International Version, F926N is the Korean Version... you can only put firmware on from the same region(model) as yours. The following link has more info on model numbers and what region they are for. https://www.phonemore.com/models/samsung/galaxy-z-fold-3/

General EMEA build is meant for only these 6 countries in Europe

So the EMEA build is for:
France
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Spain
UK
The other 38 countries in Europe should use the "Global" build.Google should really mention that somewhere.
The EMEA build is meant for countries/carries that officially support the Pixel devices.
Here is a list of those: https://support.google.com/store/answer/2462844?hl=en

Update:
The build you get is based on the carrier that you're currently on. So if you're currently on a carrier listed for the EMEA build (carriers in supported countries in EMEA), you get the EMEA build. Otherwise, you get the global build.
The differences between builds are under the hood carrier optimizations.
You won't break anything if you sideload the wrong build, you can always swap between builds.
If you move between countries a lot, sideload the one for the carrier you use the most.
Is there any way to check what version should I use? I've sideloaded last builds and I dont know what version shoud I have.
I've checked here my 5G availability but i dont know if that means my carrier is supported although I have 5G based on that web. Currently using Vodafone in Spain and I think I should use EMEA but Im lost af.

What I undestood from first post and other sources was that EMEA builds depends of country and carrier, meaning there could be carriers in suported countries without support. Seems like I was mistaken. TY!
