Hello everyone i am in no way new to modding and rooting but i am new to the epic 4g touch i just got it today and i was wondering if someone could tell me what the best and up to date method of rooting and applying cwm is. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks again for your time.

Have you ever thought that the people that viewed werent comfortable with the correct answer to give? You did only have 1 hour and 16 minutes from the OP to this post, so perhaps a little patience.
This is the method I used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286893
I flashed this kernel through odin, it gives you root, clockwork mod, and busybox. I don't know if this is the "best" method, but it worked out pretty well for me. Hope things go well for you, and enjoy the awesome new phone
Damn dude chill out. Give it time. If u want just root without changing your kernel then flash crawrj rooted rom either odex or deodex. If u want root + clockwork mod then u need to flash a kernel but most people flashing kernels are suffering from LOS. I would recommend flashing the rooted stock rom.

[Q} Are N4 Roms flashable.

Hello,
I know i posted in the wrong section, and i apologize but i need a real answer, from someone with knowledge. I got no answers in the other forum.
I was told by someone in the AT&T forums that my phone ( E971 ) is capable of accepting N4 flashes. I was looking to see if i could convert my phone into a N4, and he said i could just flash nexus roms. Is there a trick, or something i need to do before doing this? I tried flashing a N4 Rom, but TWRP failed it because device id i believe. Wouldnt let me flash. Can someone help me out, some guidance or even just answers would make me extremely happy thank you.
OP moved here, I understand your need but also you understood that you posted in the Wrong section, Please read the Forum Rules on posting. Thank You.

Sorry bud was just hoping for a quick answer before it got moved. No luck. Apologize again.
If only they were...*sigh*
Do not ever flash nexus4 Roms or kernels. Most n4 kernel flash by partition number and not by name. You'll get a hard brick.

So is it possible for me to convert my phone to a N4 than? as they do with the AT&T phones?
Yes if only someone will make it as .zip then flash it via cwm

yes you can,but it's not recommended.what model.do you have?if you have the e975,your camera will be broken, the n4 has 8mpx camera and you will lose half of your storage.and the most important thing, you can hardbrick your phone.conclusion, don't convert to nexus.or do it,but don't ask here.no one wants to be responsable for messing up your phone.

Ignorant answer !
thnx mate
It's not ignorant,it's the best answer you can get.why don't you ask how your next girlfriend will be?).it's the same thing.it takes 5 minutes to make a nandroid backup of your current rom and another 5 to flash avatar.

mate it is dont protect him.. instead of saying nice post throwing disgraceful sentence : do it by yourself.. next time when u ll be asking something ill tell you do it by yourself..
That is stupid for example mixing some next girlfriend?!!??
Mate bad
You do realise you are asking for someone's SUBJECTIVE opinion, right?i may find the rom great, the best, perfect etc,but if you try it and you won't like it,you will blame me for telling you crap.
So again, the best way to find out is to try yourself.you are the only one to judge here.another question you don't ask is "how is the battery life?".why?
Simple,no one will ever use the phone like you do and all phone behave differently.that's for start.....

questions about best roms, battery life etc. are not allowed at XDA.
thats the reason why i say: try yourself!

what would u prefer Cyanogenmod or Avatar
My friend, like i said, it doesn't matter what we like.It matters what YOU like.We can tell you million of things, what is the most important is what suites you.
Personally, i never tried avatar, i don't MIUI.But i tried all other roms(thinking bridge, chad's cm, official cm etc).
They all have good and bad things, depending from what side you look.I chosed to stay on official CM for now, but i'm testing other roms when they update.
Please read the rom's thread you want to use, see opinions and decide yourself what you wanna try.So, please stop with this kind of questions. It will only bring flame and we don't want that.

So how come u complained in that thread?
So does it work on F180L converted to E975?
the method to unlock a LGOG is the same.
"conversion" is only the use of an E975 KDZ

KitKat Rom for a newbie

Ive got an LG Gpad 8.3 V500 , to date ive not done anything with it. I posted last night about scrolling in landscape that it was lagging on one side.
I was advised to use a custom Rom
Ive never done this , can anyone suggest instructions ( in laymens terms ) on how to do this and also the most stable KitKat rom to use as i like the Nexus devices.
Thanks

hiya Eden
Is there any reason why? is there a major difference with the Roms? as i said i want as close to 4.4.2 Stock as possible
There's no big difference, it's a matter of personal taste.
Cyanogenmod is the most popular rom available, its a company now, if youd like to know

It may not show, but im quite the newbie myself. I just read a lot so I know stuff.

Recommendation, before you go flashing a custom ROM, make sure you FIRST make a Nandroid backup. You can do this after you install TWRP or Clockworkmod. The Nandroid backup will allow you to easily restore to stock in the event you run into issues or don't like the ROM you flashed. Another recommendation, take 2 backups. I am just overly cautious with this stuff and like to ensure I have a means to back out. There is a documented recovery step using the LG tool but the backup would be easier.

Why not try flashing the Debloat tool after doing a backup of your current setup. That way if you don't like the result you can restore it. Or, a novel idea, post this question in the thread you found the list in...

No matter how the question is worded, these still careen to best-rom threads.
The best rom for your particular description is the one you ultimately find and use. Search the development forums, read the OP of each, and I am certain you will find the one that fits your needs. Thread closed.
