[Q] Odin stuck at NAND write start - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I will keep this brief but thorough:
I've had the phone for 2 years and I've been a flashaholic ever since. I have flashed several ROMs on the phone and I have recovered some goof ups. I recently upgraded to the N5 and passed my E4GT to my wife until I get her a new phone and we jump ship from Sprint. I flashed a stock rooted ICS ROM and past it off to her as if it were a brand new phone, she set it up and went about her week. Yesterday her sister borrows the phone to browse a website (nothing malicious, black friday deals etc). The phone craps out on her and now wont boost past the Galaxy S2 Splash screen. I can't boot into recovery it just hangs on the splash screen no matter how long I hold vol up + pwr. I CAN boot into download mode. I went about the standard method of flashing EL26 recovery to try and factory reset or flash a diff ROM. Odin 1.85 freezes at NAND Write Start. Odin 1.3 doesn't read that the phone is plugged in. The Odin one clicks don't register that the phone is connected either. I tried to reflash the ICS Stock Rooted ROM and it hangs at sbl.bin and eventually fails. The cable and USB ports are not defective, I've switched them up. Are there any means of saving the E4GT?

Do you have the Samsung drivers installed on your computer? Odin won't work without them.

Well...Yes. Like I said I've been flashing things on this phone for 2 years. Although a new issue seems to be that the computer won't recognize it at all now. I tried to reinstall the drivers and it still comes up as unrecognized. No version of Odin recognizes the phone now. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Sorry, I've never had any problems with Odin.

I don't think Odin is the issue. I'm wondering if the internal memory of the phone died. It won't boot to recovery and if it is plugged in to charge it only shows an empty battery with the charging circle in the middle. It never changes to the battery charging with a green filler despite the battery having a charge.

Need help. this one has me stumped!!

Ok, so my friend has a galaxy nexus and its was working fine for him and then one day its was fuxzored. He told me the last thing he did was installed a cracked version of gta. the game worked so i dont think its a virus but thats the only thing fishy i know of that he did with his phone.
so, the state the phone is in is it goes into a boot loop when trying to start the thing, the google logo comes up and then there is a glitch in the screen for a second then back to google logo and then a restart.
i am able to get into the bootloader but when i try to go into recovery the android is lying on his back with a red exclamation point over him(most of the time i cant even get to that point. sometimes the screen goes black or glitches and it reboots.), so i press all three buttons and i have the option to wipe data or flash from cache, but there is nothing in the cache.
so i thought i might be able to use fastboot with the gnex toolkit to flash his recover to cwm. well the bootloader is unlocked but recovery is still messed up. nothing seems to work.
im out of ideas. please help!

This won't help if he can't get into recovery mode.

The droid with the exclamation mark is the stock recovery. If you push volume up + power you get the recovery menu. Maybe a factory reset there will bring a solution? (Only thing I can think off right now).
How about Odin?
Can you get into download mode?

Yeah Odin would fix it.
Try this - http://goo.gl/sXXGN
'fastboot erase recovery'
'fastboot flash recovery cwm.img'
Try that
What bk201doesntexist said. As long as you can get into the bootloader, you are good to go.

Oh dear..we have a brick.

So my S3 is stuck in a loop where it wont get past the samsung logo. I can still access safe mode and dl mode fine. Odin still sees my phone and I've been trying to flash it back to stock with no luck. Odin keep getting stuck at 2/5 of the progress bar on <ID:0/004> system.img.ext4. I've also tried my sd card but it can't seem to mount it.
So what are my options ? Can someone please help me out.
EDIT: I can mount my SD card now, put two zips on it tried one so far but it still seems to be unable to boot off of it. I'll wait a few minutes to see what happens.
Change wire. Same thing happen to me before. I change my wire for odin and it worked.
Are you 100% sure thats the problem ? It could make sense since I don't have the factory stock one anymore. But its a good quality cable.
Yep. Some wires do not have data or charging capabilities. Best to use stock cable or even go to a TMo store and get one of their Universal Cables (I've heard good things about those tbh).
Also try plugging into a USB port closest to the motherboard. Ones that are further away from the power source sometimes don't work as well.
One last thing, the system.img generally takes a fair amount of time to run. I've had the whole stock Odin flash take up to 10 minutes before. So you might think that it is getting stuck but it may still be writing to the partitions.
I still haven't been able to fix it because I haven't gotten a hold of a stock cable yet but I was wondering. If I could transfer music, flash a rom, etc. Doesnt that mean my cable is fine ? I just have a hard time believing it would be the cable.
My phone is still able to boot up with CWM or stock safe mode and I can still access dl mode. I might have to go exchange my phone but I'll have to get lucky for the person not to check the flash count. Not only that but I really don't feel like buying another one.
If someone can link me to the stock rom for the 999v(videotron) it'd help out quite a lot. SO far I've tried two stock ones and it always hangs whenn odin reaches <ID:0/004> system.img.ext4...
You're probably just flashing the wrong firmware in Odin. Here is a link for the Videotron firmware. After you download, extract the .zip and put the .tar file in the PDA field in Odin.
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/184265810/b6b383c/T999VVLDLL1_T999VYVLDLL1_VTR.zip.html
Alright I just started DL it. I'm pretty sure I already tried a file named exactly like this though. It's going to take 50 minutes to download but once it's done and I've tried it with odin I'll post the results. Just to be 100% sure, I just check the F. reset time and auto reboot boxes right ?
Edit: I'm installing it right now, it seems to get stuck at the same place as usual.

Remember, as the author says don't use the provided link files if your phone is not a Verizon galaxy s3. Find your phone model's needed files.

THANK YOU! I think this should do the trick. I will come back to you guys with the results!
edit: When I try to flash it, it says :secure check fail: aboot If it isn't the right version, than where can I get the files for mine. It's pretty hard to find the right files for me.
So does anyone know why it would hang like this ?
How long have you waited?
Check the box : Nand erase all. Might help to clean install that tar file.
after you have installed the stock rom and also make sure you root it then just wipe factory reset and also cache it should be fine.

[Q] My phone is bricked, no charging battery sign, please help !

I was going to restore via clockmodworld recovery mode. Before that I had format data, clear cache, factory reset. Then it showed that the MD5 of the backup I wanted to restore is mismatched. I had no choice so I chose reset.
Then now my phone is all in black screen, I can't enter download mode or recovery mode, can't boot, no charging battery sign when plug in. Is my phone hard bricked ? Anyway to fix it ?
Thanks

Your phone might have succumbed to SDS. In that case the only way is to approach the Service and get the Mother Board replaced.Sorry to say this. But I was also a victim for this unhappy situation.
I took it to warranty service and got mainboard replaced.

p/s : before my phone died I did update stock rom 4.1.2 and latest kernel perseus. Any idea ?

[Q] Did something very bad! OPPO FIND 7

I was going about flashing my Oppo Find 7 not 7A, succesfully rooted, flashed TWRP, booted into Cyanogenmod 11 successfully. I then went on and attempted to flash cyanogenmod 11s(one plus one system dump) on my Find 7, rebooted, One plus one was split into two on each side of screen, when attempting to go into recovery it was not there anymore and screen was just black. I tried putting back original recovery no luck and tried reflashing with TWRP but still no luck and phone does not boot into anything when turning on. Any help would be deeply appreciated since I can no longer use my new phone.
When completely off, hold power and up, that should put it in fastboot. Can you confirm whether this works or not?
Sent from my Find7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hey Chewbyte thanks for the response, I have managed to get CWM recovery on it but since I tried flashing CM 11s which wasnt made for the Find7, upon boot the screen is split and it says one plus and nothing occurs. I even tried reflashing cyano 11 but still nothing happens when i try to reboot. My fastboot is also the cyano little guys face. I am not sure what to try next

Even if the graphics are messed up in fastboot, it still could work fine.
Download the AndroidSDKSlimCustom here https://www.dropbox.com/s/41p7peig4wt5kav/AndroidSDKSlimCustom.zip
Navigate into platform-tools, hold shift anywhere in that directory and right click while holding shift. Click 'Open command window here'
Turn off your phone completely, take the battery out to be sure, and hold power and volume up until you see something appear on the screen.
Connect the phone via usb, go back to the command window that opened and type
Code:
fastboot devices
If you're lucky you'll get something like this:
{

This means you can then flash TWRP, get into that recovery, wipe everything and ADB sideload a fresh CM nightly (actually made for the find 7!) which you can find here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=find7
Let me know how you get on.
I had done that before but still same result, even in recovery the screen looks like it was shifted.
GOT EM! SOLVED!
For anyone else who has this problem use this!
I cant post links cause i am a noob
but in oppo forums look for these
threads/find-7-x9076-bricked-need-help.18112/
/threads/brick-my-oppo-find-7-x9076-doesnt-load-any-recovery.17906/
com/threads/stock-recovery-for-find-7-7a.17397/
and when in stock recovery i flashed X9006&X9076ColorOS_V1.2.1i_full.zip
and BOOM it worked!
Once again thank you Chewbyte for taking the time to answer and try to help me I appreciate it!!
No problem friend, I'm glad you managed to fix it.

okay, thanks, I will explain what I can see on my note 2 and what I have done so far
when you press the power button, I see the Samsung logo trying to boot but it's never boots up. Sometimes when I press the power button I see the empty battery sign as if the battery is trying to charge but it is not empty.
I bought a new battery just in case it was the battery fault- no such luck.- I can put my phone on download mode. I had a weird feeling the day my note 2 decided to have a coma, I saved all my photo and did a back up on kies 3
So far I have downloaded odion 3.09 and 3.10, I down loaded 6 different rom for my note 2 GT-N7100 and tried them all, odin says Failed, failed failed failed failed!! I need serious help

It just says "fails " on odin. I have tried 6 different roms so far.
In Odin, at the bottom left there is a panel that shows the log of what is going on. The FAIL appears in the top left
What does the log show when you flash?
