Issues flashing ROMs - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Hi, I'm having some issues flashing ROMS on my T-MO Note 3
I have tried two different roms;
Wicked: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486900
and Jedi Elite: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2493795
Whenever I try flashing wicked, it never gets past the "samsung galaxy note 3" screen
and whenever I try flashing Jedi it goes to the samsung galaxy note 3 screen, and then goes blank and goes back to that screen and boots back into recovery
I've tried a few different versions of TWRP. 2631, 2632 and 2638. Every time I've done a full wipe.
I have no idea what could be causing it at this point. I always make sure the md5 is correct.
I've noticed one error showing up in TWRP, "E: cannot mount /usbstorage" I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Also, the whole process goes really fast, it doesn't seem like long enough to install the entire roms, but I don't know.
Any help would be appreciated!

Before you boot up, install a different kernel. My phone is very picky, I can only boot with compulsion, stock, and the jedi yellow. My phone does not like any tweaked kernels AT ALL! Sucks, but my battery life is awesome.

I just tried that again and it's still doing the same thing :/

Same here
Hi can't install anything.
I got TWRP by TWRP app.
I tried installing Jedi and 2 others.
TWRP and Clockworkmod both fail.
TWRP says Unable to mount usb and aborts.
Clockworkmod says fail!!
Can't even install Kernels (Same error)
Will try different kernels (If available for Odin) and try again..

will jedi elite work on my n9005?
Will the rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2493795 work on my n9005?
I guess i just dont know what the tmobile version of the note 3 is.

I had a similar issue I odined back to stock formated the phones internal storage then did the root and recovery process again and worked. Hope this helps

[Q] Soft bricked my phone

So this is kind of a unique issue i'm having. I have the I-747 on AT&T and flashed AOKP rom (it was taking too long to get JB). It worked for about 3 days and then got stuck in the android boot screen (used the rom feature to get rid of the pink unicorns). after that, I booted into recovery and reset my phone, and it worked again for a few more days, then it wouldnt boot again (I dont believe I changed any settings between the boots). After this time, it wouldnt let me boot into recovery and would only boot to the android start screen and stop. I used odin to flash the stock rom, which only took me to the 2nd samsung boot screen and stopped (after the AT&T splash shows up). I looked online and saw someone say try CF-root using odin, tried that and it didnt help. Then tried using a custom kernel siyah s3, and now it will only show the initial samsung splash screen before turning off again. Any suggestions here? I figured I'd stop researching since i dont want to really mess up my phone worse than it already is

Your main issue now is that you flashed siyah. We don't have one. If you can get to download mode, you will want to flash back to stock.

Thanks guys! So I used odin to flash the stock boot loader and stock rom, but it is still hanging up on the 2nd samsung screen like it initially did (the one after the AT&T boot animation). Any other ideas on what could be the cause?
How long is the hang? Sure is just not the 1st initial boot of the new rom?

The first boot can take as long as 5 minutes sometimes. So, if you haven't waited that long, then try out some patience. Otherwise, try booting into recovery (stock now) and factory reset.

bump!
I have this same issue. I have restored to stock rom and it does the Samsung boot, then AT&T, then it goes to Samsung pulsating with a blue pulsating LED.
I have left it in that mode for at least 15 minutes and it never boots.
I can still get into download mode.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Has anyone tried booting into recovery after flashing the stock ROM and wiping caches then rebooting?

I let it run for 2 hours (left the house came back and i was still on. And phone wont boot into recovery at all ( i tried many times, but it just boots normally and skips recovery until it gets to the 2nd samsung screen, then stops there).
I dont know if this is relevant, but while the phone is off and plugged in, i can still see the battery meter and the Green LED (so i'm guessing it's still working, it just wont boot)

jbizz, did you start getting this error after flashing AOKP rom also? trying to figure out what could have caused the issue in the first place
I'm not really skilled on these things, but I once had a similar issue with my phone not booting and had to end up using Kies to emergency restore it. Odin wouldn't recognize my phone but kies would.
Although I think my issue with odin may be stemming from my computers usb ports...

I actually flashed a bad kernel and the phone wouldn't boot after that.
What is the proper way to boot into Stock Recovery?

Fixed it! What I did was go into Kies software and did a firmware upgrade instead of trying to flash from odin, then put it in download mode instead of recovery, but it still worked. Thanks for all the help, guys! guess it's time to move to a CM based rom?

Sure, I'm doing this largely from memory since I mostly figured it out by throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
Open Kies->tools->firmware upgrade and initialization->enter model name then serial number (they're behind the battery) -> put the phone in download mode and plug it in. it should take care of the rest.
Fair warning, this will fully wipe your phone, i lost all my pics (thank you google+'s instant upload or i'd be PISSED) and titanium backup (there goes my 3 stars on every level in angry birds and great scores in temple run), but at least you get a phone that can function as more than a paper weight, right?

[Q] CWM Recovery on i317M

Hi,
I'm having issues installing CWM Recovery on my Rooted GN2. It's the Canadian variant, SGH-I317M.
It does go through the process of flashing the recovery, but never gets to saying PASS in ODIN. When I try to get into the Recovery, it still has the stock Samsung Recovery. It does, however trip the flash counter.
I'm followiing the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1988785
This is what I get after flashing in ODIN.
Maybe a bad download? Have you checked to see if it installed? I dont usually recommend this but koush's Rom Manager supports our device now, you can use the app to flash it if your already rooted:thumbup:

I'm also having problems after the OTA update. Before OTA update, I was able to flash CWM without problems. Following exact same procedure as before when it was working. Only variable that changed is the OTA update.

I was able to install CWM by following this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36201055&postcount=54
But I'm starting to think that it may have been my fault the whole time...
While doing the 3 button combo to try to boot into Recovery, I was using Vol-DOWN, instead of Vol-UP. So I was going into download mode. I'm going to try flashing the CWM through ODIN again and see if I was just an idiot the whole time.
***EDIT***

I thought of cleanROM but it is pretty stock. I feel if im going to flash any rom i might as well go with something modded and tweaked rather then stock, while keeping most of the note 2 and s-pen features. If i start finding them being a little buggy or draining my battery or anything, ill settle with cleanROM and just flash some custom mods.
i flashed my CWM through MobileODIN. worked like a charm. then i ran into issues with backing up to extSD, which ended up working after i formatted it but i took way longer then onto internal SD.
i know its off topic for this thread..Any suggestions or thoughts on the JEDI X9 and SKYNOTE roms will be great guys. Im all backed up and ready to flash pretty quick here.
I guess you have custom ROM. You must root and rename recovery restore files before you boot to android or stock recovery will be restored.

Help I think my Note 2 is on it's last leg

so I don't know how it happened
but over the past couple weeks I've had a lot of trouble with my phone
I didn't notice any issues until I flashed Skynote
it started out as just my computer not recognizing it when connected via USB
but problems have escalated further now
for some reason if I try flashing touchwiz roms 1/2 the time TWRP crashes while doing it and if it doesn't it constantly hangs up during flashing(it took me almost 1/2 hour to flash ultimate internation rom last night)
If I get a rom running the phone is constantly hanging when going through the settings menu.. or if an app is installing it will lock up totally for like 5 seconds
I've formatted thru twrp, I wipe the system every time. I've tried countless factory resets
nothing seems to be helping
anyone have any idea what might be going on?
Probably something corrupt or misplaced. Flash stock to using odin. That should fix it

I have faced similar issues twice after changing a rom. The only way back to stability was to odin a stock firmware on to the note II and then to re-root, re-install a custom recovery and reflash the rom.
You can use this thread to get the files to odin back to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2275844
Give it a try. . . it helped me!
thanks for the help guys
seems to be running well on stock......I'm gonna put it through it's paces for a while before I get my hopes totally up though
I think I'm just gonna keep it like this until we get some 4.2.2 touchwiz roms
hopefully with 4.2.2 coming out in the coming days the wait wont be too long

Try CWM recovery, not twrp....I never use twrp, , always hearing issues with people using that recovery method...Some phone's just don't like it..lol
And like Greg stated...most phones need a thorough cleaning every now and then to get the bugs out.
With TWRP its always good to have the latest version... it can really make a difference

I prefer using CWM to flash ROMs on my device. I Always had problems flashing zips on my phone using TWRP recovery. It gave me a headache that I had to use the emergency firmware recovery in kies to revert to stock and reset my flash count. Do try flashing in CWM recovery instead and see what's the result.

And as for the patch I was thinking of trying it but im afraid of bricking my phone. You can flash that rom as long as the rom doesnt install two files( which are carrier related). I just cant remember what files. Just read in that thread and look for those files. when u download the rom use root explorer and check that the rom doesnt have them in there.
Let me know how it goes ?

So to confirm, you tried the patch at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086394 and you got stuck on the flashing Samsung logo? Me being the noob that I am, I (stupidly) decided to simply go ahead and flash the N7100 version on my L900 following the instructions for the N7100 (original) varient. It of course bricked me, never got anything beyond the flashing Samsung logo, just does that forever until I pulled the battery.
However, by attempting to flash it I seem to have created other problems and here's where I'm stumped. I am now unable to restore my TWRP Nandroid I made of my stock rooted MK4 before flashing, restoring that results in getting stuck at the flashing Samsung logo (again). It doesn't matter what options I restore in TWRP (System, Boot, Data, etc) it has the same result: the flashing Samsung logo forever and ever and ever. I read somewhere that 4.4 (the DN3 ROM) messes with partitions because it enables multi user support...could that have anything to do with it? The only way I have been able to get my device back working is flashing stock unrooted MD4 TAR through Odin. I'd really rather not start from scratch though on my settings and everything though, and the only backup I have is that Nandroid, no Titaniums or anything else. Can you help me restore the Nandroid or is it a lost cause?

Well I haven't installed Philz recovery yet, but considering my Nandroid was made with TWRP will Philz even see it? The only reason I ask is because IIRC Philz is based off of TWRP, no? What I'm getting at here is that I'm pretty sure Nandroids from different recoveries, for example CWM and TWRP are completely incompatible right?
If I can't restore the backup I made from TWRP in Philz am I dead in the water? If so, I guess I learned my lesson, that is to have a contingency plan such as Titaniums in place (particularly for settings). I guess I really didn't expect a Nandroid to just fail spectacularly...if TWRP really is completely borked up with backup/restore on 4.3 it would be nice if they had a warning somewhere in the recovery or on their site. I would think that would be kind of important to know before you try to use a backup made using their recovery...

Okay lets cover the backup types first. Philz will backup/restore in both twrp and cwm format but you have to select the option. Now about your backup it will still be no good since it was created with twrp.

now that we have 4.4.2 there shouldn't be a reason we cant get this rom ported

Recovery issues.Cwm and philz work. Twrp bootloops

Just was wondering if anyone has run into this issue. I have tried flashing zips Odin and apps to install recoveries. Any version of TWRP I install will just put the phone in bootloop til I Odin a diff recovery. I have tried googling around and only thing I could get is maybe my motherboard going out. I know when I was on Whomp 4.1.2 I had always used twrp before 4.3 came out. I still have no Knox boot loader and never have had Knox on phone either. Could this just be a sign that I have corrupt memory sectors ? Any help or tips appreciated. Just trying to get phone to last til note 4. Other things I've done is even unmod back to old firmware and let it ota all the way to mc2 so I don't get a knox boatloader. Thanks again

If you want twrp you need one of the versions before 2.7. Thing is twrp does not handle selinux context so it wont work on tw 4.3-4.4.3 and aosp 4.4.+.
I would suggest philz 6.07.9 it handles everything perfectly. So give it a shot and still have problems let me know.

I've read doesn't work on new versions but I 1st had the issue start months ago on 4.1.2 whomp I rebooted to recovery one day after on same ROM over 2 months not a issue and boot loops started then and haven't been able to use twrp since. Last night I finally wanted to try a 4.4 ROM and thats why I just now was posting about it. I'm on philz currently. I'll just stick with what works. Thanks again!
