Likely a bad BGA component - Phone will not power on

Okay so problem is the phone WILL NOT even power on. It's not boot looping. I'm almost certain I did not brick the phone. The phone just will not power on at all. A new battery didn't do anything. Plugging the phone in via usb without a battery didn't do anything. From what I found researching the interwebz, it is likely a bad BGA component. Verizon is overnighting me a replacement and of course I will need to send this phone back in the paid provided envelope.
My concern: the phone is rooted/unlocked and I can't unroot and lock if I can't power up.
My question for you phone geniuses: Is there a trick I can do to unroot and lock or get it to power on? I am very concerned sending this phone in that I will be forced into paying retail for the replacement phone they are sending me.
If not, what are my best options? Thanks in advance!

Can u access recovery???
Leave that sucker without the battery in it for about an hour and unplugged then try it over again. It most likely will come back on

I tried this about 20 times and no dice :/. From what I could see the OS is stored on the internal memory chip which does detach from the main board (what likely needs replacing). It could go one of two ways:
1) They replace the entire motherboard including the internal storage (please please yes) or...
2) They pop off the internal memory chip and put it on the new motherboard.
Either way, I don't have any options. Nothing works. You never think this will happen to you . As a side note: I suspect there might be something off about the battery and Verizon thinks so too so they are sending me a replacement battery and I will first try that new battery in the phone that needs to be returned. Hopefully I can cover my tracks.

Do you mean your usb issues? I'm going to need some clarification of what's going on, maybe a link to your other thread if you posted one that explained your issue.
But, no, I don't see how batteries can cause a usb issue. They're just for power and for NFC.

Well, I don't know if they just do that, see when I had my last nexus, and used this battery, I had random reboots, and the screen had issues. But after 2 days of use, the phone would not turn on with that battery, it would just stay off, but I could charge it. With this one, there are the weird charging and usb issues, like when I unplug the phone it still thinks it's charging, even when I turned it off it went to the charging screen. Also I'm not sure if the screen is just bad, or there is a weird burn in, but the whites look a little brownish. Also the battery life is down right horrible. The phone will charge with any cable, but only 1 of mine got the computer to recognise it but when I tried to look at the device, it would crash my computer. This is extremely weird, and I hope I didn't just waist $70 on a brick. I just want to root it, and flash some roms, once I do that I will make it my primary device. I don't know if I should buy a new battery, or not, I don't want to waist any more money.

I'm sorry for all that stuff. Looks like your Nexi (wat), as in your last one, AND current one, are having deeper hardware issues.
I've seen things like this before, mainly on Droid RAZR's. Random reboots, screen issues, and the only fix was replacing the motherboard.

[Q] HTC One X battery?

The battery of my HTC One X doesn't want to take charge, and the phone turns off the moment it's unplugged. It seems to think the battery is 66% charged, but this obviously isn't the case, as it doesn't drop or rise... It can be hard to get the phone to turn on, even when plugged in.
I'm guessing the battery is gone and needs to be replaced. Trouble is, where to get the replacement battery. All the 'Genuine' batteries on eBay are clearly fake, where can a trusted supplier be found? I'm thinking that if I'm to take it apart, I might as well install the upgraded X+ battery? I don't want to spend a fortune on the replacement, as the device is two years old now, and not worth a great deal.
I think you will find several stores in England selling HTC original battery

[Q] M8 Motherboard swap

Hi, my phone has some serious issues, inlcuding not charging and battery draining fast. I have not been able to backup files since this started to happen, as the phone would normally just turn off saying the battery was dead. I tried replacing the battery and the usb charge port, to not much success. The power button has been broken since a drop about 4 months ago.
I'm looking at putting my good motherboard into a phone that is still completely functional.
My question is, if I put the motherboard of my phone[dead battery] into another htc one m8 [siblings old m8], would all my pictures, documents, and files be there on the new phone? As far as I know the motherboard is the entire phone, right?
Thanks for your help.
As long as you don't damage the board when you are transferring it between phones. Or you don't damage the working phone while transferring the board then you should be able to get your data back. Thing is you claim that you have a dead battery which would mean that you would have to take the battery from your siblings phone and use it with your phone to make sure it will boot. Check on how to replace the battery.

Did you try the old and new battery in another phone to make sure that both batteries are okay? What ROM is on the phone?
If you are sure the batteries are okay, there could be something wrong with the phone's mainboard.

no i didnt try the batteries in another phone and i am on stock rom but this happens on any rom that i install.
It's is possible that the board in your phone is malfunctioning. Unfortunately, I think trying the batteries in another phone or having them tested may be the only way to know for sure.
if the problem were to be my mainboard , how much would it cost me to replace it ?
I am not sure where you are located but you could look for a used s3 that has a busted screen. I purchased a couple with busted screens for 30 each.
