[Q] canadian/bell custom rom

Hi everyone. I've done extensive searches, but I can't seem to find very many ROMs for the bell variant. I'm using sonic ROM, but I would like to start using a more common one that updates more often than not, and I don't feel like using cm. I would like to keep it as stock as possible, as I like the Samsung integrations. If anyone can suggest one or two, that would be great. I tried a couple, but when I tried to restore with tb pro, a lot of apps froze during the process, app only and w/data

I'm with Bell also. Dandroid and CSROM both worked great with my phone. Very stable. Wasn't that great on battery but I probably could have tried a little tweaking and they would have been fine.

I tried dandroid, but that's where I had problems when I tried to restore. I was almost thinking of his variant 'blandroid' but I don't want to try and then run into the same restore issues. I think I'm going to try the new wicked ROM. It looks very promising

I'm a noob but in my experience what recovery system you use to flash a ROM will make all the difference. I normally use Twrp but for some reason can't install Cyanogen mod without CWM.
I used twrp for dandroid without any issues.

I always though any ROM for AT&T would work on the Canadian variants as all you'd need to do is update the APN settings.
Now I'm not so sure.
I'd like to try Task650 but I'm sure I read somewhere that it's AT&T only.

Generally, yes at&t roms do work on the Canadian networks, most of the time without adding the apns. I was just wondering if there's any Canadian devs out there or someone who's done work specifically for the Canadian networks/variant.
I just flashed wicked Rome v7, and it seems to work well sofar

Att roms will work just fine. I'm running tasks room with no problems. If you are dead set on a Canadian rom search for Seaarms (spelling?)

Did you have to do anything with APN settings or anything? Everything worked on first reboot?

I'm on Telus running tasks AOKP and they have a telus APN setting. No changes were made.
I've flashed almost all the ROMs and with the odd exception for the newer ones (paranoid android beta and xylon) all the apns for Canada are already there.

It's marked as at&t only now because task is in the states. He can't fix any issues we might have being on Canadian carriers so it's "at&t only". Trust me it works fine.

I'm not dead set on a canadian rom, I've flashed wicked and seems decent sofar. I was really just curious as to if there were more than a handful out there

Just flash and go. Brilliant rom

Wicked v7 is installed with aroma which is pretty snappy I must say. I've come across aroma before, and I like being able to have different options to choose from

As you said, generally speaking, AT&T ROMs will work no problem on Canadian variants.
However, you can find some ROMs that are based on Canadian stock ROMs (Rogers, Bell, Telus...). Try searching for VLDLK4-based ROMs (instead of VLDLK3, which is AT&T). Examples of them are Bertiespeed, i747z, I747MVLDLK4_DJJOHNNYBLAZE_MODV1, seeARMS, NexusMod K4, Bacon-JB...

can i flash E975 roms on L01e?

Hi i know its noob to ask, but can i flash the rom file for the E975 or even the korean variant on the L01e? its damn sad that no one seem to develop a rom for the L01e.. even the official JB is not out.. so can i flash it?

no one has this model. try it yourself.

Which carrier are you on? I can check out the kernel configs to let you know if they are compatible. From what I remember, your display driver is different from ours so it may not be compatible. I'm pretty sure that was Docomo that that was the issue on.

i got this phone from Japan Seller, its an unlocked Docomo NTT version of L01E.
if u need any more info like the details do ask i'd be more than happy to provide
cos i saw the Korean F180KL version has 13mp cam its the same as the JP version. i'm on the IMM76L build and software version L01E10a. i saw some uploaded the c version but still its under ICS... hence i didnt bothered flashing it..
since other variants has been released with 4.2 hence i wondered if it might work .
anyway to config those kernels with the display?
*sidenote, from wad i know from my seller, its perma unclocked from Docomo so even if i flash it , i wont lose the unlock, but sadly i am also removed from their OTA updates.. so yea..

I believe L01 and F180 share the optimus g name only.

yea i know they may just be the same name, as per Xboxfan mentioned, is it possible to ammend some settings and it will work? since the TV function doesnt work outa Japan ,it doesnt matter even if i lose that function. Current i'm rotted with the help of jcase's thread, i didnt install the CWM tho, i would love to try and flash it out but seemingly that the unbrick option is also not catered to L01E, i dare not do so yet..
try as i might, i'm looking up to cook a rom specifically for this phone using the base of the sources but i'm really really REALLY new to this and frankly speaking, reading those threads up on this cooking has made me gone nowhere.. so my hope now is that what Xboxfan said is true and i might be able to get JB on this heck of a phone

When I get a chance, I will make you a kernel. Add me on gtalk and remind me from time to time if I don't have anything within a week or two. It shouldn't be hard. Your drivers aren't way different, but they are different enough to where Roms for other devices wouldn't work.

So g pro finally will get update

AT&T model is e980 though. IDK either way I'm not holding my breath... might pass out before anything happens. I do hope we get a update though. The value pack update was cool but lame at the same time. I think we would have rather had the 4.2.2 update with value pack included or even better 4.3!

True but I would hate to go back to stock to take 4.2 but would. Is it better to be able to root the real Rom or have a modified Rom that can be changed? I like both options especially having the real one to fall back on.

That's nice so now we are going to wait for it, i haven't seen the 3 slide from g2 in the picture leaks...Maybe it's still a beta we are going to find out soon.

Talk about LG's 4.2.2 changes it, now I know the following:
1, seemingly smooth some personal feeling
2, the boot animation is a "leading 3G life" (which is customized mobile Well, inevitable)
3, the lock screen can slide around the page, you can also add widgets (Google 4.2 features)
4, dialers landscaping, pretty
5, QSlide support dialers, that is dialing can be reduced
6, built a lot of customized mobile software (currently can unload without ROOT)
7, Q removed the air conditioning remote support, and support for many domestic brands
8, according to three virtual machine when there is no vibration of the (do not know the underlying been destroyed, nor can the underlying 4.1 4.2 system inside)
9, adding an interactive screen saver function, we can look at the last screenshot
10, to display the "Developer Options", then, you need version 2.5 on, this is also a feature of Google 4.2
11, the addition of a "Wireless store" function, and 4.1 wireless sharing similar.
12, press the volume appears after a Settings button, you can set various volume, three seconds without operation automatically disappear

Is there a download for this? Maybe we could port this.

It says 'Theoretically, it suits for E985/E986/E988'.
It is a test version and customized by China Mobile.

Either way since we can flash international roms now it shouldn't be a big deal (at least I hope).

Well depends On my E980 When flashing say the E988,E986. I only get 12GB of internal storage instead of 23GB, and it erases your EFS partion and you have to load the baseband and restore EFS. And if you loose your EFS your screwed.

Any news on the possible OTA yet?

Help no in call audio with any 4.3 rom

I have tried numerous times with numerous roms same problem....no in call audio

I've had the same problem. I think I saw a thread that had a link to an app that would help or fix the problem but I can't find it anywhere. Every Rom I've tried had the same problem, no call audio. They can't hear me and I can't hear them. I gave up looking after a few hrs of searching

What are the variables involved? It doesn't seem to impact everyone, so there's got to be something going on here, since it has happed to more than one person. Can anyone with the problem share their steps to produce it in detail?

I remembered reading that some of the AT&T E980 has a different audio chip than regular E980.I've tried the Alsamixer but it open as a blank screen with no option to change the audio.

Same for me opens with black screen

How can we tell which audio chip it has? Is it only some of the AT&T E980s or all of them?
That sucks because I've just purchased this specifically for CM/AOSP use!

E980 no sound bug.
Please reply if some one is looking into this, as it looks it has been washed under the rug. no one is even talking about it.

Fix
The only thing that make the call bug goes away is plug in your headphone before answering or making a phone call. It's too much of a hassle so I went back to the Unofficial CM 10.1 ROM. I've been using it for a few weeks and it's been very stable.

I also had the same problem when I used the BeanStalk Harmony 4.3 ROM...Only solution from me was to use the speaker..never tried the headphones method though.

Was it the only ROM AOSP ROM you tried? Again, what are your specs here? I'm asking folks to submit their details to try to clear up what it might actually be, if it's fixable, and instead, a few are just responding with general answers.

I bought it from ebay so I don't know the date it was bought. I flash from the stock April ROM and using the same baseband from the stock rom. I've also tried to flash from the July ROM but it still has the same issue.

Base band would be BM9615A-CEFWMAZM-3.0.113012 . I'm using CM 10.1 for now so I don't have the firmware anymore. Yes, it's the AT&T E980 Version

Yes it was the only AOSP ROM I've tried. Got the AT&T E-980 model. but its unlocked and I'm using it on T-mobile. Didn't mean to be vague in my response..anything else i can add?

[Q] Out of the Rom game for awhile

I haven't tweaked anything lately, due to a a very busy work schedule (which I can hopefully share a new app that'll be released fairly soon with all of you, here's a link http://www.yondermusic.com/)
However, I was wondering what's been lacking in the dev community? Looks like you have plenty of Roms, but I've provided a poll in the top to see where I can try to contribute. The LG Optimus G was the first phone I've contributed on, and I'll like to do that again.

A gproj Kernel for CM11?
Something like stock cm kernel but adding gamma control, etc... Preserving stability and adding some essentials teaks?
There's only a few options for those who still run gproj because our phones doesn't like gee, almost all the devs have been working with gee now.
