If your S3 isn't rooted there is nothing you can do with a .zip file since you need a custom recovery to flash a .zip
And your USB cable is needed to root as well.
Someone feel free to correct me but I think you're out of luck until you find a USB cable.

So I was trying to try out other superusers and accidentally unrooted my device. Any suggestions to reroot?

Which rom you are in? If 4.3, download dr.keran multitool v6, flash and root from there. Then reboot and download SuperSu from playstore again.

Use cf-auto root, you may have to be in stock recovery though I'm not sure, so flash back to stock just in case and then flash cf-auto root, after that you will be rooted.. Of course since you have a custom recovery you can also just flash a custom ROM if you wish
