[Q] How to completely restore/un-root/s-on - Verizon HTC One (M7)

So, I've no idea how to do this (noob here). I'm on the VZW HTC One. It's rooted, S-OFF, locked (relocked) boot loader, HTC Dev build. What I'd really, really like to do is completely (and I mean completely), relock/reset the phone. I would use recovery, but I can't boot into recovery. After a bit, it restarts and goes into the regular boot. I've tried to flash the default/stock recovery image, but every time I try I get this:
Code:
sending 'recovery' (16383 KB)...
OKAY [ 2.167s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 2.201s
I've got USB Debugging on, so I've got no idea what I'm doing wrong here. I've spent a lot of time looking, but I couldn't find anything that actually fit what I needed.

First you need to unlock the bootloader to be able to flash items.

[Q] error with newest clockworkmod

Hi.
At first I tried the fastboot method, with this result;
Code:
C:\Users\Sveinus>fastboot flash recovery C:\recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (1250 KB)... OKAY [ 0.189s]
writing 'recovery'... FAILED (remote: image error! (BootMagic check
fail))
finished. total time: 0.190s
Then I tried to flash it with enrEVOked again, and I thought it was finished when it said "running root." so I disconnected the phone. After that I've been unable to start recovery mode, and than I tried method II here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929628
and I'm stil unable to enter recovery :S
I recommend you reflash the device with a RUU, then do the Unrevoked again. I usually untick 'Disable security on phone" before enabling USB debugging on the phone in Unrevoked since it doesn't work for me (why install something that doesn't work?) and apply the AlphaRev HBOOT instead.
Also, if an error comes up regarding getting root, reset to factory settings from the OS (Settings) and try again.
unrEVOked doesn't S-OFF GSM phones, only CDMA ones
Ah, didn't know that. Thanks
god tho know !

[Q] Desire Stuck in hboot with RUU option only

I've got Desire which is stuck in hboot with only ruu option. The original owner tried to apply the official Gingerbread update and failed. It's S-ON with new hboot. I've tried to apply the RUU again and it hang on updating radio.... and in one point I've got the screen where it says that everything is ok except the radio. I've tried to Alpharev it, SuperOneClick, Revolutionary and so on. but without success, they are all waiting for the device
I assume that this hboot with only ruu option doesn't give much of the fastboot commands. The only one I have successfully started is fastboot devices. The fastboot flash of any img is no go.
Is there something I can do to get custom recovery or s-off to get it back to life?
btw. I've read all the possible threads that I could find, with connection to this status, but all of the people that have solved the issue are with S-OFF phone.
Thanks
So you are currently on hboot version 1.02.0001? If yes, revolutionary should work. This "waiting for device" sounds to me as if you did not uninstall htc sync (reboot computer after this) and installed these htc fastboot drivers from revolutionary site. Or did you?
From what you've told us, it's a radio brick - which is unfixable. Only hope is to send it back to HTC and make up a good story.
If the radio update really failed, the phone would not react at all.
TouchPaled from dGB with Transparent XDA App
@MatDrOiD: I've tried that, but nothing happens. But I've successfully managed to "finish" the RUU with revolutionary fastboot drivers. But at the end it showed the screen with some sort of info in hboot which says radio_v2: fail-pu in red letters, end everything else is ok. But it's still stuck with htc logo with exlamation marks or hboot with ruu option.
@bortak: The phone was not rooted or S-Offed so I think there's nothing to be concerned about warranty with HTC. But I don't have warranty for it, maybe the previous owner have it.
Maybe it's a radio brick, but I'm thinking if the xtc clip can sort thing out. If the xtc clip can flash the new hboot and even recovery, maybe it could unbrick the phone? :|
Thanks for you answers, I hope that the phone is not that dead
Same thing has happened to me. It's stuck at the hboot screen with the following:
AlphaRev CM7 r2
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
RUU
It does not show a "Fastboot" option, and pressing Vol Down or Back buttons while turning it on does nothing. I've tried almost every alternative out there, to no avail. It's that screen or the black one with the /!\ on the corners, nothing else.
EDIT:
I've gathered some additional information that could lead to a solution:
I've run Fastboot from the command line, and it recongizes the device s/n, and even lets me run most of the commands. The phone, however, remains unaltered, displaying the same screen with the Alpharev hboot.
Using Android Flasher i've managed to flash a recovery, but couldn't flash the boot.img:
sending 'recovery' (3054 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.589s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.907s]
finished. total time: 1.496s
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.587s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 0.587s
rebooting...
finished. total time: 18.499s
sending 'hboot' (1934 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.377s]
writing 'hboot'...
FAILED (remote: image error! (Platform check fail))
finished. total time: 0.378s
rebooting into bootloader...
OKAY [ 0.091s]
finished. total time: 0.091s
rebooting...
So I'm thinking the problem has something to do with the bootloader. Thing is, there's no way to overwrite the hboot already present. Neither stock nor clockwork hboots are working.
¿Is there any way to erase/replace the HBOOT?

All you need is alpharev downgrade (flash it via fastboot commands not commander) then run 2.3 RUU (or official 2.3 upgrade that can be found on htc dev site, you can call it however you want).

[Q] Stuck - HTC HBoot / Fastboot

My brother-in-law had his T-Mobile G2 (stock, never rooted) phone for about 2-years and just after coming back from his trip from Europe his phone turned on to the white HTC HBoot/Fastboot screen. He couldn't figure out how to get out of it, so he gave the phone to me.
I'm no expert with Android, more of a noob than anything else. But I want to get the phone to work as my 1.5-year and 3.5-year old boys need a phone to play with without worrying if they break-it. So I've spent about 10-12 hours playing with it, researching everything I could, but got really no where.
What I do know:
* Volume up/down rocker buttons do not work in the white screen
* The phone will recognize a USB connection
* The phone boots up in FASTBOOT mode, but can be forced in HBOOT (via volume down + power-key)
* I can get it to boot up in the OEM 2.3.1 stock BUT it seems like it's asking for a LOCK PATTERN that my brother-in-law can't get through. With enough attempts, it asks for his Google sign-in which doesn't work.
* I've made an attempt in flashing it with a clean PC10IMG ROM to no success:
C:\HTC\Android>fastboot devices
HT09VRxxxxxx fastboot
C:\HTC\Android>fastboot flash zip pc10img.zip
sending 'zip' (124928 KB)... OKAY [ 21.859s]
writing 'zip'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 42.063s
C:\HTC\Android>fastboot flash zip pc10img.zip
sending 'zip' (124928 KB)... OKAY [ 21.781s]
writing 'zip'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 41.922s
C:\HTC\Android>fastboot reboot
rebooting...
finished. total time: 0.375s
C:\HTC\Android>
I would appreciate any suggestions, as I'm tired of looking and searching through the forums with no help.
Thank you!
HBoot Screens...
I've attached the HBoot screens with and without USB connection... with the volume rocker not functioning.
Please note that the volume rocker does work when booted in the stuck OEM screen.
Your are safe because Hboot /fast boot is at your disposal, But you are S-ON, that means NO ROOT ACCESS NO RECOVERY! you cant even flash any custom ROM as far i know .. you can take your concern to this Forum Hope you get some Help from Demkantor http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1983163 :fingers-crossed:

Botched my old recovery, and can't flash a new one...help?

I've been playing around with some of the JB ROMs, and was using Goo Manager and TWRP to do it. Then, because I'm an idiot, I decided I wanted to upgrade TWRP to 2.3.3.0 (I think I was running 2.3.1.0).
That's when I ran into the "TWRP doesn't always install properly" problem. I've now tried updating TWRP from within Goo Manager more than 5 times, but it's not working.
So I decided I'd install the new recovery via the FASTBOOT method.
I have HBOOT 0.92. I have ADB and FASTBOOT loaded on my laptop. (I'm pretty sure this is the way I originally installed CWM 5.0.2.0 when I first rooted my phone ages ago.)
When I boot the phone into the bootloader and choose FASTBOOT, then plug it into my laptop, I get the "FASTBOOT USB" indication that it's connected, so that's good.
However, when I open a terminal window on my laptop, navigate to my miniadb folder (where the fastboot.exe and recovery images are located), and try to flash the recovery image, I see the green bar in the upper right corner of the phone, but on the laptop I get this:
c:\miniadb>fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.3.3.0-inc.img
sending 'recovery' (3642 KB)... OKAY [ 11.235s]
writing 'recovery'... FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 11.268s
So then I decided to give up on TWRP and go back to CWM, but there's no joy there, either:
c:\miniadb>fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-inc.img
sending 'recovery' (3064 KB)... OKAY [ 12.370s]
writing 'recovery'... FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 12.402s
What causes the "FAILED (remote: not allowed)" response? Clearly I'm sending the data to the phone, but the phone's rejecting it for some reason.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a foolproof way to get a recovery (either CWM or TWRP--at this point, I'm not picky!) back on my phone?
Thanks!
MC
Check the last two pages of the tarp thread for a twrp hboot PB31IMG.ZIP or see my direct link below.
http://goo.im/devs/tiny4579/mods/PB31IMG-TWRP-2.3.3.0.zip
This method works without fastboot.

For what it's worth, I think you need to upgrade HBOOT to 1.02 or 1.07 and unlock it through htcdev to be able to use the fastboot flash commands. But the flashable zip for TWRP should fix it for you too and that way is easier and just as reliable.

[Q] Bricked ?? Please Please Please Help

Hi
I have tried going back to Sense stock after trying out GPE edition lollipop flavour.
Unfortunately somewhere along the way something has gone horrible wrong and I'm now stuck in a bootloop with a Red Triangle
My bootloader is currently locked, althougth I am S-Off. I can still access fastboot and RUU but the problem is when I try to flash standard or twrp recovery i get the following error message
From RUU
./fastboot flash recovery recov.img
target reported max download size of 1830711296 bytes
sending 'recovery' (16092 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.442s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 1.447s
So I currently have no os, no recovery and no way of loading a recovery back on as you can see above... am I screwed ???
Have now managed to put stock recovery back (via ruu) on and at the top of the screen it says entering recovery but never gets any further ...
Have tried again to install twrp ... no joy there what so ever
Dont' Worry I got the same problem but I fixed it!!
