How do you do screenshots on kit kat. All the roms Ive installed have taken away the screenshot function. Also is there a way to get separate test tones for individual contacts back (stock phone used to do this).
thanks

Hi,
--JPU version--
i modded the Camera.apk a bit.
Changes:
-take Pictures with pressing power button.
-Take pictures even if your battery is at 2%
You can apply it with my SGS Tools app or push it manually to /system or with Muspelheim (http://softdevs.wordpress.com/muspelheim/)
If you are not on JPU or newer, choose Camera_old.apk !
See the code changes here
Changelog:
Version 4:
-based on jpu
-exif data correct again
Version 3:
-focus before taking picture when using power key (not sure about it)
Version 2.
-use the power key instead of volume keys
Version 1
-initial release

Then something went wrong, if you installed it via my app, check if busybox is installed.

Should work on all froyo firmwares, not sure about eclair.
I tried upgrade Stock Apps from SGS Tools, but nothing happens. No Change.
No point in Upgrade Stock Apps is changing my System.
Edit: Stupid. I forgot the checkbox.
You have root and busybox is installed?
Next version of the app will show if there appears errors while applying..

No everything works. Was my error, your app is working. The hacked cam is really nice.
Some suggestion for hacked gallery3d: enable autorotation at start and disable on exit.
Great work! Was searching earlier this week for an hack/app that would use the power button als capture button but could only find a very old thread about this on XDA.
Wondering why someone didn't attempted this before, it seems so natural. Samsung should have made this the default behavior in the first place, locking the camera with the power button caused pain when I accidentally pressed it the first time I got my SGS and it wouldn't respond..

Indeed it would. Either making it a selectable option or disabling it altogether is fine by me.
Nice work, btw.
Welcome everyone! I will make simple & clear.
All you need to do is you need to press home button and power button at the same time. Wasn't that simple? Hope you enjoy!
Wow!! I did not know that my cellphone could do it. Thanks by the tip.

Neat!!! I looked over the internet and found a lot of button combination like home+back+volume up buttons but none of them worked. Thanks! (deletes screen shot app)
Question: why is it that every time I take screenshot of a video, nothing appears?
I have no idea, maybe you can't do it while watching a video.

I'm on stock ICS and I tried every combo(power/home,power vol down/up,etc.) but didn't work.
When I hold down home i see the ics task manager. Anyone have any ideas...thanks
If the button combos don't work purchase screenshot ER. Best screenshot app hands down. Has worked flawlessly with every phone/rom combo I've tried it with in the last 2 years.
I was just wondering what screen shot apps. people are using.
I have a few different ones on my phone but none seem to work on the 7.
I did a search and didn't come up with anything, if this was covered I'm
sorry in advance.
Thanks!

At night time I often have the phone under my pillow so I can listen to music quietly, instead of leaving it on the nightstand.
I figured using the volume keys might be a sensible approach, but then realized that would just change the volume.
I was wondering if anyone has figured a way (either through an app or Tasker) to change tracks without turning the screen on and touching the phone?
I think the Nottach mod has a feature to change tracks by holding the volume buttons.

Thank you for the info.
I was hoping for an app (or Tasker profile) instead of changing my ROM as right now, I am quite happy with rooted stock.
