[Q] How are carriers disabling quick settings panel buttons on 4.3? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

According to a quick decompilation of SystemUI.apk, there should be a maximum of 19 quick settings buttons available. Carriers seem to be able to hide certain buttons -- for example, Telus' version of 4.3 has 16 buttons available and one of the unavailable ones is the Mobile Data toggle. Very annoying...
Does anybody know where Touchwiz is getting the configuration data that tells it what buttons to disallow? I've looked through the CSC files and haven't been able to see anything related to this.
----
Edit: Right now, rather than laboriously enabling/disabling the various lines in the CSC files to see what they do, I created a flashable version of the firmware with the entire CSC folder removed which I flashed after wiping data/caches. The Mobile Data toggle is now available.

[Q] Request - Screenshots of Settings\Wireless & Networks\Mobile Networks

Hello,
I now this sounds kind of strange, but I need to create a small procedure on how to disable data roaming and provide it to our employees.
Unfortunately, I flashed a MIUI Rom on it and the settings menu looks completely different.
It is true that I could flash a Sense rom again, but it would require me to change my hboot partition layout again, flash another rom, wipe all my data/settings and it would take me almost half a day to get my MIUI Rom completely configured again.
If it is not too much to ask, could someone be so kind to provide me 4screenshots from their device (Sense/ASOP)?
- One from the app drawer with the Settings icon visible
- One from the Settings menu with the Wireless & Networks option visible
- One from the Wireless & Networks menu with the Mobile Networks option visible
- One from the Mobile Networks menu itself
I would be very grateful.
Wkr,
Laurens.

Help - request for latest stock settings.apk

Hi,
Could someone kindly provide me with the current settings apk as i was a bit daft and forgot to back it up whilst trying to mess about with lock screens.
Cheers
Please delete thread - worked out how to do it
can you enlighten the rest where to find it?
Yes sure. I Extracted the update-kindle-juniper-35.4.6.1_user_461013820.bin file using 7-Zip and when it creates a folder you need to traverse to:
System > App and voila There are the main APK's so you can keep this as an apk backup area in case you mess up like i did
oh sorry i though this was about replacing the settings.apk witht he stock android one.
No it was putting the currently Amazon one back in - I tried a stock android one and had nothing but problems with it. Whether it is because there are 2 Amazon Settings apks
AmazonSettings.apk
AmazonSettingsPermissions.apk
Also the option to change lock screens does not show visually in the settings menu, but if you add a lock screen it will send you to the hidden settings option (Notification Access) to enable to the change which lock screen receives notifications.
Tried long and hard with this if you add a stock settings.apk lock screen option gets a bit corrupted and you cannot preview edit original one.
I really wanted to mess abit more with lock screen but looking at the apks for the Amazon rom:
LockScreen.apk
LockScreenPreviewer.apk
LockScreenSettings.apk
LockScreenSettingsPreviewer.apk
I didnt know if normal roms has 4 different ones??

Button haptic feedback and q-button stopped working

Hello, this is my first time posting here. I was having some trouble with the touch screen not being responsive enough, sometimes missing my taps. So I installed this mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2347009&page=3
Not only did it not appear to change anything, after rebooting I found that my menu and back button no longer vibrate like they should (yes vibration is on in settings) and my q-button no longer does anything. And my home key does not turn the screen on now either. This has to be a simple key configuration change but someone please help me fix this issue Oh also I have the at&t version of the phone if that makes a difference.
Edit: I have found more information about this problem. One being that the mod I spoke of only changes the usr folder of the system folder which contains the key mappings gk-keypad-8064.kl file. I tested and trying to change the QuickButton command in the settings no longer affects this key mappings file as I believe it should. So somehow it either can't find the file (even though it's there) or thinks that the file is corrupt. So is there anyone who has the stock gk-keypad-8064.kl file I can use? Or maybe there should be different permission settings other that rw r r? Please let me know as I think this is the main problem here.

How about you try to flash back to the stock rom using the lg flash tool?
I fixed it with a work around. I used exposed additions to force haptic feedback and also to map the q button key. Hopefully if anyone else has this problem it will help them.

T-mobile customization

Hello there,
Since I have updated my LG G4 to 6.0 MM, I get a message every time when data option reconnect. It says: "customize your phone. Download carrier's apps and content" . I know it's T-mobile customization, but I don't want it on my phone.
When I go to Setings - Apps - Show System - App updates - notifiations I have 3 options:
*Priority
*Allow Peeking
*Hide sensitive content
No matter what I try but the message keeps coming back.
When I press "Force Stop" the message dissapear. But when data connect again after losing wifi or after a restart, the message is coming back.
What can I do so the message wil never come back again. Root and download the T-mobile customization is not an option
Without root, you are screwed, and the workaround you found is the only one available.
You could take out the sim, but that would render it quite useless.
With root you can undo all their cosmetic changes (like freeze the APK).
You can root without unlocking the bootloader, which would still allow you to flash an original image (recommend you make your own backup)
But it would be a bit more cumbersome without a nice recovery on the phone itself.
If you softbrick you will need a computer.
Along with the cosmetic changes, they might optimize certain settings for their network (at least I think they could).
So unless you download the patch and study it's effects (backup, install, backup again, compare changes).
You might be missing out on channel/network changes that could affect the quality of your service.
If you root, you might be able to trick your current rom into thinking it already has the patch applied, but this would be complicated.
It's easier to just override or remove their changes after it has been applied.
Like the boot animation, ringtones, backgrounds, etc.

User profiles on Galaxy S9?

Would anyone know if the Galaxy S9 natively supports user profiles so that multiple users can login and use the same phone with their unique settings and apps? If not would anyone be able to recommend an application that could accomplish this?
The functionality has been disabled for stock Samsung ROMs long time ago (if it was ever enabled). There were some discusions in the past regarding this and what I remember is that you need root for this to work. You have to edit build.prop and include the lines:
fw.show_multiuserui=1
fw.max_users=n (where "n" is a number indicating the max users on device - should be at least 2)
Alternative is to flash an AOSP based ROM that has the function enabled.

I unfortunately cannot root the device as it will be provisioned for company use :/ is there a launcher that could help to accomplish this?
Sorry, none I know. The functionality is deep embeded in the OS, a launcher would not be enough to accomplish that
You could however use dual accounts for certain apps or mail and also use Secure Folder to lock out personal/private data. This way you will have some sort of multi user since the secure folder keeps data in separate encrypted form
