Hey guys,
first time posting on XDA and hopefully will get some help in regards to my question.
I have a HTC Wildfire S A510b the 3G Network Bands are 850MHz/2100MHz. I've seen that most of the custom roms available for the Wildfire S, are the Wildfire S A510e which the Network Bands are 3G 900MHz/2100MHz.
Is it possible to use those roms for my Wildfire S A510b?
I do apologize for the question just want to make sure that I don't "brick" my phone.

Roms don't contain radios, so roms can be flashed..........but I'm not 100% sure of any side effects that could cause(low signal etc)
You will have to take the risk, but don't forget to make a backup just in case

Hi everybody,
The HTC triumph who should be the same phone as the HTC desire will be release in a few week I was wondering if i update the Rom radio of my desire with one in the HTC triumph, is it allow me to have access to 3g . Indeed the only difference between the 2 phone are the 3g frequencies.
Thanks for your answers.

first of all i highly doubt it, porting radios over sounds like brick heaven to me, more importantly why on earth would you want to do that?
Hi,
I used to live in France and I bought a HTC Desire there.
I moved to canada and the my phone works well except I can only use Edge. I checked the specs and I saw the frequencies are different between french operators and canadian ones. (I also have a HTC Kaiser who works well on the 2 networks, I do not understand why....)
So I am wondering if there is any solution to make HTC Desire working with 3g here or am I stuck with Edge ? It is not a big problem but it is a little bit slow.
Thanks for your help
I think you're talking about 850mhz vs 900mhz? If so, (and someone correct me if I'm wrong here) it's a matter of hardware, so there's really nothing you can do about it. :/

Best to install the latest Radio Update from the Android Development section and see if that is any better, flashing the Radio from a different ROM IS a fast route to bricking

Yes it exactly my problem.
So I will try latest Rom as you suggest. I hoped this was a matter of drivers not hardware
Thanks for your help.

I plan on getting a wildfire soon. And I want to rot and install roms. But what I'm wondering Is does it matter if my phone is cdma and the roms are for GSM? Also are all the roms out for the wildfire GSM or cdma?
Cdma wildfire is called HTC bee, whereas gsm version is called HTC buzz. There is no custom recovery for HTC bee AFAIK. So don't get cdma wildfire if you want custom roms.
And why do you choose wildfire. It is already outdated. Many users with wildfire (including me) are willing to sell their phone. Now a days you get better devices than it even with low price. The LG optimus p500 and zte blade are preferable (if cam and flash is not given priority).
The newer wildfire s is not rootable as now. So it is also not recommended. Ignore if you are a sense lover.

He meant Wildfire S.
Hello, I was just wondering if the htc wildire s from us cellular works with the roms that devs are making on here.
This is the one I'm talking about:
http://www.uscellular.com/uscellula...rola,Pantech,PCD,Samsung&phone-sort-options=2
Thanks.
Wildfire S has 3 type of phones. There's Marvel, Marvelc, and Marvelct. Marvel is for GSM networks. I know Marvelc is for CDMA such as VM USA. I'm not sure what US Cellular is but it's either Marvelc or Marvelct. Most of the ROMs available are for Marvel but there are some for your phone. Check out the MarvelUSc team since they make rome for CDMA phones.

I was wondering what the differences were in regards to model numbers.
My phone info states that I have a
HTC Wildfire S a510b
But I have seen others which differ.
Will this pose any problems or special requirements when I want to S-off, root, etc my phone?

Hm I don't really know. All I know is that I have an e version and that it works with just about any rom. You could test and find out though, and then report back to the developer saying if it works on your phone type or not.

Is your phone s-off? if so how did you get it?
HTC Wildfire S (A510B) – NextG and 3G
HTC Wildfire S (A510E) – 3G only?
HTC Wildfire S (A510B) – NextG only
From what I read on another forum, those are the only differences.

Actually, I have an A510e too. But no Overclockable Kernel ist working for me.
I Think not all Phones are the same one even if they have the same name.
Mine is a A510e and I'm overclocked ... Kernel is Einstien.frat's Cake (v1.4) but Dust worked fine too.
Phone: HTC Wildfire S (GSM)
HTC Sense: 2.1
Software number: 2.26.163.1
Kernel: Cake v1.4 @806mhz
"You can overclock as much as you want, your phone will always seem too slow."
There's an A510x too. Very rare though.

A510B-Also has a few different basebands
A510C-CDMA version of the wildfire s
A510E-The genric version of the wildfire s
A510a and A510b are some carrier specific versions while A510e is the Global version
OK guys, so long story short, my X8 broke down and I am looking forward into bying the inspire or the desire hd for easter. As I have seen on the forums the HD has more development and has custom kernels ( I haven't found any for the inspire, correct me if I'm wrong). So I was wondering wich phone should I buy. First of all please state the differences (if any). Then about the kernels and rom stuff, can I treat an Inspire as a Desire HD? I mean, can I load Desire HD kernels and Roms on the Inspire? And finally if not which phone should I buy? If you are familiar with any phones similar to the inspire please state the in a line under your answers! Thank you! Looking forward into joining the community and contributing to it!
The difference between desire hd and inspire is with the network band both operate on. You can use desire hd roms, kernels with inspire and you need to flash inspiremod zip using recovery to brand ur phone as inspire.

Why are you opening the same thread twice? Reading would have answered all your questions,. DHD and Inspire are the same device with different radio frequencies. Mostly all roms / kernels and radios work in both devices.
