When you're using Odin does it turn yellow showing your phone is connected?
Make sure all drivers are installed and you're using Odin 1.85.

@210euser Thanks ...drivers are good. Windows 8.1 can see the phone and odin also...
I will try Odin 1.85 but I used 3.07 when I rooted the phone after I bought it...?
I think I used Odin 3.07 a year ago...?

I'm having the same issue... I have SGH-i317m.
4.3 bootloader kept failing and my phone wouldn't boot anymore, so I used the same ODIN to revert back to the 4.1.2 bootloader..
So since, I reverted my phone back, I know the ODIN works and I have the necessary drivers installed.. any idea?
I've attached a screenshot of the situation right now.. I've already tried 5 times and they all failed.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303046
OK I uninstalled KIES... re installed it and selected also include universal driver and hub drivers are there . Then used Odin 1.85 and boot loader went threw

So you got the 4.3 bootloader to work? Could you perhaps upload the tar file that you used to flash?
I'm starting to think that my tar file is the issue... bc I tried installing the drivers with Kies as well, and still no luck..

Yes it worked...don't know why.. The file was from Miscoms stainless rom. but I don't see it there. The DN3 Ditto post has the file there.

Hi guys,
New to this forum and i need some expertise from you guys. Tried looking all over online for an answer but cant seem to find one. Here is my issue, my phone is a T999v phone from wind but my carrier is mobilicity. I got the OTA push for the new firmware a week ago or so, i am able to download it but when it reboots to do the install the file goes corrupt and wont install and tells me to try through kies. The other issue i am having as of right now is that i am not able to connect to kies via usb which will do the firmware upgrade. Want the latest updates but it is seriously giving me a major headache. Any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.
Did you try installing the drivers for the sgs3 from Samsung's site (for your computer), reboot your computer then try going thru kies?

Kies never works for me, either. It's garbage anyhow, and there is no reason to install it.
Are you rooted? Do you have CWM or TWRP? Are you downloading the OTA over wifi?

No im not rooted...but CWM does pop up after my phone reboots to try to install, that is when i get the error message. tried doing OTA through wifi and carrier but doesnt work either way.
An ota from Mobilicity will fail on a Wind phone. You could possibly get around this by using mobile odin or maybe cwm. But i really dont know if its a good idea to try. The fw from each carrier would have to be very similar and i dont know what the differences really are.
If you do want to update via kies download the latest from samsung.com/kies but uninstall any previous versions an drivers first. Installing kies will also install drivers.
Alternatively you could download the full VLALH2 fw from sammobile.com/firmware and flash through odin or mobile odin.

You need to be on stock recovery to ota update, unless I'm wrong...

Actually, you can use mobile odin as well. Cwm too im told, but i havent tried.
Ops problem im pretty sure is hes trying to apply a mobilicity ota to a wind phone.
But you are correct as to how it was intended to be used.

So it seems I've gotten myself stuck in a loop.
I have CWM, and a stock rom w/ Root. I haven't even uninstalled the bloatware, I only wanted it to pair to a PS3 controller via bluetooth.
It seems that on Saturday night, my USB micro port stopped working on the phone. There was a point it wouldn't even charge, but I got that working. I'm not sure if it's lint in the port or what, but my attempts to clean it have failed.
Because of this, I'm unable to use odin or kies to flash the phone, and the OTA update keeps failing with CWM installed. My question is, is there a way to flash the stock bootloader using the terminal (much like how I installed CWM, using recovery.img), so I can then install the OTA update, or another stock update, and possibly take my phone in for warranty? I don't even care about rooting it again.
The counter is at 0 BTW.
So I can't use the OTA update, because of CWM, but I can't remove CWM because the USB port is toast, but I can't get it warrantied because it's rooted w/ CWM. This is on a blue 32GB Bell phone.
Thanks,
LDS

He can download the update on his phone and extract it with Root Explorer or something else. And I'm assuming that you know what is Mobile ODIN.

I googled mobile ODIN - It's ODIN on the phone. I can upload the update using an FTP app, so I'm going to give it a try. Which frankly, is better than anything I've come up with.

You're my hero. This worked. It flashed away CWM, and I managed to get JB. I forgot to uncheck maintain root, but since I have the stock JB now, I could really care less at this point about my USB (as long as it continues to charge)
So I have an att gs3 with Tmobile service. I have unlocked the phone my self. Where the problem lies is I can't get it to root. I've tried it on windows with Odin didn't work. I've tried it on my Mac with heimdall didn't work. My kies on my Mac will read the phone and let it connect but aft won't read. But heimdall does detect a device. It fails when it comes to debugging. Idk what to do. I want to root!!! Please help me!

I believe kies is to be uninstalled before using ODIN.

That's not correct. I use Odin everyday and certainly do not uninstall Kies first. OP, have you tried different ports on your pc? Try them all. Another thing I read, if you are on a 64 bit machine, try creating a 32 bit virtual and doing it from there(last resort). Try doing it from a Windows XP computer(if not already). And try to flash back completely to stock, unrooted, and start again. See if any of those help.

Are you trying to root in download mode or with the phone turned on?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
root
It is in download mode. I heard people had this problem before but found no real answer.
Your are using the *.tar? Or you unzipped it?
Also try reinstalling drivers. Connect it turned on, let the PC recognize it. Then do do the same in download mode. Then disconnect the phone, open Odin an try again.

tried to unroot kept failing pressed re-partion and reset time and also tried a usb 2.0 instead of 3.0
model should be SGH-m919 as im in america and use t-mobile and in the download screen its red SGH-M919..
i had issues rooting it a while back with it showing that it failed every attempt i forget which odin i used and root file but it eventually worked after using an older version of odin... it seems random.
Im trying to make it non-void so no rootkit and i know the rest [just need it set back to factory default!]
maybe updated drivers for my windows?
maybe its my windows 8.1 but i last did this on windows 8 [both x64]
Thanks in advance im sure ill find the proper fix for this issue here.

On this note, if you have updated to Android 4.3 and are trying to flash back to 4.2, it won't work. You'd need a stock 4.3 image to flash in Odin.
I don't know if this is what your problem is, but I do know that a lot of people have run into this road block triyng to do exactly this.
