Hey guys,
I wonder if someone can help and point me in the right direction to fix a battery issue I am having. I have a Sony Xperia Arc S LT18i, it's run stock ICS, with the bootloader unlocked, rooted and a bit of the c**pware removed.
My battery keeps getting stuck at 100%.
I tried the following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2408612
I tried wiping the battery stats in CWM but that doesn't work either. AFAIK the battery apps in GPlay just do the same thing.
From kernels I have tried Lupus, ArcKnight, StockICS and Advanced Stock. I use Link2SD and I believe the stock Sony kernel does not provide support?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320872
So I can flash Lupus (or any boot.img) and flash back to stock, the battery meter is correct. As soon as I remove the battery, to either fix a freeze or to remove the memory card the battery meter jumps back up to 100% again. So I have to flash and reflash back to stock...
Anyone have the same issue? How can I fix this? I don't always have a computer with me to fix it
thanks
Ran into same issue. Solution? Don't remove your battery for every little single thing.
And changing kernel easily fixed the issue for me.

Well this is what I have been doing, but only since I realised what was causing the issue. Changing the kernel temporarily fixes the issue, until I remove the battery again, and then I need to reflash it. Problem is I am not always by a computer to be able to reflash the boot.img and it also makes my spare battery completely useless.

I started with a clean install of stock ICS restored back with Sony Flashtool. Maybe I need to do this again and just be careful in every step.
I was hoping there was a simpler fix, like a specific kernel that resolved this issue so i didn't have to reinstall all my apps and settings
thanks for the replies
Thanks for the replies. For anyone else that stumbles on this thread, I managed to finally resolve my issue.
After trying numerous stock kernels, the issue was resolved by flashing Rush Kernel V13 (and the required WiFi modules).
I can now change the battery and remove the sd card without battery meter issues. Everything seems stable so far (1 day of usage) and battery life seems good.

I used the Rush kernel, but I am on Stock Sony ROM 4.0.4 (ICS) as I mentioned in the post above yours. You should be able to JUST flash the kernel ans try a few of them out, I tried about 5 or 6 before I found one that worked correctly.
I'm not sure which kernels you could use with CM11 though...
Delete battery stats in CWM>advanced if you are on rooted phone, it always solves issue.
Same problem with me too on kitkat roms... Stuck 100% and power off at 30%

You must retry a complete process for installing a new ROM
either:
1) flash the stock ftf file to your device 4.1.B.0.587 using FlashTool
2) flash the recovery from the new ROM with the command
fastboot erase boot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
3) Flash the new ROM from CWM
I've had this problem by returning a custom CWM to the original ROM and this solution worked
I had this problem too (I bought my phone second hand so not sure whether it's had ROMs changed etc). |
What fixes it for me (so far) is to just let the phone totally run out of battery - then leave it off (no need to remove the battery) for 10-12 hours and then plug it in to charge.
battery showing 100%
i have same issue in my phone.i have tried a lot of techniques but one of them was successful .i turned my phone off for 7-8 hous but still kept my battery in my phone.after this,i turned it on and it worked:laugh: ......this olny worked unless i pull out battery from phone..turning off phone does not effect
what Solution?
For me, idem.
I have used more ROMs on my Arc S...ICS, JB 4.1.2, CM11....now I'm coming back to original (flashing stock ftf with flashtool, root it...and when I change SD, and start phone, 100% it's showed (real was 34% before) so, after few hours, shutdown with 100%->0% and die.
I try to charge, but led it's GREEN, and battery it's showed full. When I disconnect charger, phone after a minutes shutdown itself. If I reconnect to charger, 100% was show again...and so on....
I'm on Advance Stock Kernel....I have wipe battery stats before reboot...nothing....
How fix?
RESOLVED: Leave battery on phone turned off for all night...this morning, turn on and shows 10% percent of battery and recharged correctly.

Ever since I flashed Arconium ICS 4.0 and KTG kernel, I've been facing extreme battery drains. I fixed these drains by flashing the stock kernel but now the problem is, instead of properly shutting down when the battery is empty, the phone keeps rebooting itself. :/ I tried everything. I even flashed .62 firmware and then doomkernel v22 and arconium 8.2. But I'm still getting these reboots at empty battery. Any help ?
I'd also like to know if anyone uses 1.8 Ghz or above in GB with stability and NO crashes. Even with Antutu benchmark. I used to use 1.8 Ghz before without any problems but now it crashes randomly. :|
Anyone. Please ? I'm getting these problems in stock .431 too. Especially the reboots at 0%. v _v

Tried EVERYTHING. :/ Still phone keeps rebooting at 1% or 0% battery instead of shutting down. Really annoying bug. Someone please help.
My Arc S randomly reboots itself, some 2-5 times per day.
I have unlocked bootloader, tried 3 custom kernels (ArcKnight, stock 4.1.A.0.562 and stock 4.1.B.0.431 with CWM) each with 3 different roms (JJ hybrid, Arconium ICS and Mooded ICS 90.3) and still the same thing. Does anyone know if it's kernel issue, software issue or something else?
Only thing I haven't changed from my stock rom is the baseband (64).
Any chance it's hardware problem?
well maybe the battery would have been loose enough to connect and disconnect from the phone
Completely flash back to stock using pcc repair, that's probably the best idea for the moment if you still get it, then try and figure out when it happens I.e. is it when the phones hot, when your jumping around or completely random.

it reboots completely random, sometimes when sitting on the desk, sometimes in the middle of conversation...the heat is normal for the usage situation (no heat when not using the phone). have to see how to use pcc repair, since i haven't used it. i have stock backup made from CWM recovery after unlocking the bootloader and flashing new kernel. maybe i can restore that backup?

Any result yet lalek?
I'm running Mooded ICS 90.7 on my Arc S, with DoomKernel 2.6.32.9, baseband 72, unlocked bootloader and rooted (obviously), and over the past week or so it's been doing random reboots. Sometimes twice a day, sometimes it will go for a few days.
Apps are Titanium Backup, Link2SD, AVG free, Dolphin HD, Superuser, MX Player, and just the usual banking apps, Angry Birds, Gmail etc. It's only rebooted while sitting on the desk sleeping, never while in use. I've uninstalled apps, found it still random reboots so reinstalled them. I'm starting to think its ROM or kernel related.
You should try re-flashing stock ROM ftf file using Flashtool, I recommend 0.587, see link on my signature for ftf file.
Try that for a few days, I'm sure it will be stable, then you can further customize the ROM.
Also be careful of heat if using some sort of tight-fitting case with the phone.
Thanks
I'll try that tonight!
I do have one of those TPU cases and had the phone pretty hot gaming while charging, but it's never hot when it does the reboot.
It will happen when RAM eaten by running application in background. Uninstalling a few apps will be help.

hi guys,
same problem here on my Xperia Arc
i have worked out what is causing the issue for me.
i ran a logcat that updated live to a file on my sd card so as soon as the device rebooted, it had logged the very last thing that happened on the device.
turns out the last thing happening was WiFi scanning.
i then turned my WiFi off and for the past 3 days i have not experienced a reboot at all!
when this first happened these are the steps i took.
i completely wiped the device (factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache partition, format system)
i then flashed Baseband 77 using flashtool
i then flashed fxp149 using flashtool
i then flashed Baseband 77 libs using CWM
i then flashed AOKP JB M1-R1 ROM using CWM
i then flashed gapps using CWM
i the reloaded all apps from the market and not applied any backups and yet it still rebooted all the time.
Since then i have tried using
Fusion 3.8
Fusion 3.9
Fusion 4.0
FXP 148
FXP 150
Stock Kernel inside ROM .zip file.
I have also tried putting it back to Baseband 72 but it made no difference.
I then decided to go all the way back to stock firmware as it is out of the box.
so I used flashtool and flashed LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2716).ftf
I reloaded my applications and monitored the device only to see that by the next day, the problem had returned.
THIS IS NOT A ROM OR KERNEL ISSUE!!
or at least it isnt for me, but it sounds EXACTLY the same as what everyone here is experiencing
i advise everyone, no matter what ROM or Kernel you are running to try turning off your wifi or even putting the device in airplane mode for a day and monitor
also try running a live logcat
to do this, open a terminal session and type
su
cd sdcard
logcat >> logcat.txt
then leave the terminal running in the background. (you will have the icon in the notification area that tells you its running)
you can then check your sd card and will see logcat.txt file there
you need to open it in wordpad or something of the sort as notepad doesnt display it nicely enough to read
anyone who tries this i would love to hear how it goes
i am curious to see exactly what is causing this but im starting to think it is a hardware issue.
hope this helps!!

It is a problem with battery connection. It is like a fabrique fault with Arc S. You have it explained here:
xperia-arcs-auto-reboot.blogspot.com
Hi everyone.
I'm having a little problem with my Xperia S, it's kind of new (2 weeks of use).
When I'm using normally the cellphone, everything works great, but if don't use it for a long time and I grab it faster and unlocked it, sometimes the cellphone freezes! Well, not exactly freezing, it still works but VERY slowly, almost like freezing. I can't turn it off with power button, I had to user Power + Volume button to turn it off/restart it.
That happened in first week, so I unlocked bootloader and flash it another kernel (advanced stock kernel), and the problem was there.
Later I made a backup of the firmware (I updated to its last version with PC Companion, ICS btw) and flashed a custom ROM (XTXperience 4), and the problem was still there.
Yesterday I flashed a Generic ICS ROM downloaded from XDA Server using Flashtool, everything went normal until today, when the problem happened again.
I've been searching here in XDA and Google and still nothing seems clear of what is causing the problem, if it's the sim card or maybe a hardware problem. I'm going to relock the bootloader today, and I will try to repair the phone using SUS.
What is causing the cellphone to freeze? Hope someone help me with this. Thanks in advance!
btw, sorry about my english, hope you understand most of what I wrote
Well in my experience,
The phone freezes because it is too hot,
Or the RAM memory suddenly drops.
I mean sudden ur phone's RAM memory is 0.
I'm not sure too.
But I think reflashing the kernel, or flash other kernel will fix the problem
Try it
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
What ics firmware did you flash? And did you do a complete wipe when flashing?
Sent from my Jellybean Xperia S
I've flashed other kernel and yes, I do a complete wipe when I flash another ROM, via Flashtool or CWM.
I've been thinking of rolling back to GB to see what happens.
Yesterday my phone freezes like 2 or 3 times in less than 15 minutes. First time I reboot the phone and it was ok like 5 minutes, then it freezes. I reboot again the phone and happened again.
Its not even hot or using a lot of RAM, it always has like 250 or 200mb free

No, this is happening since the first boot of the phone. When I turned it on the first time it happened, and I had to search how to force a reboot because I didn't know how to do it LOL
It doesn't happen very often, but when it does is very frustrating!
Try flashing a new rom, but wipe the system partition too? I always do that to ensure a fully clean install.

I'm thinking in flashing a non based stock rom, like CM or MIUI, because I flashed XTXperience before and the freezing happened.
Oh, and the problem still exists. I believe Wi-Fi connection maybe it's the problem, I'm testing some things right now.
Had this too using Supercharger (by zep) but after few setting it's gone. Maybe you should try to run the script ?
It was with stock rom and advanced kernel v15/16.L
Well, I was on 6.1.A.2.45, I relocked the bootloader and an update changed the firmware to 6.1.A.2.55 using SUS without wiping data and the problem was still there, so I repaired the phone with SUS, it erased everything and the problem was gone for like 2 days. Today it happened again.

Hello,
The problem is my bluetooth will not turn on at all, i slide the toggle to activate it and it stays grey for a few seconds and just turns straghit back off.
I've been a bit if a flashaholic the past weeks and have never noticed the problem untill now, im using the pheonix rom but the problem still occured in Omega v10.
Roms ive flashed recently;
MIUI India
Omegav10
Pheonix(current)
All roms flashed had been done so with a full wipe, im at a loss to what the problem is and considering going back to stock rom to see if that will fix the problem.
Im also using ext2sd mod.

Answer the following questions sequentially:-
1.What ROM were you on when you found out the bluetooth problem?Stock or Custom?
2.Did you install a custom kernel?
3.What ROM are you on now?

Do this.
1.Flash Omega again this time select Full Wipe option.(do take previous backups before hand and if you havent made an efs backup earlier, choose "Backup efs" in aroma installer)
2.After a good full wipe check again w/o installing any custom kernel.
Im on Omega v10 too and no problems here. One more question, did the problem start when you flashed v10 ? Was your bluetooth working fine before that
?
Doing so now buddy, yeah it started when i flashed v10. I came from MIUI india.

This is probably unrelated, but recently when i flash a new rom and boot up. perfomance is very choppy/random crashes untill i flash the note2core ext kernel.

That's superstition
Do a Full Wipe before installing a new firmware and you wont have any problems or grave performance issues.
I'll be going off to sleep now.
After flashing v10, if your problem is still not fixed, download this kernel:-http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1634178&d=1357854682
and flash via CWM. And see if the problem is solved.
IF it starts working, do hit thanx.
If it does not, ill think of something else tommorow,
Good luck

Just to clarify, I flashed pers/redpill kernels last night to check if the problem would resolve, but I ran into another problem where when the phone would go into sleep mode it won't wake up,
The only kernel that keeps my phone stable is note2core ex. Can this be due to the 1800 clock speeds on note2core? Arghhh this is driving me insane
Clear data and cache and dalvik cache.
Flash stock rom.
Root.
Triangle away.
Flash stock rom.
If the problem persist then take phone to service center

I had the same problem as you then I followed the link.
My phone is back to normal now.
Hope you can fix your phone too.
Wow exactly the same problem i have and on same roms and kernel and yep also only seems stable on note2core now, i also flashed back to custom and still nothing i have noticed in settings it says bluetooth adress unavailable, is it possible the bluetooth drivers have been wiped ? Any help with this would be great or if you managed to solve the issue , maybe not relevant but my usb also does not work as mass storage or with kies but will connect to odin .
I am having the same problem. I installed a custom rom that messed my phone up big time. I went back to stock and everything works, except for bluetooth. I have gone everywhere I can think of to find a solution to this problem to no avail.

2.Note2core Ext
3.Back to stock, "N7100XXALIJ_N7100O2UALI4_O2U"
4.When i click the bluetooth icon, it goes a darker green like its trying to turn on for a few seconds then back to the off state.

I had the same problem too; the only solution I found out to solve the problem was switching to lupus kernel ( on stock ics ). Try wiping everything flash the latest official firmware with flash tool and then flash lupus kernel for stock ics and see if your battery return to work properly:good:
flash lupus kernel if you are on the stock kernel
Just flash any kernel difrernt from stock.
LuPuS v16 for example if you on 4.1.B.0.587 based firmware.
it worked..
Thanks everyone.. i reflashed the kernal again and it started working.. normally again.:laugh:
*cheers*
