Guys I need your help. The Back and Menu capacitive keys on my G Pro suddenly stopped working.
The physical Home button still works. What happens is that the app icon or a menu selection nearest the Back or Menu key will be executed.
Ex. the Phone icon on the Homescreen is placed on the bottom left part (stock LG icon dock) so when I press the Back button, it will launch the Dialer, or let's say Im inside the MMS/Messaging app., the conversation in the bottom part of the message list will open if I press the Back or Menu key instead of pulling up the Messaging options or get out of it. I hope you are getting what I'm saying.
I tried installing E98810E (and 10A as well) Philippines .KDZ but I always get an error at 30%. I'm losing hope :crying::crying:

Yes, my phone also got the same problem. Now I am using "GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys" (like Nexus) but it's not so user friendly. I am also waiting for this fix,

Problem got worse after some time. The whole bottom of the screen stopped responding.
Flashed my phone back to stock jellybean and got it repaired under warranty. Apperantly a common hardware issue.
Got my phone back a week ago and flashed it again with turkisch kitkat. Everything works fine for now.

Hi all,
I apologise if this is not the right place to pose this question, but I just got a Touch HD on an Orange contract a couple of days ago, and I can't seem to be able to change the text entry method on my handset. It always stays as 'Phone Keypad', no matter which method I select, from the several methods listed: Block Recognizer, Compact QWERTY, Full QWERTY, Keyboard, etc. It's the same whether I try to make the selection by pressing the "OPTIONS" button on the phone keypad, or whether I go through Start->Settings->Input
All the software/hardware configuration on my handset is exactly as it was when I received it from Orange, so far I haven't even installed a single new program.
Any help? TIA
Hi.
Can't offer any advice as such, but can tell you that I got my HD from Orange just over a week ago, and I can change the keyboard without any problems.
I originally had a Touch Diamond, so I knew how I wanted it set up. I just brought up the menu from the keyboard at the bottom of the screen when it first popped up and did it from there.
Sorry I can't be any help, other than to tell you that you should be able to do it!
Good luck mate.
Hi,
I had the exact same problem but i wasnt too bothered but then I installed Gyrator and everything started to work.
Hi,
I had the exact same problem but i wasnt too bothered but then I installed HD Tweak and Gyrator and everything started to work. I have no idea how it worked though.
I got this phone yesterday, and I too was confused as to how I selected the different input method. Then I worked it out
It must be a bug with their firmware. You have to HOLD DOWN the centre button, keep your finger pressed and slide it up the screen to select the preferred input method. I think I did this when I was in the Compose SMS screen.
Since then, mine's stayed as I selected it - on Full QWERTY.
Hope this helps!

Same happened with mine. If you click on the options then you cant change it, however if you click on the box in the middle of the screen at the bottom, you can change them.. Bizarre!

Thanks for the replies and suggestions, guys. I've got it working for me too: by pressing the 4x4 grid-like icon at the bottom centre of the screen to bring up the keyboard, and then pressing the small upward-pointing arrowhead that brings up keyboard options. I guess that's what ultrazonixe probably means... although I couldn't get it work by sliding my finger upwards off the centre button as langauld suggested (except if incidently I did it from the arrowhead icon).
Thanks for the help!
Yes this is quite tricky till you get the idea.
Press the bottom middle button (icon of keypad) to get the keypad up, if its not already up.
Then the bottom icon changes and adds a small up arrow just to the right of the keypad icon. (nothing to do with the four arrows just below the keypad)
you have to press this small up arrow just to the right of the keypad icon and a menu pops labled "touch input settings".
its not the same one that comes up when you press the options tab which does not work.
Press the right choice eg full qwerty or whatever, and hey presto the keypad changes instantly.
same here
Yes I could change it .. via selecting the arrow next to the mini keyboard on the bottom ... but it used to reset it self every time I starsted the phone...
Now I have TouchPal.. I have never looked back.
Hi xda-developers,
I'm having problem relocating and removing my home screen icons.
When I press and hold any icon, it would vibrate and then back to normal. It seems like I released it - but I'm not. I would say my press and hold won't "stick".
FYI, my firmware version is 2.1 update 1, systems version 2.51.0.
Please help me.
Screen protector solved the problem.
But it is clearly stated in user manual not to use screen protector.
I'm confused.
you used a screen protector and the problem went away??

i have the exact same problem. my firmware is also the same. i tried a hard reset the first time it happened and everything seems normal for a few days. but it came back again. i tried switching launchers and it seemed to cure the problem. the problem seems to come from the launcher pro launcher, stock blur weather widget, and perfect system monitor widget combo, not really sure though but still trying to figure it out. i tried go launcher but the problem still crops up. im on adw now and crossing my fingers.
Yes. I just use screen protector during boot up. After boot up, I can remove the screen protector without having the problem.
There's something weird happening during boot up, something like calibrating the screen or something.
Is this defective hardware or software?

Hi guys, I have a strange problem since yesterday morning: Touch buttons don't work anymore. When I press them it's like i press the bottom of the screen, for example if I'm in the home screen, pressing the "home" button will open the menu, and if I press the "search" button the phone opens the personalize menĂ¹. The phone didn't dropped (not recently as well) and the previous evening it functioned without problems, I played with games and all buttons worked. I've tried doing a factory reset, but it didn't solve the problem and it made the boot of the phone impossible (it stucked on the ROM splash screen endlessy) so I flashed another ROM through recovery but with no results, the phone works well in all of its functionality except for the touch buttons.
Can you help me with this problem? My phone is rooted so I'd like to not sending it to HTC for warranty reparation...

I'm afraid but that's the only option left for you to send to HTC because if it is a hardware problem and you waste all of your time trying to get the buttons working and you miss the warranty time then you'll just have to throw your phone in the bin
Hello, n00b here!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S II (SGH-T989 T-Mobile), that has four 'hard softkeys', that is, touchbuttons (menu, home, back, search) outside the display area [no physical clicky Home button], and can't for the life of me, or with bad google-fu, figure out how to make the Home button take me right back to the home screen (launcher). When I press it once I just get a haptic 'bzz', and nothing at all happens. When I double-click it, as I have set in the settings, it goes to Task Switcher, from where I then can reach the home screen by tapping outside the miniaturized windows of running apps.
But, how to I make a single click go directly to the home screen?
Ideally I'd like to have the four buttons be menu=menu, home=homescreen, back=back, search=taskswitcher. Installing a specific app for it (that preferably won't eat up screen real estate with on-display softkeys), another launcher, another Settings app etc, is all okay by me as long as it fixes this major nag.
I don't get to choose other than a preset list in Settings, though. :/
System info is SAMSUNG-SGH-T989, CyanogenMod 11-20140506-NIGHTLY-hercules, Kernel 3.0.101-DIABLO-3.3, launcher Trebuchet 1.0.
(As a little gripe and boo, CM-11 on the Kindle Fire worked wonderfully, where the three on-display softkeys for taskswitch/home/back did just what I wanted them to. I can't see any reason why a JB'd phone would be unable to remap the keys to a select very few options just because they happen to be outside the actual display area. Especially as Home doesn't lead to the Home Screen. :/ )
Tons of grapefruitgrateful for any help here!
-Henrik
Problem solved, good enough for me - installing Hellybean and getting rid of all KitKat related junk.

SGH-T989 Galaxy S II. Home keys aren't working. Sent phone in for charging port repairs. Sent phone back to replace touch keypad flex cable. Buttons have worked intermittently since. They also light up intermittently. I was hoping this was software related. Kies says the firmware is the latest. Any suggestions? The phone is for my 10yr old. Don't really want to invest in something new for her right now, just for games!

So what you gotta do is back up all your stuff and unroot your phone and then reroot it. That's the only way I got it to work for me. Factory reset won't work so don't even bother.
