Hello. I'm new here, and new to forums in general, I usually don't post on them, so sorry if I made any mistakes in posting.
I rooted my first Android device (AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III) (d2att) two weeks ago and went from PAC ROM to AOKP 4.3.1 and I want to install the BMS Kernel on it.
On the BMS Kernel post it says to check if the ROM is a 3.0.y based or 3.4.y based and I don't know how to check what the ROM I have is based on. How do I check which kernel I can install?
Please help me.
Thank you.

3.4.y for latest AOKP. You can ask those questions directly in the BMS thread though, rather than create a new topic. =)
Thank you. And sorry about that, next time I'll ask questions directly in the original thread.

AOKP has become my new favorite custom ROM to flash. i have it on my Nexus 7, and when i used to own the ASUS TF101 and Galaxy Nexus, both had it as well.
i'm looking into flashing AOKP to my Galaxy S3 now, but i'm a little confused what's the difference between these:
[ROM] AOKP(Jellybean)Task & Ktoonsez (10/5) (AT&T/Rogers)
[KERNEL][AT&T][AOSP/Touchwiz][JELLYBEAN & ICS][10/3/2012] KT747 - LG8 - KTweaker (i thought custom ROMs already come with a custom kernal?)
How to flash AOKP custom ROM on the AT&T Galaxy S3 SGH-I747
[ROM][JB] Unofficial AOKP D2ATT (obviously unofficial, but is there a difference?)
and AOKP JB Build 4
in the past, i've just looked for my device on the official AOKP website, but the d2att device isn't available on any of the 4 JB builds.
so yea, any advice on which one is the most current and stable version i should use? or should i wait for it to possibly be added to build 5?
and an unrelated question... is it possible to change the default location/folder when performing a nandroid backup? i would like it to get saved to my micro SD card instead.
I've been using task and ktoonzes aokp since, well since it was ICS lol. I can't really compare it to any other ROM as I haven't seen a need to flash anything else. Ktoonzes kernel adds more functionality over the "stock" kernel that comes with it including over clock and under volt not to mention his own app to control the kernel settings and a widget to keep an eye on it.
thank you for the information.
i just noticed that the [ROM][JB] Unofficial AOKP D2ATT thread has some thanks to task and Ktoonsez for contributions.
and the Android Authority article links to a Ktoonsez download link.
i guess i should just go to the source of all these and flash the [ROM] AOKP(Jellybean)Task & Ktoonsez (10/5) (AT&T/Rogers) one?
All you need is tasks rom
No brainer

You don't want this one. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34159-romjb-unofficial-aokp-d2att/ . Its some guy that has no clue what he's doing.
This is the most updated and it gets kept updated.

lol. thanks for the info task! :good:
Hi guys, I'm new on this board and I just wanted a ask a few question about this rom. Currently I'm using the Xylon 2.3.3 and I'm loving it so far, running beautifully smooth. I just got a question about the gapps, I've installed the 2013-2-15 gapps with all the photosphere stuff, however there is a newer version gapp which is 20130301, should I update to that?
Also is the kernel that it came with any good? or should I change it to AK purity like a lot of user have said to make it run a lot better.
It's safe to update, just flash over the current gapps.
As far as the kernel goes, most users report great things from the AK kernel so it's worth a shot.
For future reference, please use the corresponding Pre-existing ROM thread to ask such questions. There is no need to initialize a completely new thread.

thanks I will in the future. btw I was just checking the kernel version. It seems like the rom has already built in with the ak kernel purity.030. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If that's what your about tab says then yeah.
I have seen a lot of people refer to this kernel: AK.801.Cylon kernel. Is this the same as the ak kernel thread, like v.99 or whatever the newest build is, or is this a separate kernel? If so, link? If I google it, this page pop up, is this the latest of this kernel type:
Search google, AK.801.Cylon kernel:
http://server1.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390355257214632219
Is this the latest? And is this and AK kernel thread (Diamond and Rubik) the same? Can someone clarify, I am new to this phone so still trying to piece everything together, thank you.
Yes. It's the same thread. The dev anarkia1976 aka Stefano and his team of testers are extremely active towards the kernel development. The latest experimental version is SKL v200 and stable is Rubik v16.
Diamond was the name if the earlier experimental version.
(The dev is so active, that by the time you read this, there may be another kernel out.. )
I am using the following ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335130
Chromium ROM build 5
I see that this build isn't that popular and the regular CM stable is update more often.
I am confused as I don't see a CM build for my phone from Mobilicity but Goo manager is showing updates are ready for the regular CM..
Can I just dumped the Chromium and runt he CM build?

You may want to read into a little bit more but this is the thread for cyanogenmod for your phones thread (its the t-mobile/mobilicity thread). From what I searched in the comments it was working for other mobilicity users in the past, but I don't know if anything has happened since. Post your question in that thread and I am sure you will instantly get a response.

slap that thanks button if I have helped
Also in the future I would recommend posting in the T-mobile/mobilicity thread since you will get more people familiar with the device than here in the at&t forum
Since i can't post in the development forum yet as i don't have 10 posts, i have a question that i wonder if anyone is able to answer. I was wondering if the newest version of W03's rom supports the new version of temasek's kernel yet, or if it is still limited to version 2.03
Thanks in advance
