Android Kit Kat 4.4 OTA update Nexus 7 LTE Questions - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hello.
I know the update to Android 4.4 has been out for a couple weeks and I have the link to the .zip update file. However, I do not own a ccomputer (I know... Right!) So I cannot update with ABD.
I am also no rooted and running Android v 4.3.1 JLS36I.
Is there a way to get the OTA update installed on the device in my current status?
Thanks in advance,
Kyle

You could always try going to settings → apps→ all→ Google framework service.
Then delete data.
Then go to settings → about → system update and check for the update. This should start your download

Omg! That totally worked! My tab is downloading the new version right now.
Thank you soooo much! You're awesome!

4.0.3 upgrade questions.

I'm on the LTE version of the nexus, running 4.0.2 rooted and unlocked. Will I still receive the update or do I have to flash it?? If I have to flash it where can I download it at?? I want to use a custom kernel but it won't work with my version...confused.

If you download it OTA then you will lose root. To retain root and custom kernals you will need to manually flash a rooted version by downloading it and using CWM.

You'll need to sit tight and wait for this. Or just flash a custom rom developed from 4.0.3.
I know that, I was telling the original poster that there was no 4.0.3 upgrade available yet.

Oh lol. Some dudes kernel says its only comparable with that version #confused

There are 4.0.3 AOSP builds, grab one!
according some posts, you will not receive future OTA update if you have custom rom installed, even AOSP build.
I just want a stock deodexed 4.0.3 rom. No changes no mods. Does that exist?

If you can't update by going back to stock and use the update device in settings -> about, then you can download it and use Odin to flash. I will wait for a rooted ICS themed version from one of the talented devs :fingers-crossed:
i get my gs3 tomorrow since my htc one x gave out, just in time in my opinion!
Yay for bloat!

Cleanrom question

I'm using the cleanrom and it says I have an update from at&t. But, when I download the update recommend using Wi-Fi, it's takes me into recovery and asks me if I want to tryst unknown zips. So I chose yes and it aborts. No one seems to want to help a person out so I came to this thread

Search before posting. Someone just asked this yesterday and 3 days ago. But to answer the question, you cannot update with a custom recovery installed. You can find the update in the development section and flash it.

It appears im confused

I had a galaxy nexus (wind mobile) previous. To update it so I would get the newest google updates I:
Installed gnex tool
Downloaded new firmware from developers.google.com
Changed my firmware from yakjuxx to Yakju
Then google updates were automatic.
My question is this. I want the asop feel back, but it doesnt appear to be as easy with an S4/M919. Can a GE rom not be downloaded dirrctly from samy or Google? Essentially our t-mobile sgh-m919 is the same phone as the google edition. So why cant GE firmware just be downloaded and flashed to our devices. If so would new uodates be automatic?
Thanks for ur patience as its been a while and im new to this again
Cheers

Sorry I don't think this is possible. But once you get over this, root your device (Chainfire thread ), install custom recovery, Nandroid, then install Virgin Rom.
Thanks

Google already did. Flashing it manually doesn't take any more time than flashing in recovery.

They did support it. You can either be patient or you can do it manually to avoid waiting.
A deodex stock ROM would be great. I don't have time nor build environment to make my own
