Defrag app for ext sd card mp4 files Diskdigger pro? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Would be interesting to see an app that would or can defrag ext sd card mp4 files.
Reason I say is cause diskdigger pro recovery frags the larger recovered mp4 files that are recovered from being accidentally deleted.

Android doesn't need a defrag, they are only for windows os...

Your not neccesarily understanding my thought...
I mean the app diskdigger pro Version
Can and will recover any deleted mp4 jpg or png file
When it restores the larger mp4 files it Tells you immediately before you save them to the new chosen directory that some of your mp4 /video files may be fragmented upon restore due to being larger files.
So if they restore to your external sd all fragmented ..might there be an app that can scan them and defrag them once more so they play fine as they once did .

Here is a illustration of what I mean
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app

You're not understanding the message correctly.
It's implying that the file you're recovering is large and was likely fragmented when it was deleted.
Since being deleted, the fragmented parts of the original may have been overwritten already which would make a successful recovery unlikely.
eg. A file is fragmented into three parts (1,2,3). File is deleted and location of fragment 2 is overwritten with other data - recovery only has parts 1 and 3 of the original file meaning recovery is not successful.

So in essence that would make the option for mp4 recovery useless moreless for that part of the apps supossed function. .. which is one reason necessary to upgrade and pay for the pro version..to enable mp4 recovery.... where the end result is that it cant do something it claims too.

Might there be any other sophisticated apps that can perform a mp4 recover better than one that Trys but fails. .. What about even if you mount the ext sd to a pc and run a windows program

You could try Recuva by Piriform. It's a Windows app, free, and every bit as good as any other data recovery software.
Good luck.

I believe the diskcacheindex files can just be erased. Do you have journaling on by any chance?

Anything cache-related is used to avoid buffering during real-time program execution. I know, a bunch of gibberish. But a great example is Gallery. By building a cache of the pictures, it can provide more instant thumbnails, rather than re-scanning and generating them each time the app is launched.
The simple answer is that virtually anything on the SD card can be manually deleted with any file explorer or through your computer. Cache files can manually be cleared for any app. But note, cache files will simply re-build each time apps are run.
If there's more you're asking about, feel free to elaborate.
Try sd maid. Its free in the market

Horn by Zynga won't play.

Tried to download the game Horn but to no avail. It tells me that my 16GB external SD card is full, even though its completely empty. Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it?
I'm running lightROM v0.4. I had my friend look at it and he copied the files over, but it still says it full, even with all the game files there.

Its probably trying to put it on the internal storage... link the files with a symlink to the "sdcard" from the external SD which is the inbuilt storage and your 16 gig respectively.

May I suggest a 3rd party app called "link2sd". Its pretty simple to use and u can do a lot with it. The only thing u need to do is read the instructions of the app, that state u must have a second partition on ur sd card, and boom, u have secondary storage on ur phone, and now I can play me some ME Inflitrator, Madden 12, etc.

[Root] App2SD change external to internal.

Not sure if this has been posted yet here but this is how you make you external become your internal and have everything save to it.

Ok found one issue with this. When taking a picture the image won't save. When you click on gallery it just disappears, unless you took a burst shot. I don't know if this was just my device or what

Never mind I'm just dumb. Once you switch your hd you need to go to camera, settings, storage, click on it if it's greyed out, set storage to phone and it should work.

When I added my sd card, I went to storage and switched it to the SD card and all pics I take get saved to the SD card except Burst Shot images.
When I go to the gallery, I can see all pics in one place - whether its on the SD card or Internal storage. This is how its supposed to work.
Yea but I made it so my sdcard reads as my internal so anything that is saved even apps goes to my 64gb instead of 16gb internal. So things run a little different

I just used Titanium Backup to move the apps I wanted moved. I tried the Apps2SD app in the market but it wouldnt move some apps
This is not apps2sd app this actually makes your external storage your main storage.

Guys if you want to revert changes, do you just copy the folders and files back to the main card and not run the script any more at boot? (of course, just whatever fits in 16Gb that is)
Or will I have to flash a ROM again just to make sure things are not messed up?
i activated the script and just tried installing a game from google play.. it still went to my internal card, not the external card.
Didnt work for me either. I can open all aps. I was expecting then to crash since the sdcard was empty. Darn it I want this to work
Sent from the Mighty Galaxy Note 2!
You don't have to flash a Rom for this just follow the directions by going into the app you downloaded open the script and turn on su and boot and save to turn it on. To turn it off turn su and boot off and save. Each time power off your device completely to reset changes.

Remember it should say your external is now your internal. So if it's going to the new internal that's good

You're rooted correct?
If so make sure you download script manager, download the apps2sd script, open in script manager, turn on su and boot, save, power off device and turn it back on.

That is what I am doing. The internal is still 16Gb sadly.
I am running CleanRom with Perseus kernel btw
My apps switched when I changed it and I had to download patches when entering the app again. Also lost my sounds/have to change them. I'm running multi Window mod.
Not sure what's happening on your end. If you go to the link you can post on the topic or email the moderator, he's usually pretty helpful.

Accidental memory wipe please help!

I was using Astro file manager to clear some space on my phone, and noticed that I had a folder called emulated on there that had all the same files, figuring that was what was taking up so much space I deleted it. Now all my files are gone from sddisk0 too! Is there any way to reverse a mass delete like this??

Maybe try connecting to a PC (or Mac) and running an undelete prog. or check to see if there is an undelete app out their.

The apps you are trying to use wont work as the phones internal sd is MTP and cannot be mounted as a disk. THIS HERE is your only option. Its a pain in the ass but youll get all your stuff back provided you havent been using the phone heavily overwriting the stuff u want to recover. Used this on two GS3's, a Galaxy Nexus and my Note II. Flawless if you follow the instructions

Directory Bind on Note 2?

Hello, can anyone explain to me how Directory Bind app actually works? In fact, in the app, I have no idea of why the default source directory is always the external SD card (instead of the internal SD by logic). Also, have anyone here actually get this app work on Note 2 since all the videos of demonstration of the app I saw online were done on those very old Gingerbread phones.

It works fine on the note 2. There is a really good tutorial in the note2 general section somewhere. Thats what I used. I'd probably recommend folder mount though as that will work on 4.2 and 4.3 whereas directory bind doesn't if I remember correctly
Sent from my GT-N7105 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes..directory bind did not work on 4.3. You can use folder mount if you're on 4.3.

Nope, it works just fine on 4.1.2. It maps folder on EXT SD to INT SD. So source is a folder on EXT SD and when you map it, OS sees it as INTernal... pretty simple.

I downloaded it but even when I selected the bind, it basically just moved everything from the source folder to the destination folder and emptied the source folder. However, the new files that suppose to go to the selected folder on the extsd also went to the int SD. Therefore, there is still something in the SD. Why?

It basically tricked your system to make it looks like the files in in internal sd, where they are actually in external sd.
Try unbind it, you can see that the folder in internal sd is actually empty.

However, do I always need to reserve about 2GB for the internal SD in order for the system to run those big apps since every time I bind the directory, it will think that 2GB is occupied?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
And will the program only mount the apps only when I launched it ? Since if those apps were always mount go the folder, the system would always think that they are in the internal SD and occupy space.

Nope. You can check your internal sd storage space in setting/storage..it will stay the same when you bind or unbind.
