Hello, in case you haven't done so yet.... you may root with Kingo Android Root or Ishauji. I used Kingo and it worked. The steps are quite easy to follow. Just search for it online, download, read carefully and follow the steps. Best wishes.
Please note that rooting voids your phone's warranty, but if like me you are willing to take the risk then go for it.
I rooted then unrooted to get back the Playstore app as I had deleted it after rooting but now my phone is stuck in bootloop so please be careful about unrooting. I'm not sure if you would have the same problem. I'm still searching for a solution.

[Q] help with root for HTC Desire HD (android 2.3.5 / software 3.13.415.2)

hello …... can i ask some noob questions ….. cause this thread one of the best and most organized one’s ….i’m not expert in modifying android …. but i need to root my device because some apps won’t work without it …......
i read a lot about the root thing and it was confusing ..
so i downloaded the aahk kit and read the Effen Manual ( i found that you really hate those who start the process without reading the instructions > so i did my homework and studied the manual ))))
but still have some question that need to be answered before i start …
my device is not rooted before ….i bought with the original OS and updated to GB after one day .. and couple weaks ago i recieved the new 2.3.5 with sense 3.0 .. OTA.......
i understood that the root thing doesn’t erase any data in your device (contacts, music, pics,or apps ))......but when i read the effen manual i found this in (imported version notes ) If you are running one of the following Sense 3 build versions a full downgrade is required, which means your data WILL be lost ….
one of them is : HTC Arabic 3.13.415.2 downgrades to HTC ARABIC GB 2.42.415.1
my version ….. is 3.13.415.2
(1) so that mean i will lose everything ????
(2) after downgrade to GB2.42.415.1 and finishing the root …. what version will i have the 2.42.415.1 or the 3.13.415.2........
(3) will the android 2.3.5 and sense 3.0 remain without change or will it change to previous version ….
(4) at last … if i want to return the device back to the original condition can i ?? if yes it will return to 3.13.415.2 a previous one >>> and it will return to android 3.3.5 with sense 3.0 or previous one …...and if it will return to a previous one will i be able to update it to 2.3.5 with sense 3.0 through the regular way ( through setting>about phone>software updates ) or will i have to do it manually …...
one more thing if used unofficial rom (cayoon …. etc ) then decided to return to my original rom ...can i ???
sorry to bother you with my noob questions ...but i will be more than pleased if you helped me out …. cause i really found your thread pretty use full , organized and cleared …

AFAIK, there is no way to root firmware 3.13 (correct me if I'm wrong). In order to root it, you must downgrade your device in a lower version that has the root exploit.
To answer your questions:
(1) so that mean i will lose everything ???? - Yes since you are downgrading your device, all data will be erased.
(2) after downgrade to GB2.42.415.1 and finishing the root …. what version will i have the 2.42.415.1 or the 3.13.415.2........ - It will be 2.42.415.1 since you downgrade your device to this version.
(3) will the android 2.3.5 and sense 3.0 remain without change or will it change to previous version …. - It will be changed the version which firmware 2.42.415.1 has. If you want to get Sense 3.0 and android 2.3.5 again, you will then have to flash a new ROM on your device that has Sense 3.0 and Android 2.3.5
(4) if you want to go back to stock after rooting, you can download a RUU with the build/firmware number you want to go back with then flash it on your phone then everything will be back on stock.
thank you very much for the explication ......
do you advice me to go through all this ....i need the root and i don't want to stuck with old version which mean i have to flash custom room .....and i'm beginner at this things ..and it will be my first time to root and flash rom...??????

It is up to you bro . If you are not satisfied with the stock ROM and you want to do other things that require Root access then go ahead. If you are satisfied enough with the stock, I suggest do not.
If you decide to continue rooting it, my advice is to be very careful. Though most of the people here on XDA successfully rooted their devices, there is still a chance to brick your device if you not follow the correct procedures. Read and follow the instructions step by step so you wont brick your phone.
By the way, if your DHD still has warranty, you will be losing it if you root. So think first if you want root or not. Its your device anyways

Bro I advise you to try HTC supertool... It can root ur sense 3 without downgrade... Try... Also there are fewer instructions to follow... Not that never-ending effen manual.... Just search xda for HTC supertool...

[Q] How to root and flash HTC Desire HD

Hi,
I have a HTC Desire HD which I would like to root and flash with new software, as HTC is not providing the newest available software versions for download.
I have searched a lot on the forum, and also found several forum articles, but I am new to performing these steps for root and flash, so I am looking for a more detailed step by step guide... as it seems to be easy to forget something, when looking at all the information on for example this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231450
I have been told by an experienced developer that I need to do this:
1. Root S-Off + Eng SOff
2. Then install ROM Manager - and install all from there
But I have no clue how to do this root and steps for the rest as well.
I think that I would like to try this flash = BinDroid RUNMED2.5 V1.6 FINAL
from this link = http://xda.bindroid.com/custom-rom/runmed25.html
But how I root the phone and what else steps I need to do in what order is difficult to understand from the example link mentioned.
Are anyone of you able to provide me with a NOOB instruction step by step guide which explain in detail step 1, step 2, step 3 etc. - as I am afraid to destroy / crash my phone if I do not do it the exact correct way?!
Thanks a million in advance for your help!
Cheers,
Osukido
Read this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25497205
Edit: use the ace hack kit to root your phone.
But before you try to root, read the effin manual 20 times - seriously. Once you are done reading it, read it a few more times. Seriously.
Then you can perform the steps in the link.

DON'T FLASH ENG S-OFF, if your phone was shipped with gingerbread. You will mess the bootloader. You don't need it anyway....for rooting and S-OFF use the Hack Kit, that is the only game in town...

Hi All,
I read the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=25497205 - but it explain what to do with a rooted phone.
Mine is not rooted yet, and the steps are not NOOB enough for me, and I cannot find link to the effin manual or step by step how to root and flash.
Is both the "BinDroid RUNMED2.5 V1.6 FINAL" - and Kernel download files from this link needed - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231450 - or where do I find detailed step by step instructions.
I saw this description = "Perfect instructions are in the first post of the ROM thread"... but I do not know which post is the first in which ROM thread etc.
See... I am a clear NOOB, and need very detailed description on where to find information. Sorry mates.
Cheers,
Osukido
By the way - then my HTC Desire HD has these specs:

HTC-Sence 3.0
Software number 3.12.405.1
Kernel system 2.6.35.10-g931a37e [email protected] #1
Baseband version 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M
Versionnumber 3.12.405.1 CL199157 release-keys
Browser version WebKit/533.1
Thanks in advance.

First, before you root your phone read and then read again. If you can't find the first post, well.... It's hard to put it nicely.
The first post of a thread will be the 1st post
It is the first page of a thread.
To root, use the ace advanced kit (which has a manual that explains how to use it called "the effin manual). It is easy to use, but at the same time you need to understand it. It was designed to make you get accostumed to reading. You will find almost any question you have right here on xda. It will be easier to search for a question using your computer instead of the xda app on your phone.
If this is still too difficult, ask a friend to help you - two heads are better than one.
One more thing. DO NOT FLASH A ROM FROM A DIFFERENT PHONE. STAY IN THE DESIRE HD FORUM.
There are a few roms where you need to install the previous version before installing the latest version.
Your first link took me no where.
You do not need those scripts. You can use them if you want.
Sorry if this is confusing, just woke up from a nap after a long night of drinking
