So I installed Kit Kat using this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527142
Now I got an update notification for another Android 4.4 but the file size is much smaller at 9.0MB. What is it and should I install it? I lost use of my phone by installing the initial Kit Kat while rooted and unlocked with TWRP recovery. I haven't added back TWRP recovery yet as I'm still a little nervous after the install.

Hello,
So I recently had my SGS3 rooted until I stupidly installed the OTA update that Att released. Everything was good, but now my phone was unrooted and I was unable to reroot using conventional rooting methods. Now, I figured that it would be good to install a custom ROM in order to re root my phone and put jelly bean on it. However, when I went into the Clockwork mod recovery, it gave me a status 7 error while trying to install the latest nightly build of CyanogenMod 10. I also cleared out all the caches and did a factory reset. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
Thank you very much for your help!

Download the file below file to your S3 and install it via Mobile Odin to get CWM back.
Well, from what I read, you aren't rooted anymore.

If I recall correctly, Status 7 means you have an older/not-supported version of CWM installed. Your best bet is going to be to download the Samsung Galaxy S3 QCom ToolKit, and use that to install the proper CWM version. Then you will be able to wipe/install a custom ROM.
Hello, I moved onto a Note 3 but I recently took my VZW Galaxy Nexus out of the drawer it was in and I am going to use it as a secondary device at home on wifi only.
I'm rooted and running a 4.2.2 ROM, can I simply flash a Kit Kat ROM?
On the Note 3 there was a very specific process to upgrade involving flashing firmware update in odin.
Is anything like that required here or can I just flash a KK ROM like any other ROM?
Thanks in advance for the help. I feel like I should know this but when I went from ISC to JR back in the day, I took the VZW update and just maintained root with supersu pro.

Make sure you have the latest recovery twrp or cwm. Also make sure to use kitkat gapps. Everything thing will just work like normal as far as installing.
Thanks much. I was hoping it'd be this easy.
So I just got 1 of these babies and I'm super excited. I'm not new to android at all. I have a nexus 5 and I'm very familiar with unlocking, flashing a custom recovery, and loading up ROMs. In my excitement however, I may have made a small mistake and I'm looking for feedback.
So, when I booted it up for the very first time, I got the prompt to update to 4.4.4. I thought, "meh, I'll just root it and then install a 4.4.4 ROM--problem solved.". What I may have looked past accidentally is that on the nexus 5, upgrading to 4.4.4 included an update to the bootloader and that simply flashing a 4.4.4 ROM would NOT include. So, now I'm wondering, should I have gone up to 4.4.4 b4 rooting and installing twrp?
Will flashing a 4.4.4 ROM bring all aspects of my nexus 7 up to date, or do I need to go back to stock, update to 4.4.4, and THEN re-root, etc?
Alternatively, if it's just a radio update, can I just flash that? Any input would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
OMG! TWRP is A-FREAKIN-MAZING! I went ahead and tried to update even tho I had TWRP installed. I guess, since Im still on stock ROM, it actually updated flawlessly! You DEVS are great. Thank you sooooo much!
Delete thread, I guess.
I went from rooted 4.4.3 and updated to an official 4.4.4. Root was lost so I just used towelroot and installed the SuperSU apk from the flashable SuperSU zip and it worked out flawlessly.

You can update OTA if you want. Or you can flash the stock ROM. It doesn't matter.
Do yourself a huge favor and download the Nexus Root Toolkit from XDA. Its very easy to use and it will flash stock if you need to do that... It will also root and install TWRP with almost no intervention on your part. Regardless of the state of the tablet, you can always go back to unroofed stock of any version with the toolkit.

You lose root after updating, but you can just root again.
i like to update to the recent lollipop version but how can I do that (if possible) , not doing it over the Air and not using a connection with usb-cable ( is not working anymore with my nexus 7) to laptop or pc?
Is your Nexus 7 rooted? Do you have a custom recovery?
Yes is rooted
Yes is rooted, don't have custom ron
Since you're rooted, you could install the Flashify app (free) and flash TWRP. **Edit: you also need an unlocked boot loader.** Then make a backup of your current system. If you already have the new bootloader, you could flash Scrosler's rooted stock 5.0.2 ROM (of course here in XDA.) If you don't have the new bootloader, there are flashable zips here in XDA. Note: make sure it's flashable via custom recovery. GROGG88 has posts with the new b/l zip flashable in TWRP.
error while updating to lollipop (OTA) 5.0.2
now i get OTA lollipop update on my nexus 7 and it downloads (is only 389.2 MB), i think i read somewhere it should be around 500 MB).
It restarts and starts installing the update and then i get and error with the little green android guy and an open hatch at his body with an red exclaimation mark on it. I have done a factory reset as well get the update again but also the error again., It is not updating and reboots after a while and goes back to kitkat 4.4.4. Something is definitely wrong here, can you help me out what do I do who do i have to report this... i never got the lollipop update 5.0 or 5.0.1 either.
Hi. I have an AT&T LG Gpad 7 that I downgraded to 4.4 to root using a thread from XDA and then tried out Candyrom and CM12 and CM13.
I need to return this device to stock condition.
I followed another thread contained within XDA but no matter what I do, I cannot use OTA to get back to stock lollipop.
Here is what I did:
Installed stock test KDZ using LG Flash Tool2014
Rooted via one click
Fixed partition size
Installed flashily
Installed TWRP via flashily
Installed stock 4.4 rooted rom from XDA
Flashed stock recovery from XDA
When I did this. I still have the white line distortion and OTA updates do not work. Any ideas? I wish I could just get the real KDZ for the AT&T V410 LTE 16gb!
