My personal experience. My note 2 got weird behavior started last week, no root and most updated tmobile. Turn on CPU load and I found sdcard process is keeping running all the time. And I could not correctly show note 2 storage detail, in the setting. It always show calculating, or could not show internal storage at all. After reset the phone from "Backup and reset", and reinstall everything, problem still the same. I trid factory reset from reboot into "BIOS" mode, reinstall everything again, the problem was gone. My theory is the internal flash got some error and need to format again to clear. FYI.

Back up everything you have in your SD card.
I had that same symptom once. After a few reboot I lost the SD card. It became unreadable/unformatted.
So, just in case. Back up your data first.

Cheers, done a bit more digging and its an issue for quite a lot of people. Backed up the card and using the standard 8gb that came with the phone. Ordered a new one too from play.com, as they are in the sale

I had the same problem unexpectedly too the other night. I took the SD card and via a usb adaptor I connected it to my Windows 7 computer. A window popped up asking if I want to scan and fix for errors or continue without scanning. I usually just continued without scanning when connecting my phone directly but this time I let it scan and fix. Low and behold once it finished the scan I tried it again in my phone and it mounted successfully. Ever since then I've had no further problems since either.

This happened to my 16gb mmc. Went on for a couple of months. I ignored it and mounted it manually. It died a couple weeks ago. I had no back up. Devo

Yup, same happened to me, lost everything on the memory card (though I had backups of the important stuff)
Same Problem
Guys i have been experiencing the same problem for some days now.
Found this post here; Was thinking the problem has been solved over here, but you all are reporting your problem.
Any there anyway this problem can be fixed or as most of you mention. The lifespan of the card is getting close.
Or I should just prepare for a new sd card (which am not ready for now).
My Case here is kindda different because when i boot into recovery, the sd card shows up and works fine.
when i boot into android then it cant be found.
???
i have same problem with android 4.0.4 and sense 4+
i must be reset my phonee
my phone is HTC Desire 268. now for a little while my sd card did have a problem when i first brought it but it was fine afterwords but today after I restarted my phone, my phone again is getting problem with sd card the sd card mounts for a little time than it unmount ( giving the status "SD card unexpectedly removed"), then mount it self again and unmounts itself again. this happens 3 to 4 times before it competently unmounts and never mounts until i remove and add the sd card again and the cycle countinues. please can you help me.??
Hello,
I recentply purchased a Galaxy Note 2, it's the GT-N7100 model. I got a 32GB SD card for it, and ever since I inserted that memory card for the frist time, it would always download game data in the card, not in the phone memory. Examples: Modern Combat 3, N.O.V.A. 3, NFS Most Wanted. I had about 10 gigs of "data" and "obb" folders in my memory card. This was all fine, as it kept the phone memory almoust empty.
However, since this morning, when I lauched any of those games they would ask me to download data again, and this time it all goes to the phone memory! I tried formatting the SD Card, Rebooted the phone, deleted app data for those games, reinstalled them, but this didn't fix it. I did a factory setting reset (completely wiping the phone) - still no luck. What might have happened to my phone?
For me I was never able to dl game data to sdcard some day one using gn2..

I was never able to download any app data to sd card since day one. I've been manually transferring downloads (sadly) ) to my sd card. And I ended up only transferring media files and left app files alone

This is so strange, never heard of someone reporting games data dowloading directly onto an external memory. Did you initially install a mod to make your phone see the SD card as an internal memory?
Sent from the Rabbit Hole
Never heard of such a thing. Data is always saved inside the internal SD, not to the external SD, not unless you rooted and performed the apps2sd mod.
I do not remember what I did... I was playing around with apps that were supposed to transfer apps to the sd card, but with no success. Then it just started doing it on it's own. I am rooted and using stock ROM, if this matters. If I had installed a mod, I must have done so without even knowing about it (lol). It's just really weird, as all over the internet people say that you can't do this, and I have seen my phone doing it.
Anyway, since I can't figure out how to make that work, can you suggest a good app for transferring games to the SD card. I tries GL 2 SD, which works(!) but I can only play the games if I start them from within this app. And since I am kind of OCD, this doesn't work for me, I need to be able to start them from the normal icon on the home screen.
Thank you all for replying.
Not planning on a root yet.
Will the next Android OS update be able to support app transfer to SD card?
I haven't changed any settings since my last backup so I dunno what it could be. Anyhow I booted into recovery and went straight to backup, but it keeps telling me "backup failed" about a milisecond after I swipe it. So I rebooted my phone and tried again, same thing
Any ideas?

It may be your storage is too full, back it up on your ext sd card.

Or an SD card Failure in the making.
you may want to try another card....g
If you haven't already, try reinstalling the latest TWRP.
Ok I deleted a couple nands (i only had 3) and it let me backup. I don't understand, my ext sd still had 10 gigs of space available???

Maybe time to copy them off to PC and clean the card with a fresh format ??
Odd behavior. ..
3 nands is pretty small. ...IMHO. ...g
I got problem with external sd card.
I tried deleting every data and it gets deleted from sd card and it just appears again after reboot and unmounting & mounting card again.
Same thing happens with copying files,I copy the files and they get copied also but doesn't really reappear after reboot.I tried formating sd card from device recovery and pc and it gets formated but data reappear.Tried coping files from pc but it gives me error but data gets copied from sd card.
What's the problem I pretty much tried formating with partition manager also.
Can anyone help me

The day I got my 2014 Note, I put a "Team" MicroHD card in it. The device worked fine, but a reboot got it stuck at the Samsung Logo. I played around with it and somehow it booted and I didn't think about it again till yesterday, now some months later. I just figured it was new and "glitched".
Yesterday, I did a reboot and once again stuck at the Samsung logo. I could get into recovery and Download easily. I am not rooted, all stock.
I finally saw something about SD cards, pulled my card and it rebooted. Then I restarted again, no problems.
Put he card back in and stuck at boot Logo, regular as clockwork.
so some questions:
1) Can I just pull the data off and put on a new card and everything will work fine on it? I had moved a lot of programs to the SD card.
2) Should I move the data to the device and onto the new card? I'm worried about symbolic links and such. I don't know if pulling off to a windows machine would screw up permissions and what not. Maybe that doen't matter on the card since it is FAT32 anyhow?
3) This card "works" fine once the system is up and it is inserted, anyway to fix that do you think?

Try downloading sd booster, and select your internal memory at boot up

I'm not following ya here, can you elaborate on why this would work?
EDIT: Just noticed it needs ROOT to run
Well, I'm in a much different place now.
I rooted and installed TWRP.
The SD Booster didn't help.
No matter what I did, there was one gig of data that was on the card that the OS didn't "see" properly.
This data was the data put there by the OS when I went thru and did a lot of "Move to SD Card" actions. I could see the files in Windows but not in Android by any of the Rooted FileManagers.
So I went into TWRP and wiped that disk and Formatted it. Now the system will boot with the card in and I did a Nandroid backup in TWRP to make sure it was working OK and booted with Data on it.

I had the same problem, my n understanding is when it boots up for some reason the tablet looks for its system files on the wrong memory , I.e the sd card . It doesn't find it but keeps trying therefore stuck on a loop. I downloaded sd boosted, put the cache up and selected the option for the internal memory to be used at boot

Yeah, I had tried that with no luck. I think it may have been moving a lot to the SD card thru the manage apps aplet.

What size is this card and what file system format did you use? Can you also tell us what class the card is also.

it is 64gb and class 10.
I just formatted it in TWRP
I'd say check if it's the same with a different sd card, think generally SanDisk or samsung are the best to use
