[Discussion] Review your rom - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 General

Note : This is not a "best rom" thread
Mods, I f you find this against rules, close it
....
I made this thread to be a refrence for people before installing specific rom, and instead of reading many posts in the rom thread, read a review or 2 here and decide. And Also to stop the best rom threads and help confused users.
How to post a review?
1) rom
2) kernel
3) any additional tweaks you installed
4) your review about the rom, mention bugs, good things, laggy apps, theme....etc
"Just post reviews only please and make this thread clean"

Rom : jb experience special edition 2 [cm7.2]
Kernel : percy cm#2
Tweaks : N/A
The rom is pretty cool, theming is the most similar to holo interface, it is quite fast and not bad in daily use, ram consumption is pretty good, I liked the theming but the setting's background is too much black. Sometimes it lag while scrollin. In my opinion the fastest cm7 rom I have ever tried and makes you almost belive you are using a cm10 rom

ROM : MiniROM touchwiz UX
Kernel : javris v2.1 #22
Tweaks : adrenaline engine 4.5
I loved this rom becuase it offers a real touchwiz 5 interface, every single detail is themed like TW5 , the developer didnt miss any thing. I didint like the boot animation * samsung logo then a pink flowers *
The rom is laggy sometimes and takes too much time after boot to stabilize..the rom doesn't support arabic by default so you have to flash Arabic language pack. I think if you are tired of holo themes or a fan of tw5 this rom is cool for you
In performance it is pretty fast but some apps like instagram lags too much.
On a scale from 1 to 10 I give it 8

Rom : Stock Rom
Kernal : Savie kernal
Tweak : adrenaline 4.4 n sgy tweak n buildworking
Nothing can beat the Speed.... I have installed nearly 50 apps n still have d speed
Sanju Joseph

MiniROM Touchwiz UI
Kernel: WhiteXP 1.3.3
The rom is fast and looks like Samsungs Touchwiz.
I haven't tried any tweaks yet.
Most of the google apps and framework is missing.
9/10

[Q] help with choosing a ROM

I am trying to find a perfect ROM for my needs so tried almost every type of ROM out there. I think Sense Based ROM-s suite me best, I love sense 3/3.5 based ones, but they usually run really awful due to lack of RAM I hate how Rosie gets killed and when I exit the app I have to wait for it to load.
Is there a way to make rosie be always in memory ? or at least make sense 3.0 ROMs work normal-ish on Desire Z ? Swapping didn't help.
If that doesn't work I think I'll have to stop with sense 2.0.
Which Sense 2.0 ROM is best ?
so I need
- good amount of free RAM
- good battery life
- sense 3.0 style lockscreen
- any kind of power widget/ quick setting in notification menu
- battery showing in percents
thanks in advance for help
I spent a good deal of time flashing several different Sense based ROMs and always ended up being frustrated with lags and soft reboots.
I'm now running a setup with CM7, Widget Locker which gives you a variety of choices for lock screen style (including Sense 3.0-like) and GO Dialer/Contacts EX with its smart dial functionality.
I must say that I miss the smooth camera app included in Sense but other than that Widget Locker and GO Dialer/Contacts EX fills in the blanks for me.
I think your best options are to either go with Virtuous Sense 2.0.0 or an AOSP based ROM and style it to your liking
Last link is the smoothest ICS skin I have seen.

Or you can also try running v6 supercharger ( there's a guide in general ) it helps a LOT
stop using htc sense
i got error :cannot stat 'psneuter': No such file or directory while downgrading
help please
whpsnp thank you for your post, but I have tried CM and I didn't like it that much I really like great fb intergration in Sense and amazing stock calendar. But thanks for reply.
noneabove can you give me a link couldn't find a guide. But I did find what supercharger is and I still don't think it's gonna make sense 3.0 roms usable, but it can make sense 2.0 roms a lot better, so I'll appreciate a link.
epic-tim dude are you an idiot ? your question isn't even relevant to discussion here, use search or open a new thread.
I think I found my solution.
I used Virtuous Sense 2.0 ROM and modified it with
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201255
for battery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1210760
for notification togglers
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062962
for lockscreen
but still I'll be happy to hear any other ideas
You can use the Energized or beatmod sense ROMs, they are very smooth and fast on our phones, even without swap. You can use the v6 supercharger script just to make sure it runs even better. These 2 roms are the only sensible sense 3.x options for our DZ. Other sense roms are laggy and not very optimized for our phone. Best of luck
If you want sense then I would highly recommend Virtuous Affinity. It is available in the dev thread here.
It is the most usable/smooth sense rom that still has all the features enabled. No sense rom is every going to be as fast and smooth as CM but with a little work affinity is pretty close.
I would recommend using 4ext rather than cwm. 4ext has the option to reformat your partitions as ext4.
You should also enable a swap partition. Affinity with swap enabled will have a decent amount of free ram.
Also reduce the number of home screens. I use 3 screens. That helps keep rosie smooth.
The v6 script will help too.
With virtuou you cannot use any overclocking app other than OC/UV beater 2. Any other will kill the virtuous oc daemon.
With all of the above you will have a very good sense 3.5 experience. In my opinion the best possible sense experience on this handset.

[Q] How to make Desire HD faster ?

Hi ,
I have a question . How Can i make my dhd faster ? The game order and Chaos is laggy :-(
How Can i pimp it to 1,5ghz ?
Flash a good rom. The rom make a huge difference. Try Miui or cyanogemod. But the best thing are the new ics roms, that are the fastest at the moment.
Try revolution HD 7.4, its gb and very fast, can clock to 2 gig (I wouldn't though) I usually sit somewhere between 1.1 and 1.5, runs soooo fast, ics roms can be a little laggy with some games at this stage.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
And a lot of the ics rooms have camera issues...
Sent from my MZ601 using Tapatalk 2
Lord clockan's ICS is the best out there if you just want to do gaming due to the latest libs and structure but if you're concerned about camera and all that then you should get a non sense GB rom because sense GB roms take up a lot of memory, causing force closes
Try to use a rom for DHD And Not Ported from other phone and usually try a light one like cm7 or miui even ics rom are very good but lack the camcorder i would suggest AOSP

The fastest Rom is cm7 for me, and more beauty and useful are ARHD and xxxPacha s3.5 like s4.0.
Or you can use -
Check out "AnTuTu CPU Master (Free)" - https : //play.google. com/store/apps/details?id=com.antutu.CpuMasterFree

flash CyanogenMod rom
For GB AOSP , try BlackICE ROM.
For ICS, only tried Lord's AOKP ROM.
Issues with games on ICS ROM if any might be down mainly into 2 possibilities. Either it's the ROM or the game/app not compatible with ICS itself.

you could install miui 2.4.20 (its gingerbread 2.3.7) very stable, you could add a lordmod kernel 8.6 CFS,
depending on your battery needs , you could set up the governer to performance, would give great performance but more battery drain.
Firstly, make sure the ROM you have installed onto your phone is not bloated with loads of crap and has a good kernel and libraries. Cyanogenmod 7.x is a good Gingerbread ROM to have installed, which has the bonus of being widely supported. If you are feeling more adventurous you can try MIUI or an Android 4.x ROM.
After you have a good ROM installed, you can then play around with overclocking tools. Note the ramifications of overclocking and how it works should be understood before doing this, otherwise you can shorten the life of your CPU etc.
Doing some research on Google and these forums is the biggest hint I can give you. Knowledge in anything technology related is a useful tool indeed when it comes to getting the best out of your computers and devices.
use a program caled 'System App Remover' to remove programs you do not need as they severely bloat the phone full of junk, which will slow it down, but obviuously, be careful what you are deleting etc.
For me, just a very small list of what I remove, as I do not use the apps are:
Facebook + any facebook widgets
Twitter + and Twitter widgets
Live wallpaper + Live wallpaper picker
Shelf Widget
Bookmarks Widget
Weather Widget
.....and LOADS more, that I personally have zero use for.
This, plus overclocking the CPU by a small amount...1.2-1.3Ghz makes the phone FLY, no matter what Rom I use.

Best Combination

Hello
this is only a tip from me.
i tried many firmware´s.
But the best combination for me is Following.
1. Install This Firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587888
2. Install this Kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646883
3. Install This Rosie
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1656201
This combination works perfectly.
Show the Installation Notes
thx all developers
Running any kernel without S2W is pretty stable atm and yes so far the Franco kernel seems to be the best.
The Roms are more of user preference, I prefer the more ASOP styled ROMS as I don't want all the sense rubbish eating my RAM, even the sense skins on the menus i don't like, ASOP is nice and minimal.
All of the ROMS that are in the first page results in development are nice and stable, as for rosie I can't say.
I think the ICS launcher is horrific and all the ICS styled launchers i don't bother with because I dont like the asthetics.
The best combination so far

[Q] Fast, smooth ROM

Hi,
I'm looking for fast and smooth ROM. I've already looked into development section and I was interested by Crane ROM and Enhanced. Do you have experiences with these two ROMs? Which one is better? Which from these uses less RAM memory?
Special question? Have these ROMs Czech language (I mean Czech localization and QWERTZ keyboard?)
Thanks for any answers.
I think the Adrenaline Rom from voetbalremco is the smoothest and fastest.
choice rappooks
I've tried DroidGIO v1. Worked like a charm. V2 seems not to be so smooth for me.
Stock based ROM : Adrenaline (Enhanced236 is my second choice)
CM7 based ROM : Phiexz 7.2 latest nightly
CM9 / CM10 based ROM are not yet fully usable daily IMHO.
go for Droidgio V2.2, its the best cm7 based rom out there
I've made a switch from Phiexz to DroidGio, the last one is even better.:good:
movfan & phurya :
I haven't tested this ROM (neither v1 nor v2).
Could you explain in a few words what is better in DroidGio than in Phiexz ?
By the way I don't think battery or stability could be better, because they are already perfect in Phiexz.
Functionalities I guess ... ?
Tks ;o)

When i was on vacation, the last Phiexz rom became unstable.
Now i've already used the xperia launcher, so it was the obvious choice changing to Droidgio.
The previous roms had some errors, but they were all removed, and now its error free.
Now i must say that i'm not a power user, but for me the rom is more responsive, and the battery is even better.
Give it a try, you can always switch back if you don't like it.
I will flash Phiexz CM 7.2. Thanks a lot guys
Just tested DroidGio 2.2 ...
This ROM cannot be compared to Adrenaline or Phiexz as far as smoothness is concerned.
After 10mn playing around, I have to switch back.
In addition, there are some bugs (among others, in Call interface numbers are not aligned with underlying grid, vibrate mode is not retained between reboot, etc ...).
For somebody who wants a bugfree & smooth ROM, DroidGio is not acceptable.

Damn, man!
You found two tiniest bug which you can experience like once in a month, and that means that droidgio isn't smooth and reliable.
I peronally think that droidgio v2.2 is one of the best, and maybe the best cm7 rom.
I don't say that phiexs's and adrenaline are bad, I'm just defending droidgio v2.2 because it's very good rom.
First of all, I didn't make any comment on reliability, because I haven't uses DroidGio 2.2 long enough to make comments on that particular point.
Second, you shouldn't use adjectives like "tiniest" when talking about bugs, because the level of annoyance is always relative to a specific user.
If you read the DEV section, you will find tones of posts about bugs that are considered "tiny" for someone, but "critical" for another ... and vice versa.
After 6 month under Adrenaline I cannot found a single bug (with my own usage).
After 10 minutes under DroidGio I found 2.
It is factual, peoples will judge from their own point of view / usage / expectations / tests.
Concerning smoothness, it could be that I've done something wrong, but I'm pretty comfortable changing ROMs, and I always make all steps to maximize success chances.
Factually again, I can assure you that in my own case, Adrenaline (and Phiexz in a lesser extent) is obviously smoother that DroidGio 2.2 (all things being equals).
Does all of that make DroidGio a bad ROM ?
Certainly not, it's a very good ROM that can be used daily without any problem.
Moreover, it is the last CM7 based ROM that is maintained (as Phiexz has apparently fully switched to CM10), and people looking for a CM7 ROM should definitely give it a try (among others )
Good job!
Thanks for explaining.
Well.... I have also tried a lot of ROMs but Phiexz CM7.2 seems to be right choice by now... (still awaiting for a stable CM9 or CM10)

[discuss] nicest rom

Hi guys and a wanna no what you think is The best rom
So send answers plz
I think cm7, stock or cm10.1 send screenies plz also
For me aokp by erickas is the best.
Lots of options and great performance and smoothness

I am currently using the test build of CM7 with ics layouts and is enough for me till MMB Team releases their next AOSP ICS build
cyantux rom is awesome just try it
AOKP milestone 6 CM9 based is what i used daily now. only a few bugs, never had a random reboot till now.
I am currently developing a stock based ROM (pretty much just tweaking the stock ROM but also changing some interface elements). If you're talking 'nicest' as in best interface, mine won't do (I am doing a Gingerbread X Jellybean X Other style interface). But it is suprisingly fast. If you're interested about my upcoming ROM, you can inbox me a message and I can let you in on some details!
I just tried 1 rom previously (LightOrange), but now I have been testing the official cyanmobile 2.3.8 (build 4) and I am loving it. Satellite fixing is ultra fast, you can customize almost everything, it comes with many choices of unlock screens and call answering interfaces. Smart calling is awesome (if you're messaging someone, or have one of your contacts on screen, just put the phone to your ear and it calls automatically). It comes with an integrated option to force move to SD card. I flashed int2ext4+ script and now I have a "huge" internal memory (1Gb ext4 partition + internal). Together with Adrenaline Engine and chainfire 3D (both not included), this is the best performance I had so far.
There are also some other good ROMs. I heard democracy NT is great. S'periance, Adrenaline ROM, M'Rage. It's a matter of personal choice in the end. Never tried CM9 or CM10, but I think most roms are more unstable or lacking functions and the performance gain, if any, is not that big (correct me if I'm wrong, though ).
I tink best (only bad thing battery goes fast down) rom is cm 10.1 by Old Droid + TouchWiz 4.5 theme from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062676
Gapps from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167627
And theme from google play
Some pics:
Get Equipped With MEGAMAN
the kitheirp
For me the best roms are:
Stock= M'rage Rom what can I say? This rom has everything ! I dont like the orange but still is the best Stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136550
CM7= JellyBread unfortunately its descontinued now, but you can mix the version 2.5 with 3 and have a GREAT rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991020
MIUI= MIUI Gingerbread of Franklin its the only miui that is bugless, if you search the rights themes your phone gonna look beautiful, is not multilanguage, but if you are smart enough (in galaxy ace forum) theres a one that it is, and you can solve the problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863260&highlight=miui
i would also say it's MIUI by Franklin, it has cool UI, also good for gaming unlike the cm10 roms, it has large consumption of RAM so it's not suitable for gaming.
i think aosp is the most stable...that's why i chose aosp ics by MMB
AOKP jb-mr1 by erikcas super smoth and fast no big problems
