[Q] Dumb Ways to Die - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

When I try to install Dumb Ways to Die, it downloads the app, but when it finishes downloading, a notification appears saying:
Unknown error code during application installation: "-24"
Edit: Nevermind, fixed it

With a any file explorer that has root access, you go to /data/data folder, you find the app package of the app you want to install, and you delete it.
I found it here:http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...ror-code-during-application-install-24-a.html

Cannot install system apps

I've spent hours upon hours working on this phone, and i've tried basically every solution I could find:
Below I'll type a more detailed list of troubleshooting i've tried but currently my main issue is that I deleted my systems.apk file, after trying a recovery none of the files in my system/app folder are actually installed and if i try to install them it tells me I can't because they aren't market apps, but because I have no settings menu I can't allow non market apps to be installed. If I can find a way to install non-market apps without selecting the option from the settings menu I might be able to solve this issue.
More information:
This is an "old" phone that i recently turned on to used and found it was full of bloatware, adware apps so I rooted to delete some of it and it seems in the process I managed to delete the settings.apk file. I installed CWM & rom manager, tried to run a recovery through that (Can not run a factory reset because i have no settings menu and the hard reset does not work) and when I booted up my phone, I kept getting an error message that vzw setup wizard stopped unexpectedly, the only option was force close and as soon as I hit it it would come back up. eventually someone texted me and I realized when I had a notification and plugged in my phone I could get to the text message-through the text message menu I added my gmail account, and emailed myself the google play store URL and was able to gain access to the store. Using the store I installed Go Lancher EX and then had an (almost) functioning phone- I have to be careful not to back out of Go launcher or I'll have to send myself an email so I can get back into the store and finally back into go launcher. I had my boyfriend send me the settings.apk file from his phone, and could not copy it into settings/apps because it was read-only, so i tried downloading an app that would allow me to change permissions and realized it would not install any .apk files. I then started selecting some of the apps already in system/apps and none of them are installed- It will not let me install them because they are not technically market apps.
Other things I tried:
SUES: Tells me my phone is up to date and will not do anything more.
PC companion: Tells me there is no software available for my device.
Android commander: Gets stuck on "loading" and won't actually start up.
Flash tool: Tried two different stock ROMS, always gives me this error message: "Sin header verification failed" (Yes, I selected the option to not do a final verification"
How can I force my phone to install the system apps ?

Look for a developer who can make a flashable zip including system.apk and setting.apk for you, then flash it from CWM.

give me the apks and I will make flash able zip or you could use flashtool with a r800x ftf
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
I tried flashing two .ftf files, flashtools gives me the "sin header verification failed" error message. I'm unfamiliar with flashable zips- will that get around my flashtools problem? Should I send you just settings.apk and systemUI.apk?
Thank you !
Edit:
I've done some reading about flashable zips and it seems pretty promising, thank you!
I've attatched a zip file with systemui.apk from my phone and settings.apk from my boyfriends phone- he doesn't have an xperia play, if that makes a difference.
Also, I don't know how much of an effect this would have with flash tools but because I can't get into my settings, I also can't turn on USB debugging.

it is definitely there from what i can tell. It's named update.zip, it was modified today, and it is 614MB
maybe it wont let me grab it because the phone is on? should i power off and grab it via usb cable? currently trying to modify it via Root File Manager App.

Is it giving you any kind of error? Since it's Write only, you'll probably have to change the permissions to be able to copy it from the cache folder. You should be able to do it with Root File Manager. I know I can with Root Explorer.

well root file manager says it was read/write for the owner so i changed the permissions to read/write for all users. then i attempted to rename it to 1update.zip.....and then the file disappeared.

run Triangle away and enable tracking and reboot (if you are already turn off tracking > reboot > turn on tracking > reboot ~ status should be normal now).

i created a 0byte file named update.zip in the cache folder and rebooted, and now it is telling me it is ok to install. (my battle level is below 50% so it wont let me). so i cured the modified error. but the actual download is still MIA. says device status is normal. it was probably kicking that error because it couldnt find the update.zip since i somehow renamed it and it decided to play Where's Waldo.

[Q] Quick Memo Missing

I think I have accidentally removed my Quick Memo app. I just decided I that I want to start using it and i cannot find it. It is not present anywhere in my phone. I decided to do a factory reset,, and it is still not present.
i found APK's for the G2, but no links to get the G3 version. Does anyone have an extracted LG G# qmemo APK?

I also had this problem until i accepted the lg terms of use thing. I was just ignoring it but then i accepted it and after that quickmemo was there
Hi, i just want to retrieve some deleted files in my memo i accidentally deleted it and i dont have a copy of it.
Let me know if it works for you - although I dont see why it wouldn't.
Also, for anyone that wants Capture+/QuickMemo+ - you can just extract this zip and place the folder (with the .Apk inside it) into /system/priv-app. Make sure the LGQuickMemo.apk has the correct permissions (644 - rw- r-- r--).
Reboot and you should now have the option to put QuickMemo+ in your notification drop down - as well as on your second screen.

This app isn't meant to be installed, you have to manually push the apk and its' folder to the proper priv-app folder. Make sure permissions for folder (0755) and for APK (0644) are good. Then Reboot!
You can find it here it's the latest version for LG G3 with Android 6: https://apkdot.com/apk/lg-electroni...0/quickmemo-4-70-17-arm-android-5-0/download/

Thank You.
There is no folder /app_updates. There is just a folder named "files", but this folder is completely empty.
By the way: I got this file structure on my G4: \Android\data\org.lineageos.updater\files.
I had to manually download the package and install it manually in recovery, but the updater says still to update the current version.

If this is reduced to this single folder I can say that my G4 has no folder with this name.
The download completed and the updater asks for updating the unit.
The G4 restarts into recovery mode and nothing happens. Manual search for the downloaded files have not been successful.
I restarted my G4 and searched manually with root rights (just to be sure the files are not hidden in non root search) and I could not find any update file.
The lineage updater still shows to update the phone, even that there whether is a folder named "/data/org.lineageos.updater/app_updates"
nor a file in the "\data\org.lineageos.updater\files.
So... is this an issue with the updater, ROM or is this just not implemented complete?
I have no issues to manually install anything by console or TWRP or what ever else.
Once again: The update file(s) seem to be lost in transit. They are not stored on the system.
The updater still shows the install button even if there is nothing to install.

Are you sure you are looking in the right folder? Your stated path shows :
"\data\org.lineageos.updater"
Was that just a typo?
This where it is in my device:
"/data/data/org.lineageos.updater/app_updates" (note the nested "data" in "data")
Also, I think that if it shows "install" it means that it has been downloaded (and exist), otherwise it would show "download".

Shame on me... I searched with root rights and could not find the folder.... Seems I need new glasses.
But the folder is there and yes, the download is in there.
So single issue is, why the updater does not call the update automatically for flashing the update.

Hmmm... TWRP should be able to handle the script created by the updater. You may want to check on the G4 forum to see if others have the same issue.

the guys in the G4 forum are mostly connected to the unofficial version. a complete manual installation is required.
But there are some rumors in the German forum, who are using the official LineAgeOS version, where the updater script is not working.
I´ll wait for the next update in a week... may be it´s just a minor issue which will be fixed soon.
is it possible to change that path?
The path *HAS* been changed.
It's now downloading OTA updates to /data/lineageos_updates
Which a pain in the ass, because TWRP already doesn't automatically handle the script as expected on my Note3, and, I'd already gotten used to having to go to /data/data/org.lineageos.updates.
