Use SuperSU instead of Kinguser. KingUser seems to have problems with xposed. While you install SuperSU, make sure you dont delete the kinguser, before SuperSU is fully functional (open it up and see if it says anything, give it all the rights it asks for), then disable or delete Kinguser from app settings

Hi,
on my phone runs Superuser v3.1.3 (46) with Su binary v3.1.1 (17)
if i click on update (the same version of binary) i got the most times errors.
- sometimes i dont get root
- when i got root the test of root faild
- the mounting of writeable system fails often
what can i do (i think this is te source of my next problem)
i use ES File Explorer v 1.6.1.8 and i dont get root access (in superuser i see that ES File Explorer have the permission to get root)
i deleted that permission and tried again to get root with ES File Explorer
ES File Explorer show me the dialog (sure you want root ... yes no) but no other question from superuser to granted the root access
EDIT:
Rommanager -> restart in recovery -> info that i got su-rigths but rommanager do nothing -> force close
I need help
EDIT 2:
i tried some older versions of superuser an su-binary but still not working correctly
I dont know why root no more works, it still do this for a long time (1 year)
root checker said "sorry! this device does not have proper root access"
With ES file explorer I have had a similar problem. Clearing data and cache in manage applications fixed it for me. Not sure it is going to work in your case though (but worth a try).
Otherwise nandroid backup up then flash superuser.zip from recovery http://androidsu.com/superuser/
If you still have problems re flash your Rom.
When superuser works ok it's best to leave it alone as updating sometimes causes problems on some roms.

@hans moleman: Thx for your reply:
first i tried an full wipe -> still not working (no app got root)
so i had remember me that i have an old backup (3 month old) -> restore backup over recovery -> update all apps without superuser -> root is working again
atm my phone can use root and works like before but i have now trouble with networklocation over wlan/mobil (no gps)
If you are having GPS trouble it could be a radio issue. Make sure you have the correct radio version installed for your rom. I use the latest version (on various roms) and I've not had any GPS problems for some time.

First of all, I have no idea where should this be posted as I am a total noobie to this forum and there is way too many categories.
I have a big problem. I installed Framaroot, used the first option (Boromir?) and have rooted my phone successfully. I tried to use *#*#supersu#*#* but nothing came up, the digits just disappeared, so I installed SuperSU from the market. I didn't do much on it, just changed the theme and hid it from my apps. I were rooted and happy for about a month, then however I got angered by SuperSU because I had to restart Hex Editor every time to get the root permissions (I were editing Terraria save files). The anger made me want to uninstall SuperSU, hoping it would just grant all the perms to the editor. First of all I disabled SuperSU, and when I realised it actually disabled the whole root, I enabled it again (unsure if it worked), I assumed everything is working, but I still wanted to get rid of the permission thing, so I pressed something like 'clean up to switch to a different superuser', and restarted my phone. I come back, and I have no root, so I went into Framaroot and used all the options, each returning that SuperSU and superuser binaries were installed. I restarted my phone, grabbed SuperSU from the Play store, just to find out that 'SuperSU binaries were not installed and SuperSU cannot install them, this is a problem!'. I then went on Framaroot, uninstalled root with all 3 options, restarted, then installed all, restarded, and the problem is still occuring. I am running Android Jelly Bean on Alcatel 4030X.
I have completely no PC access, so any USB roots or things like that are a no go. Please help!
Hi
since no-one has replied it may be because you have no paragraphs so it shows a disorganised mind....giggles
#########
Since you claim you used framaroot to install we now try to get root again
system settings security enable unknown sources
install framaroot ....if you lost it....to sdcard
install it
run it
choose first root exploit as you say that worked
if success you must reboot
###########
What you need to do if you have chainfire's superuser installed next time
go to app drawer
click on the red and yellow su icon
click on settings
change the default from .....ask each time to grant
reboot phone to test permission for apps is now auto granted. Especially test Hex Editor
###########
Altho you don't ask....there are 2 ways of updating chainfire's app
playstore ....click on update for app
open it
it will give you a dialog box to update
choose normal............it attempts to autoupdate
b) install a custom recovery and choose TWRP or CWM or CTR etc and try to update thru custom recovery
good luck

You're going to have to wait for quite sometime. Firstly Mediatek is something new for Sony. Previously it was Qualcomm so the steps are more or less the same. Secondly this is a mid range phone by Sony so there won't be much waves about this phone because most people will be getting Z5.
But nonetheless i think this phone is pretty decent that's why i get M5 instead of Z5.
So we got to be patient. Very very patient.
RootMaster (Chinese products)it works finely

install xposed (Lollipop version) and install Xperia Xposed and others modules by yrself and tick xperia xposed module in xposed Modules section and next reboot phone and now you can choose new power menu with reboot option in xperia xposed app and now use the root to do the things u want such as browse page with orbot or Hola better internet apps or play cheat with game cheater apps .XD dont mind my reply are too ugly and peace, and if you think this is helpful for you or friends please give a Thanks Button.

I download the software(rootmaster) ,but it not work . I tryed many times....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m5/general/unlock-bootloader-t3220927
Unlock bootloader is now possible.
Did anybody, other then the poster have success with this rootmaster?
And does this require the boot loader to be unlocked?
Doing a Google search for MT6795 (our chipset) shows that Mediatek has at some point released the sources of the kernel and baseband, but all the links to their github are dead.
If we can find someone who has pulled these sources before they were taken off and a developer who knows how to put them to use we might get custom recoveries, root and custom ROMs.

I found this , is it what you were looking for?
Unfortunately I found some other info saying it e wasn't actually released but leaked. Which explains why it has been taken off again. These posts also said that those sources were incomplete and only applies to a xiuomi (or something like that) model and not to other phones.
And on top of that I am not a developer so I can't do anything with the sources myself. I just read the blogs and these sources seem to be the reason why we still don't have root.
So maybe a developer could have a look at the sources you found and verify if they are real and complete. If they are this might get us one step closer to open development for our device.

I did but it doesn't support our device. I put in a research request, but there aren't enough for them to research or device.
More requests might help, but I don't know how many they need.
I think our hopes of rooting M5 is definitely not going to happen....

Kingroot can successfully root our device, but it requires a couple of tries. I had to run it 5 times before it was successful.
Some apps like supersu or xposed app settings dont open on firetv.
Apparently this is caused by the app theme which the firetv is missing. So its unable to open those apps with incompatible themes.
To fix those apps and make em run, you need the xposed module “Holo Themer“.
Its very important that you take the version 3.0 because with all newer versions you might get bottles bootloops when the module is enabled.
Even with that 3.0. you might get a bootloop, but there is a fix for that:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/general/protip-how-to-fix-bootloop-caused-t3552052
The theme which is working fine for me is the “Material Dark“ one.
Enjoy your Supersu settings and xposed settings etc.

I hope this works & that it might be implementable outside of XPosed some how.
Do you know if this will also fix the ES File Explorer "Sorry, test failed. This feature cannot run on your device" bug too ?
More info on it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71704440&postcount=15
Wonder if this will let us change settings in SuperSU to be able to get ES File Explorer Root to work correctly ???
well you can change super su settings with that fix.
xposed is necessary

Was finally able to try it & it let me update the included SuperSU. And that fixed all my ES File Explorer Root option failing problems. So thanks. This option did the trick. Which actually makes sense since when we first rooted our FTV1's doing a normal update in SuperSU when that popped up was part of the process. Will include more details over in the ES File Explorer thread. :good:
Thanks again for sharing this.
FYI, I do deactivate the Holo Themer module to lessen the device random rebooting. So it's good to only have it active on as needed basis.
Big thanks for this info. I can finally change su settings from prompt to grant permission for rooted apps.

But make sure you keep it deactivated or you will start to see multiple random restarts to your device. Only turn it on when needed. Which shouldn't be often. Also turning it on/off requires a reboot too.

I didn't have any issues leaving it enabled.
Followed systemlessly root guide. Worked perfectly.
Installed busy box last night, broke root. (dont remember if installed /bin or /xbin.)
Reboot, lost root. Cant uninstall BB due to no root.
Tried reflashing suconfig/su/suhide with updated twrp 3.1.1.1. No success.
About to flash factory images, but worried the no.provisioning edit will be deleted, and if the not rootable problem persists, I'll loose hotspot completely.
Any ideas why the happened, and how to go about fixing the problem? Could use Su/magisk, doesn't matter which.
Sorry to make a new thread. If you can help, I'll gladly buy you a beer. Been working on this all afternoon and im getting fed up.
Addition- selected, do not install twrp, but got the "application" installed anyway. Tested, not a permanent recovery.
Download supersu 2.82 and make sure its on your device
Boot into twrp
Hit "advanced"
Hit "file manager"
Scroll down and find "fstab.marlin" and tap on it
Hit "delete" and swipe to confirm
Return to home of twrp and install Supersu 2.82 SR5 (Do not install the su config or suhide)
Reboot to system, check if root is present.
Use root to uninstall busybox files, clear busybox app data, open the app and let it install in the default location it provides.
Then reboot and install suhide if needed.
