Hello,
I had searched for this bug(?) but I found nothing like this.
Normal situation: if I want to put a new widget in the desktop, before drop the widget somewhere there is a green shadow which indicates that the placement is correct. If another widget is in the same place, this shadow is gray.
My problem: somehow, in concrete places in the desktop, at the time to drop the widget the shadow is gray and no widget is there. This occurs in the 1st desktop the hole 1st row and in the 2nd desktop, the 4th column, 2nd row. All the time are the same places and no matter which widget i try to put.
I have tried: reboot, long press in the gray places (maybe was an "invisible" widget), uninstalling some apps.
I'm newbe in android and don't want to make reset to default. Somebody knows about this issue?
Thanyou.
Never occured that problem, unistall all widgets then reboot, and then try to instal and put it.
First thing to try is wiping data for the launcher. You many need root, never tried without so don't know.
Sent via subspace beacon from my Arc.
This problem is known and is due to a modification of the location of the widgets that were here before; for instance if you move it from memory to sd card.
If you do not want to root, you have to reset the launcher, but you will have after to do your personalization again. To reset the launcher, Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, All, Sony Ericsson Home, Wipe Data (sorry, my system is in French, so my translation can not be exact).
If you have rooted, you have to remove the line(s) concerned by your "ghost" widgets in the file: \data\data\com.sonyericsson.home\files\desktop.xml.gz\desktop.xml
Thanks to all for the answers and specially for thierryb because he got with the solution.

Hi guys.I have this issue. I was about to install a widget on my home screen, and after I've installed one, I see it nowhere. I mean play store said it is successfully installed, but all I see is a uninstall button, and There's no sign of the new widget in the quick widget menu nor the drawer... ive cleaned the system bloatware once, and I was thinking maybe I've deleted something that has to do with it somehow.
Any chances html viewer system app is the one?
And just got a weird thought. I've installed a firewall today and I have the apps widget installed on my home system... how the..
Additional taught... maybe the dpi change to 540 is interrupted with the widgets? If it is, how to fix it?
Help?
Hi guys,
I just got my g3 and something really strange happened.
I had the google folder on my homescreen and then deleted it, when i go into my apps i can't see the apps that were in that google folder.
I have to goto the playstore and open gmail from there. Is there any way i can get my icons back from the folder i deleted?
Just before anyone mentions, my apps aren't hidden. They're just gone
Those are just doors to your apps, you deleted the doors.
Just long press on your screen and a dialog will Pop up, go to apps and browse to the one you want, touch it and it should go to your screen.
Yup i know about that also...
I like to have a clean desktop...therefore i use the apps key all the time and access my apps from there.
Is there another way of getting my icons back to where all my other apps are?

Long press on any of them and the one you press will appear on the desktop page your on.. Your then free to long press and move, delete, edit the name etc.... At least with Nova launcher you can.
Attached a screenshot.
How do I get rid of them? They are not in the app list in settings and if I hold down on the icons, the only options are Select Item and Add to Home. If I just tap to open, it just says App does not exist.
I'm not rooted. This happened right after first setup.
Looks like a bookmark that you added to desktop, and then was restored from the cloud incompletely.
Did you use an alternate browser on your previous phone/firmware?
Do these sites appear on your current browser's bookmarks list? Maybe add those to the launcher to see whether it'll "overwrite" these old entries

From a fresh factory reset, before even signing in with my account, and before even connecting to WiFi, I did the de-bloating first. My guess is that something interrupted the process of setting up these shortcuts after debloat.
I never used the browser (chrome). Would these be related to the Samsung browser maybe?
Tried to clear launcher app data&cache?
I ended up just installing the actual apps in the play store, then immediately uninstalling them and that did the trick.
Since updating to the June build the pixel launcher crashes every time I press on a widget. I've tried deleting the widget and readding it and clearing the cache in pixel launcher. I haven't cleared data yet because I think that will lose all of my home screen setup. Is anyone else experiencing this or know how to fix it?
Updates/upgrades can and do break things.
Try -if- possible updating the app.
No easy fix if the app is no longer compatible with the firmware though and hasn't been updated.
Try clearing the data, reinstalling said apps.
Or simply don't use them for the time being.
If another app like Google play Services is used by the problem widget, dependencies, clear it's data.
A factory reset may solve the issue but don't count on it...
My stock N10+ firmware hasn't been updated in 2.5 years, current load is 2 yo, still fast, stable and fulfilling its mission. Security is not an issue. However resolving app updates issues has cost me more wasted time then anything else. All were resolved without a factory reset... easier said than done
Google makes changes for the sake of change alone. All too often not in the end users best interests. Just because you're busy doesn't mean your productive... Gookill.
I just temporarily switched from Nova Launcher Prime to the Pixel Launcher on the June update and clicked on the At a Glance widget, and it loaded the weather fine.
I hope you find an easy solution.
Using any Magisk Modules? If so, disable them, reboot, and try again.
I'll give that a shot. Widgets that open an app work fine but the ones that do an action like pressing play on my Audible widget cause it to crash. I only have some basic magisk modules but I will try disabling them and see if it helps. Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm not rooted or nothing and just applied clock wiget to pixel launcher nland opened it worked fine for me no crash must be a magic mod that's efecting you
I confirm here that this is indeed a problem with the new June security patch.
Here are some widgets I found that have this problem (crashes Pixel Launcher when tapped)
1. Galaxy Buds Manager
2. Habits (blue reload icon) with it's checkbox widget (you must create a habit and select it to reproduce)
3. All Google Fit widgets
In fact most widgets I tried worked, but there are those which crashes every single time you tap on it.
Not sure what is going on.

Maybe try the Habit app too, I have confirmed with another person and it does crash.
Have to create a habit and then add it to the home screen.

You have to create one first in the app and then add the widget
Ok ill give it another go
As can see no crash for me
Uh couldn't upload so done this way no crash for me
I can open the app with any widget but it crashes when the widget has to do something. For example my audible widget will open the app but clicking the play button causes a crash. The same thing happens with Google calendar and my Authy widget.

Sometimes or even often if a simple copy/paste of an image to a post doesn't work, you can download your image to a file, click the Insert image button in the post, click where it says click here, add the image as an attachment, then from the successful attachment you can choose whether to insert the full image or a thumbnail into the post. This works for me almost all the time that pasting directly into the post fails.
So, sounding like the widget problem is with the Pixel Launcher.
Thank you I was using mobile and didn't see the insert or attach file
hi, any solution for this? other than installing other launcher
this is the crash log that i received
