Hi Everyone,
Just received the official 4.3 update on my SGS3.
I have been trying to figure out how to set/enable/use the multiple windows in the lock screen! Anyone knows how? I just saw it briefly when I received an SMS and I pressed on the message notification. I could see multiple windows when swiping on one side. I also saw an 'edit' icon at the bottom right corner. But I'm not able to see those windows again.... How do I enable them or see them or edit them?
Is there any way to get the weather notification on the lock screen? Should I get a separate lock screen weather app or widget?
Thanks in advance and cheers...
Press and hold the back button.

Thanks.
I think that is for multiple windows on the home screen. Isn't it? I tried pressing and holding the back button on the lock screen and nothing happened.
I want to know how do I get to set up the lock screen multiple windows.
pretty sure this is already answered in the other 4.3 thread, and also in saranhais rom thread, also in mine i think.

Oh. Sorry I couldn't see those before..
But I just figured out.. swiping from the top of the lock screen brings up the other lock screen and the option to add more lock screen windows, where we can add more widgets.
Thanks anyways.

Does anyone know how to disable the vanilla slide to unlock screen but keep something like the pattern lock on??? I've tried no lock from the market, but my pattern lock wouldn't come on. It's kind of retarted to have to slide to unlock the screen and enter a pattern lock. Thanks for any help.
btw, I'm running Calkulin's v.1.1 ROM.
Thought I'd try one more time to get it to the top? Anyone? Thanks.

Doesn't he have the zip file on the 1st page of his thread?
What thread are you talking about? I,m a search dummy, I can't find anything about this stupid lock. Are you referring to Calkulins thread?

I got the zip, flashed it and how I have the older slide left/right lock, still I have to do that before I get my pattern. Ugh this is a pita lol. I just want the single pattern lock when I turn my screen off.

on CM6
the PIN and PWD option presents the user with the SlideLock...then the SecurityLock then the desktop.
the ZigZag option presents the user with the PatternLock then desktop.
I'm not running CM6....are those settings found in that rom? Is there no other way to just get the patter lock and no vanilla lock???

I know you can use switchpro to disable the lock screen but I've never tried it in conjunction with the pattern lock so I don't know of it would do what you're looking for but it's worth a shot.
I use switchpro, I'll give it a go and post back.
*edit- Yep! It does exactly what you're looking for So use switchpro to disable the lock screen and when you hit the power button to wake the phone up it goes directly to the pattern lock

Is your lock screen the Sprint slide-down lock or the standard/vanilla lock? I ask because, with Switch Pro, it either unlocks both, or enables both (with the Sprint HTC slide-down lock).
Thanks.
didn't worked on Xperia x10 =(
Just wanted to add that disabling the lock screen with switch pro is awesome. I can't believe I never found that before.
Also, if you want to have ur volume buttons wake ur phone, try widget locker. Enable widget locker, then enable any hardware button wake, then use switch pro to disable screen lock then disable widget locker. Bam, volume key wake w/o lock screen, pure awesomeness.
Hey... I think this thing makes phone calls too!
Hey guys...
Just wanted to post this little find. I haven't seen it posted before, so I apologise if I missed that thread...
Try this...
Open an application with the settings button in the bottom corner.
Switch off screen
Switch on screen
Do you have the settings button in the same corner? Press it... screen unlocks
Shortcut or flaw?

Oh wow, never noticed that before. I can't think of any benefit of it so it likely to be a bug.

The online kitchen over at MoDaCo has an option to disable 'menu key unlock'. I'm assuming this is referring to this issue (if it is an issue) but I may be wrong.

don't get this option. is it something to turn on in Settings?
Did you also notice that you can access the notification bar from the lock screen?
Can't be a feature, surely?

That is actually a feature. Quite useful if you don't have a pattern/pin/face lock setup.

it is most definitely a feature, and was demoed at the first unveiling of the phone back in October.
Ahhhh... so it doesn't work if there is security lock on... I get it.. ty

Actually neither does the originally noted shortcut work when the pin is on

Can someone explain what the purpose of the settings button is in this context? Is it just another way to unlock the screen? Why does it only appear in the given scenario?
Also, why do the back and home buttons appear when you drag down the notifications bar?
They do not appear to be functional, but can be pressed. I suppose the back button makes sense, as it dismisses the notification panel, but the home button does not appear to be functional.
I opened facebook, the menu button was there. I turned off screen, then turned it back on. the menu button was there on my lock screen but when I pushed it, nothing happened. phone did not unlock. I use pattern unlock.

More than likely, the menu button being on the lock screen is just a glitch that really shouldn't be there. The good news is that if you have a lock other than the slide lock (Pattern, Password, Pin, Face) the the menu button on screen does nothing.
It's already been reported to google as a bug. It only happens if you have an insecure lock method (swipe, or none).
Is there a way to bypass the lockscreen. I would just like to push the power button and be on home screen. ???

Missing Windows Mobile wilder?
I don't think so in Android. There are apps that will allow you to delay the lock but I don't know about disabling or redirecting it. Let's see if you get any other suggestions.
I've used no lock on my photon with no issues-https://play.google.com/store/search?q=no+lock
if you are on ICS, just go to security and set lock screen to "none" if your still on GB im not sure

true no lock
If you really want to get rid of the lock screen on the epic touch then go into the dialer and enter *#7594#
It will prompt you to uncheck a box. That box is so that when you long press the power button it powers off. It will also disable the lock screen. I always wished my og epic had this so I seemed it out when I got the epic touch.
I hope this helps someone.
This app does it for me most of the time. It occasionally still gives the lock screen, but rarely. The lock screen shows up on boot, and I've seen it after a phone call once.
All you need to do is go to location and securty, lockscreen, none this works on Gingerbreadand ICS no need for any apps.

I think you misunderstand. Marking none in the settings just gets rid of pin or whatever type of lock screen you have chosen. We want there to be no lock screen. No version of Android does that in the settings as far as i know. That is ehy the app no lock exists.

Come one, come all. I would like for you to divulge the methods behind your lock screen. Do you use pin? pattern? or a simple swipe? Why have you selected this method?
If you do use a more "secure" pattern or pin, what are your settings? This to say, how long before the lock comes on and things of the like.
Throw in any other information you think might be pertinent to this discussion, such as third party locking apps that might be better.
As questions go in Q&A do not check yes this is a question for a POLL.
I have edited your title
Thanks

I recently started using a lock screen. Because I lost my last gs3 and it wasn't locked.. I now use the pattern. I have it set for the screen to go off 30 seconds after no activity.. I also use the app Delayed Lock to have the lock screen delayed for 10 minutes after the screen goes off.. And I have it disabled when it connects to my home wifi..
I also have my info on the lock screen in case I ever lose it again..

Hey Guys,
Got my H815T variant today. Extremely happy with it thus far!
Just had a question for other owners.
I was trying to setup lock screen shortcuts, however whenever I selected it and configured it, they never showed up on the lock screen. I am using the 'swipe' security method.
Anyone else have any difficulties with this?
Cheers,
Kevin
Whirlpoolian?
There should be shortcuts on there by default. Were there any when you first used the device? If you've picked them from the lock screen settings then they should appear.
Might be a pain but hard reset might be the only thing i can think of that may work.

Mine didn't show up until I did a full power off/on after changing them around. Was thoroughly confused as to how to use them for a bit lol....
If you have any kind of lock screen security enabled, you won't be able to use lock screen shortcuts. The Shortcuts menu item under the Lock Screen menu won't show up if your lock screen security is set to anything other than 'None' or 'Swipe.'
