Wi-Fi Disconnecting - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I have a rather annoying problem where every few hours my wi-fi disconnects and it shows a message saying that the wi-fi key is incorrect even though it was connected perfectly fine just seconds before that. What's causing this and how can I fix it?

Try a different ROM...
...or Radio.
Which one do you have installed?
Is shown when booting, down right at R G D,
the Numbers right next to R.

The radio version is 1.15.00

O.K., so you've got the latest available version.
Which also means you're able to flash all WM6.5.5 ROMs,
as you've got 1.13/higher.
Did you check if wifi connection is really cut
when this message occurs?
My BA drove me mad when i tried to connect to
bluetooth gps receiver, as it frequently told
connection not available till i realised it had connected nevertheless...
tbh i really don't know what could be done, except of trying some different Rom.
Of course instability of voltage supply could cause irritations,
but i presume you had your BA docked in charger, right?

Really Weird WIFI Problem

Greetings everyone. I've had a T-Mobile Dash (the black one) for quite a while now, but since I got it has a really weird problem with the WIFI. When I turn on the WIFI it searches the connections flawlessly, I can put the key on any connection or enter freely when is open. But then it says connecting and a few seconds later it says connections available again, as if it tried to connect and could not. This happens with ALL connections, unsecured, WEP, ect. I had installed every cooked rom available and also installed the stock one to see if it works, but alas, nothing works. Does anyone has any tips or tricks on how to get the WIFI working?

Thanks for the suggestion, but yeah, I already did that. I have tried connection in many routers and in all happen the same thing. It is a really weird problem and searching through the 3VO thread I saw somebody had the same problem but no answer. I am ready to just accept that my Dash is WIFI less forever. I have tried everything. But thanks anyway

Problem connecting via wifi to any router or type of network

Hello, over 2 weeks ago my dash was working fine on the latest 3EVO rom now at home when i try to conect to my wifi connection it seems to try to connect and then shows the conection with an X and states "unavailable" it shows the signal bars but as soon as u see the connection trying to be made next to the SSID there is the antenna logo with a red x inside a circle it will not show signal bars or available until phone is restarted. i flashed phone back to original WM6 and flashed SPL (USPL) 1.11 and brought it again to latest 3EVO rom and still problem presented on both roms. power mode is set to best performace. can someone please help me i love my dash i still have it because of the wi-fi..Thanks in advanced
UPDATE:today i went to Wendy's and noticed the "free wifi" logo so i said lets give it ago and it worked conected sucessfully but when got back home same thing happened, i went back around Wendys since its only like a block away and stood outside and it conected.

So WIFI works well, so I think there's a problem with your router.
Yeah seems so, but i cant figure out what can it be, could it be the channel the router is broadcasting in?

Probably, have you already reset your router? That can work.
Thanks for the info and your great help.

Great that you solved your problem
Could be as simple as other internet wi-fi users around you are using channel 11, you get problems if lots of people on the same channel
You could check this with wififofum
Not that really matters now since you tweaked.
Thanks but i will try that since i noticed that while working on channels 4-6 the range decreased.i will test to see.Thank You all for your help.

No wifi after 2.2 upgrade

So I have done the official 2.2 upgrade but now my wifi isn't working. I have gone into software updates and updated the profile, prl, and checked for new software and firmware.
Wifi keeps saying "obtaining ip address". It's my home wifi and before the update it was working flawlessly.
Appreciate the help.
Do I have this posted in the wrong section, or has this question been answered? I've searched high and low.
Try reflashing newest radio and wimax. Flash one at a time. This has happen to me before with wifi and 4g but on 1. 47. If that does not work flash calklins v1. 02 rom. I am using that on wifi typing thos response. Good luck

from the sound of it he flashed the official OTA so probably isnt rooted.
Have you tried it with any other routers to see if it connects?
try unplugging yor router and re plugging it back in to reset it and try connecting if that doesnt work sounds like your radio is messed up and you may have to take ti to a sprint store so they can reflash it if you arent rooted.

I am using the router for my laptop right now so I dont think the router is the problem.
I had the unofficial .3 update which is when my wifi stopped working, then I upgraded with the fix to .6 last night, still no wifi. I am not root, just bone stock .6 froyo...
Take it to sprint service center. Or delete the wifi settings in the phone and reconnect.

The reason i suggest resetting the router is because they often store information about a MAC address, When the information changes sometimes routers have connection issues. you dont see it a lot and since most of the time the information doesnt change (you dont update much on your pcs that would cause this). When it does change (ie a radio from a phone) it can sometimes cause issues. that's why i suggested you restart the router. I have had it happen several times when changing radios on my phones over the years.
Just because 1 thing connects to a router does not mean it cant contribute to another thing not connecting to it. I also wouldnt bet my life that it would fix it or anything.i was just giving a suggestion that HAS worked for me in the past when similar issues happened.IT was a good place to start. It would also help verify the problem is in deed with the phone from an actual tech point stand instead of an assumption.
anyway best of luck with getting this fixed

Gave it a shot, but still no luck. Keeps on trying to obtain IP address. Won't connect at my friends house anymore either.

it is definatly the phone then. It sounds like thw Wimax radio didnt flash right. With out Root i think your best bet is to drop by a sprint store they should be able to reflash it for you.
@chris17house
I have the same issue on my EVO that is still on 1.47.
The first time I connected my router gives my phone a lease for a ip address (lets say 192.168.0.010) and associates it with the mac address of my phone.
When I try to reconnect at a later time, the lease for my phone on the router has not expired, but the router gives my phone a new ip address (let say 192.168.0.020), which causes a conflict with the same mac address, but two different ip address. Once I reset my router and my phone the problem is fixed, because the router releases the lease and my phone does a dns flush.
Do you think flashing the wimax or radio instead of reflashing the entire rom would be worth a try? And if so, where is that file located please.
Ok, so wifi connects everywhere except my home. I have unplugged the router and modem for an hour and reconnected them. I still am unable to connect to my home wifi. Is there something more i need to be doing?
I was having the same problem with work and home, but all I did was forget both locatations and discover them again.

[Q] No internet through WiFi after few minutes, still connected

Hi guys,
I've searched the whole forum but I couldn't find any other thread about my problem.
When I connect my HOX to WiIF (Sitecom WL-370 - 300N Gigabit Dualband Router) everything works fine at first, but after a few minutes (5, or sometimes 15 minutes) I've got no Internet anymore but I'm still connected. Also WiFI Analyzer still detects the network. I've this problem both on 2.4 GHz as on 5 GHz. I've also tried switching channels.
The strange thing is, I can still receive a WhatsApp message but I can't send any, also I can't browse on the Internet or things like that.
After turning my WiFi off and on it works fine again for the few minutes..
Best Wi-Fi performance is turned on and the other devices at home haven't got this problem.
Anyone having the same problem or knows a solution?
I've got the same problem and it seems to be totally random. What i noticed is that my Google Play Store always stops working (no connection) shortly after i turned on the phone (~10 minutes). Switching Wifi off and on again doesn't seem to change it, i need to restart my HOX to get it working again while other apps connect just fine after turning Wifi off and on again.
Edit: Stock Vodafone ROM (1.28.161.9)
I have the exact same issue and i went through every setting in my router trying to fix this.
I would turn on my WIFI, connect to my home network, and start downloading. After a few minutes it'll either stop (the dl percentage not change) and then if i reload the market/youtube/browser or any app that users the net, it'll say no connection.
The weird thing about this is that it LOOKS like i am connected to wifi (in the notification bar).
This may be a separate issue, but i tried to turn it off and then on again to get around the issue. This time around i would try to connect to my home wifi and it'll just say 'Saved' and then the network would go out of range.
I am running Leedroids rom.
I might have found a solution:
Under Settings -> Wifi -> Menu -> Extended there is an option for Wifi Power Saving. After unchecking it all my connectivity problems are gone.
May be worth trying a static IP configuration, if you know enough about ip4 to do it. I've seen problems with android Wi-Fi since version 2.2 - if your router issues an indefinite dhcp lease, it can show exactly the symptoms you describe. Only a possibility but worth a try.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I have the exact same issue - the wireless shows connected yet you cannot browse the Internet etc. I have also tried every setting on the Wireless AP without any success. Even tried static IP and that does not fix it either. Whilst other devices in the house are ok...
The weirdest thing is though it does not happen everywhere i.e. at other places like work (where at least the same type of AP is in use) or at my brothers' house (where he has a Linksys). This is pretty much the only thing that bugs me with the HTC - the only workaround I have found is to make sure that WiFi is kept on only at times when plugged in - this doesn't actually fix the issue but it does mean that the phone will disconnect the WiFi and get a new connection next time it wakes up - this way I find I get the problem much less than when I have it set to Always.

Yeah, exactly, I've got the same problem. At school I've got no problems with the WiFi. I already send a message to HTC and I'm waiting on there answer.
I have kinda the same issue.
Using a HOX and at work I'm connected to Wifi and I can browse. At my house I can connect to the wifi, my IP is right that I'm getting from DHCP (I even tried putting in a static IP) but I can't browse
I also have a HTC Sensation, same setup and it works. The sensation can browse at work and at my house.
Why would this be?
Tried all sorts of solutions, but the only one that works is disabling the N-band and only leave B and G. This means that your laptop won't connect with the faster N, but at least the HOX works (what's more important )
Well I tried broadcasting a separate SSID on the b/g interface only for the exclusive use for the hox but that hasn't made any difference...my workaround is to have tunein radio in the background streaming whilst surfing...if I get bored of that solution my next workaround will be to trade the hox for an s3 as much as I despise TW...
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I tried all the bands "B, G, N" and nothing works. So tired of this crap. Think I might just get a S3

I was thinking to do the same but there is no chance in hell of me doing that after I compared my HOX with a display model at the phone shop. Pentile screen vs LCD on the HOX? HOX = Sharper and better whites - the white on the S3 is bluish and so obvious. Another thing also I noticed is that the aggressive auto brightness on the S3 is too much - you won't tolerate it and you will likely be forced to manually adjust all the time. That plus reading that the S3 goes through the battery like no mans business when on standby unless you turn off all the features and put it in power save mode (might as well buy a Nokia then) at least the HOX uses the Ninja core and actually does save your battery in standby mode.
Anyway - the reason I replied is that I found a workaround (note, workaround does not mean a fix) - I put in a wifi extender in an area where I tend to spent most of my time with the HOX - this has not fixed the problem per se but rather seems to have elevated it somewhat. Basically now if the HOX drops from the main offending AP it automatically gets hooked up on to the extender and carries on working! I say this because (and I saw this only twice so far) I realised that when the phones Internet connection stops and you load a new page it timed out and get page cannot be found but when I hit refresh it works again you do notice a 3-4 second lag (this never happened before the extender came into play). Not sure if anyone else has tried this but I got a Linksys/Cisco extender for £69 and so far at least it has given me a workaround. Of course your mileage may vary...so don't splash out on an extender and come and blame me if it doesn't work for anyone here...
I am also having this issue with my HOX has anyone found a fix for this?
i have tried everything listed and nothing works.
its weird though because i have NO issues on my home network, but my network in my apartment here and at work network i get this issue
!!
bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbuuuuuummp any fixes??? this sucks !!!!
What versions of android you guys have? Stock, sense, vanilla android, ics, jelly bean? Because I didn't encounter this problem when running stock or ics custom roms. After I updated hboot to 1.31 and tried different jelly bean sense roms it appeared. I also tried some stock android roms (ice cold jelly and liquid smooth) and wifi seemed to work fine. So is this sense problem only?

Translate, what does that mean?
Sent from LT18i with custom firmware by myself.
2nd in the list switches to the 3nd , then 4th goes to 2nd.... (keeps on going) verry weird, maby i should make a vid of it.
If you mean the list of networks keeps changing, it is because the signal strength might be changing and Android does list them by showing the stronger ones first.
