So I heard from a friend of mine that the LTE Nexus 7 doesn't work with Singaporean networks, and the sim cards work with Japanese Nexus 5. Now I'm confused about the compatibility to the basebands available in my country, Indonesia, which are mostly the same as in Singapore.
Anybody else can confirm this or it was just a problem with my friend's Nexus 7?
I read over the info from gsmarena.com, and the basebands available include those used in my country, but I want to be sure before purchasing it. Would be a waste of money if the cellular connection doesn't work at all here.

So, anyone can share a view on this? Maybe users from other countries?

Why not wait for the localized version of the N7 LTE?

I was just wandering that since Australian market hasn't been hit with 32gb models, I could possibly order one of the verizon devices from the US.
The particular one I am looking at is on the ebay here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-GALAXY-NEXUS-4G-VERIZON-LTE-GOOGLE-ANDROID-SAMSUNG-32GB-/300654421553
Are there any potential issues that I should be aware of, when using this device in Australia?

LTE? Is it 4g? Only one provider has 4g network so far. The one I am on now, doesn't support it yet from what i know.
for that price ill sell ya mine..lol...ill wait for another better phone this year from Verizon..lol

LTE is what they call 4G now, but it really isn't. A LTE phone will only work on a LTE network (correct me if I'm wrong, since I only have GSM version).

The device is locked to Verizon so don't buy it. You want a GSM handset
what confuses me is that they send it worldwide and it says to support GSM
Also, if it is locked, wouldn't it be possible to unlock it just by loading one of a custom rom from this forum?

Australian residents only get priority over others in the world when it comes to getting ripped off. See what it costs in local stores:
http://www.mobicity.com.au/samsung-google-galaxy-nexus-32gb.html#.TyqMXfnmdpg
It won't work at all in here. All the Australian carriers have GSM networks while the one you linked to is a CDMA phone.

The specs shown in the OP link looks like it's Galaxy Nexus in general (not just the LTE version). The LTE network is not operational in Norway (do correct me if im wrong), and since it wasn't operational at launch time of the Nexus they decided not to import the LTE version to Norway.
I can't understand they would do that unless the LTE version won't work on regular GSM networks.
This link says that it is NOT a GSM device, and will not work worldwide.

It also uses MicroSIM (ala-iPhone) - it's just not worth the hassle. Get a GSM Nexus if you want one

Yeah... the title says 4G LTE Verizon, but all the specs are for the i9250. I'd get 100% confirmation from the seller first because OP needs the GSM i9250 version, not i515.

You could use the LTE Nexus as LTE-only on a carrier with GSM and LTE. However, the Nexus only supports LTE Band 13, which means your carrier would also have to be using Band 13. So far, Verizon is the only carrier on earth that uses Band 13.
Making it more complicated, your carrier would have to have implemented Voice over LTE and IMS SMS otherwise your phone would be data only and unable to receive calls/text messages.

Get it from hand tech
http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.ph...gb-i9250--sim-free-unlocked--titanium-silver-
This is the one you are looking for. Price would be excluding VAT since you're shipping it internationally.

Thanks, but this is 16gb version, I can get that in AU for a bit cheaper price. 32Gb GSM is way more expensive here than in the US.
Do not get the verizon 32gb version as it will NOT work anywhere in australia. It is a cdma and lte phone, not gsm.
If you want the 32GB GSM version then you first have to wait for it to be released
March 1st apparently

The 32gb GSM version isn't for sale yet.
The 32gb version in the US is the Verizon one.
Hi,
I am planning to buy galaxy nexus phone from US and I will be finally using it in India going back. Can someone please suggest me if the phone works with Indian networks properly.
Thanks for your time.
Bhupinder
I assume as long as you buy the GSM version, although I know nothing of the Indian networks.
Assuming you have a GSM network you can get a SIM from in India, it'll work just fine.
Gsm network is there with band 2100mhz, I believe. So essentially it mean that device will support the band without any issuses.
Thanks again.

Though I don't live in US, I don't think you could add phone feature by changing the rom.
I think you would have to have the international version that permits calls. I'm not sure if that will work in the states though because of frequencies etc.
Galaxy Note 8.0 Xposed Build N5120XXCMH2 / Baseband N5120XXBMD9 / Kernel CivZ-SphereXtreme-REV on Telstra LTE
If you're looking at the AT&T branded Note 8, SGH-i467, there's a thread in this forum on getting the phone capability enabled. I don't think anyone has been totally successful doing that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2430527
If VoIP will sufficiently meet your calling needs, you'll be fine with that model. If you don't want to deal with the idiosyncrasies associated with VoIP, get the international version, GT-N5100. The LTE frequencies won't work on AT&T's or T-Mobile's networks so you'll be at HSPA+ speeds, but it is a true 8" smartphone.

I bought one from amazon and it had calling capability. Should be the same for all of them.
The are different variants of the Note 8. Some have phone capability and some do not. The most common variant sold in the US (in Best Buy and big box stores) is WiFi only. The model sold in AT&T stores has LTE, but the phone functionality has been removed. The N5100, available thro some Amazon vendors, its a true smartphone, but only works on AT&T and T-Mobile's HSPA+ network.

I use a note 8 LTE as my phone here in UK and am absolutly loving it....had to change from 3 mobile to O2 as 3 dont allow phone sims in tablets, seems O2 do cos its been working fine for about 3-4 weeks.
Rather than look foolish with a tablet next to my ear I purchased a galaxy gear which is not fully working as I am on stock 4.2.
Got rid of my note 2 and note 10.1 and have just a note 8, best thing I ever did!!!
Hello there!
I'm going to Thailand for a couple of months and I was wondering if my GT-i9250 "Maguro" will work properly there with their carriers or should I have to change anything? Do they use GSM or CDMA?
I have it rooted and I'm not an expert but I have Mobile ODIN Pro in case I have to change something.
Thanks in advance.
I had been in Thailand for travel. In Thailand they use GSM,you don't have to do any thing just buy a Sim and the account. If you want to use Internet you have to change the APN,the carrier will instruct you.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Free mobile app
In Thailand, almost everybody are using GSM (some may also use LTE but that's not the point here). Maguro is well supported by all major carriers -- DTAC, TrueMove, and AIS -- I have tested all of them .
You can get a prepaid sim card from any 7-eleven in pretty cheap price (~100baht = ~$3), put it in the phone, then make a call right away (the access point setup instruction is included in the sim's package I believe).
Welcome to Thailand!
Hello Guys,
does anybody know, if a Nexus 5X, which I want to buy on my next visit in USA will work in Germany?
As I heard the US Providers do not use SIM cards.
Thanks for your help.
SLC_SHARK
We DO use SIM cards. Only 2 carriers don't.
I believe the phone should work fine over there.
In europe lte bands 3,7,20 are used to provide 4g connectivity.....I believe the american model doesn't have lte band 20, as long as your carrier supports also band 3 and 7 you should be fine or at least with worse coverage
It works fine, your only problem might be LTE not working due to the different bands.
