Hey guys, im kinda new here, i've lurked and gotten help but this is my first post.
I was using Call&Note Recorder for a few days, everything worked super well was recording everything and all that, but last night i noticed that the icon wasn't in the notification bar up the top. So i went into it, reactivated it, but everytime the screen goes off, it disables it again, whether its from locking, or putting it up to my ear.
This (of course) is really annoying, i don't know if anything else is broken as this is just the start, but i don't know what i did in the last few days that i could of broken it. I did install Xposed framework and Keepchat, which didn't seem to work for me, so i've since uninstalled it. Besides that i can't think for the life of me what could be causing it.
So i am hoping someone here knows, and might be able to help without having to restore it.
Thanks in advance. Scott.
EDIT: ok it happens with Dropsync as well, if i start a sync and lock the phone, it shuts it compleatly down. I really need help
EDIT 2: Was unable to get into recovery either, the Galaxy Note II logo would come up and then fritz out and reset, and just keep doing that over and over. So currently re-installing stock firmware with odin, in the hopes that i fix it.
EDIT 3: When i flash the stock firmware, everything works as it should, if i reroot it, the same problems arise. Things turn off when locked and no able to enter recovery. I really hope someone has an answer for this, as its driving me insane working it out.
Is there ways to check what i've installed root wise and uninstall it?

Hey everyone,
I'm currently running the latest Jackos and I believe everyone was fine with the speaker you hold to your ear in conversation until about 2 weeks ago. Maybe a week or so after I installed the newest Jackos. Now I can't hear anything on it, but the microphone works fine. Speakerphone works fine, and my bluetooth earpiece works fine. I've searched for help on this and can't find anything to fix this problem.
The other problem is right when I boot the phone, instead of getting the black screen with the red diagnostic text, I get a white screen with colored speckles all over the screen. The speckles don't move at all and if I let it sit for 20 seconds or so, it will then show the HTC logo on black and continue booting. I can't get into the bootloader, I can't hard reset the phone, etc. Any ideas how to fix this? I haven't tried flashing the same/another ROM yet, but I don't know if that's even possible with this snow screen problem.
I've run Task29 and all the usual stuff every time I've flashed and I have never seen this happen until a couple of weeks ago. It does it NEARLY every time I soft reset or shutdown and boot or pull the battery and boot. The battery charges fine and it runs fine otherwise.
The screen will get random glitches in it, even when the battery is full and it makes me suspect maybe the battery's going bad but it'll run all day without problems and it doesn't get warmer than usual or anything like that.
Also, sometimes it says there's no SIM inserted and I've pulled it out, the contacts are nice and gold and nothing seems wrong.
Any ideas?
My sig is out of date but I have to head out right now and can't switch it yet, but it's the latest Jackos with 6.5.
Thanks,
Eric
I would flash a different/stock ROM and see if anything changes.
If no, hardware problem. If yes, software problem .
You seem to think you cannot, but AFAIK if you can task29, you can flash a ROM. Either way, putting an nbh on the SD card and doing power+vol up+reset should work regardless, unless the device is really bricked - in which case it wouldn't be booting.
Okay thanks, I'll see what I can do with it.. It does boot fine, though for a week I thought it was bricked because of the snow, but I decided to just let it sit for a week and gave it a shot, and poof! no snow on the first boot. It had the regular red text on black. Then I reset it from the slide to reset menu item and it went to snow again. I let it sit there and about the duration that it would be on the diagnostic screen, it was snow, then magically showed me the HTC logo and booted normally.
So it seems to me that it somehow doesn't want to show diagnostic info but does everything else.. So maybe the bootloader mode IS working, I just can't view that. I'll see what I can do.
Does the screen corruption/no sound in earpiece seem like a ROM issue, or battery related, or phone going bad problem to you?
And I've been looking for a while trying to find a suitable replacement, but haven't seen anything that I really find appealing (either in Android or WP7).. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks again,
Eric

Flash stock, it re-flashes everything... Make sure it works, then flash back to Jacko's.

Talk about loaded questions! I haven't found anything that's appealing with a hardware keyboard yet... The supposed TP3 (on Sprint it's the "Arrive"...) was a real disappointment.
MT4GS looks decent, if you can live with tmo...
Thanks for your replies, I'm going to try to flash to stock in a little while and see how that goes.
The new Glide phone that AT&T has sounded promising until I read a review of it. Slow camera, 480x800 on a larger screen, etc. It didn't seem as cool as I had hoped it would be after that.
I'll write back with my progress or lack thereof with this TP2.
Eric
I installed HTC's official AT&T ROM and the screen corruption seems to be less extensive but looks different too. The snow at startup is still present though.
There was a radio that came with Jackos ROM, is there any chance that's to blame? Though it worked fine for a couple weeks before these weird screen things started happening.
I haven't tried making a voice call yet to test the earpiece/earphone/loudspeaker or whatever the proper name is for it but since nothing else is really 'fixed' I'm not sure it will work either.
Thanks,
Eric

The stock ROM should've come with a radio as well...
task29 & flash stock? Otherwise perhaps you have a hardware problem... I don't know what to make of this snow .
The earpiece/loudspeaker thing isn't fixed either. I'll try a Task29 tomorrow or tonight if I can't sleep (thinking about this stupid phone! ) and then flash this ROM again and see what happens and let you know.
Thanks again
All right, I've googled the crap out of this topic and have found many threads on many sites where people think they are STUCK at this screen, and have to pull the battery. For some people that may be the case, but in my case, it is a delay of about 5 minutes. And it is driving me crazy that nobody finds this as troublesome as I do.
I have the Verizon GNex, and I just recently unrooted and got back to stock in order to get the official Jelly Bean OTA update from Verizon. Once I got it, I rooted using CWM and SuperUser. Everything's great except that almost every time I boot my phone it gets stuck on the Google Logo for about 5 minutes before resuming boot. I've used CWM to clear cache, clear dalvik cache, fix permissions, etc. Not fixed, still does it (not EVERY time, but more often than not).
For the love of Homer Simpson, WHAT IS THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM?!? It is clearly a Jelly Bean issue, as every JB Rom I've tried has the issue, where ICS never did. I turn my phone off at night, and can't deal with this almost every morning. Can anybody else with Verizon's stock JB just comment and let me know if you also have this problem, and if you know how to make it stop PLEASE SHARE! Thank you in advance!
I would say try flashing the new bootloader but since you took the OTA I would think it came with it. It might be worth a shot anyway.
It is a common problem with JB. Mine takes a minute or two even with the new bootloader.
Allons-y
The ota did indeed come with the new bootloader. So I don't know what else to do. Extremely annoyed about it, especially since there is no REASON I've heard that explains why it happens. Thanks for posting though, good to know I'm not the only one.
Ive searched everywhere and can't seem to find anyone with a solution. Ive found a post with the same problem but no solution.
So yesterday my s3 started having problems waking up. Meaning when I lock it usually you bring up the lock screen by pressing the power button or home button. Problem is when I press either one, screen doesnt come on. The buttons do. If I tap the screen I can hear the ripple effect but the screen doesnt light up. I have to keep locking and unlocking till it finally works. Averege of about 6 tries. When I get a call most of the time the screen doesnt come on either. I can still answer since I know where the slider is. When I do turn it on everything works perfect. No flickering or any other issues. When it boots it works perfect...never fails. Just when I lock it.
I tried restoring already, thinking its a software issue...still does it. What piece of hardware could cause this? I'm stumped. Please any advice would be great.
I'm not rooted and running 4.1.1 oem rogers software.

My guess is that you have something draining all your RAM or being hard on your CPU. When you restored, did you factory reset?
You might have to backup your stuff, factory reset. Test it, if it still does it, bring it up with Rogers for a replacement. If it doesn't, reinstall your stuff until you find the culprit.
You could troubleshoot it also by uninstalling the latest apps you installed.

Like I said...Already did a factory reset. Meaning All apps were gone. Started fresh. Even without going through the first setup (setting up google account etc etc) if I lock the phone its hard to wakeup.
Phone is out of warranty so no go there....
I'm just not understanding what is causing it. I know the screen is fine...buttons are fine...everything points at a software problem. I found a post from a while back where someone was having the same problem....no solution was posted though. I even took the phone apart last night thinking a bad connection or something...disconnected the screen and reconnected it...didn't do anything.
If the screen was going bad wouldn't I have issues all the time? Once I wakeup the phone it works perfect...no flickering or anything. When it boots (which I've done like 30 times between today and yesterday) the screen has come on every single time perfectly fine. Everything tells me it's software related...but after doing a factory reset and running original firmware it seems as though it must be a hardware issue...but which component.
I know the phone wakes up when I press the buttons...I can see the menu and back buttons light up...and if I tap the screen the ripple sound is there...just the screen doesn't wake up....till I try a few more times....very frustrating.
Thanks Again for trying...if anyone has any ideas....greatly appreciated. I'll try and find original Rogers firmware and install with odin...see if that works....

Sounds indeed like software issue. I'm not so sure what would cause it on stock rogers though.
Either way, you can find the stock ROM on sammobile.com or on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822308
You'll need Odin to flash it. (It doesn't trigger the flash counter)

Did you buy your phone with a credit card? Some cc's have warranty built in. Mine doubles what the manufacturer offers.
Thanks for the link. I will try it tonight and post the results. Really hoping it works.

I downloaded the newest firmware. 4.1.2 official rogers. Problem persists. Must be a hardware issue. Thing is what could cause this? Is it the screen...is it the gpu? I imagine if its gpu the phone is only good for parts as I imagine its part of the motherboard. Oh well...might be getting the s4 sooner then planned.

If you're down for a little test, you could try with a custom ROM.
Use the link I gave you and flash pre-rooted Rogers' ROM. From there, install TWRP (or cwm) using goomanager (from the Play Store) and flash a custom ROM as per their instructions (Don't forget the Gapps).
Before anything though, make a backup
Never know, might save you some time on that S4.

Thanks. I might try it. Dont think I have too much to lose at this point. I always try and keep my phones nice so that when I get a new one I can sell the old one for good money to help offset the cost. This really messes with that system as the phone isn't worth much now...just bought an extended battery too...was planning to keep it for at least another 6 months.

So just a quick update. For no apparent reason the phone started working fine again. It now turns on and off just fine. I'm not going to mess around with it anymore. That's really bizzare. I'll give it a couple days and will report back if it continuous to work fine or if the problem comes back. Thanks for the input.

My Wife's HTC One had its notification light quit working about a month ago. I figured the phone needed to be hard reset and she just hasn't had the time for me to do it. With the recent 4.4.2 update I figured that it might fix it. She took the update and wouldn't you know it... the issue still remained. I just got done hard resetting her phone and even after doing this it doesn't work. It lights up when the phone is being charged, and the service menu tests work perfectly, so I know this LED itself is good. I am just not sure why the notifications aren't working. Mine works flawlessly and has never given me a bit of grief. Has anyone experienced this and resolved it?

I haven't experienced this, but if you flash NuSense it gives you the option to pulsate the softkeys when you get a notification. This would be kind of a workaround if you didn't want to send it in to get fixed I guess.
So Verizon sent my Wife a new One. Upon setting up the phone the notification light was blinking. I restored via setting up her Gmail account and specifying to restore the settings and then once that was done I used HTC Sync Manager to fully restore everything else. I am not sure which restore, but something broke the notification light again. This leads me to believe something is botched in a setting somewhere and either Google or HTC Sync is restoring the bad setting. I want to say somewhere I read that someone else has this issue and said the fix was to not allow Google to restore the phone. I am going to try this and then use HTC Sync and see what happens. If this works, I will post here just in case someone else runs into this issue.
Wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this problem and if there is a solution. There are some other posts I found on this problem but on different phones. I can't believe I'm the only G3 owner having this problem. About half the times I receive or make a phone call, after the call ends, phone becomes completely unresponsive for about 5 to 10 seconds. Can't swipe to next screen, nothing. If the other person ends the call first then I'm stuck at the dialer interface. I can't even reboot the phone. I am rooted with IOroot and using Titanium backup and have frozen all the AT&T bloatware and some LG apps. I finally put Apex launcher on phone hoping this might solve problem. It has solved all remaining laggyness but still having the problem with freezing after phone call ends.
I have Exposed Installer and G3 Tweakbox installed. No other modules installed and this has been happening since before rooting.
I added screenshots of all the apps I froze withTB.
If anyone has some ideas on what I could do to solve this I would appreciate your help.

I've got this problem as well. Touchscreen being unresponsive after someone hangs up on me. I have no solution tho just looking for an answer myself. Only way round it for me is a battery pull but would be nice to know how to fix it.

Someone has told me why on Google +, well it will fix it for me. If you have disabled knock on/off and your on a certain firmware it is a known issue that the touchscreen becomes unresponsive. So hopefully you are in the same boat as me and you just need to enable knock on.

Thanks p70shooter. I did disable the Knock on feature, comes on in my pocket too much. Maybe this will be addressed in a future update as well as the freezing issue. I will give this solution a try and see what happens.
