Okay. I was looking on the internet, and I found this tutorial: https://sites.google.com/site/sonicboomworld/my-projects/simple-otg-cable-video. I was wondering, Can this work on the kindle fire? I also want to ask this because I want to connect my Arduino Uno r3 (Requires 7-16 volts dc) to my kindle fire. Thanks. I am using this tutorial: http://www.shapeshifter.se/2009/07/07/diy-female-female-usb-adapter/ to make the female to female usb.

and got the error
The hub is lighted, so I know it is working, but stickmount and USB helper say there is no USB to mount. I know this otg cable works because I tried it on my dad's DROID RAZR. Any help?

sry, could not hold...
Any valid microUSB 2.0 cable suits any phone.. viva la standartisation!
as for me:
I use great Nokia's cable CA-101 (that was stock with my old nokia n85)
and it's shorty version CA-101D (from my GF's old nokia 5530)
yeah, and stock sammy's cable is lying somewhere in it's box xD
Yup, any microUSB 2.0 cable will suit our phone. It is standard. Even blackberry charger is also suitable for charging our phone.
I have an OTG cable and the only thing I can use it for is my wireless keyboard. It does not detect any of my thumb drives or external HD.
I'm on Haschode's 3.0 ICS. Was wondering if newer jellybean roms were more usb friendly.
Are you using a powered hub?

Yes, I understand that the Kindle Fire may not be able to handle power consuming USB peripherals. I have a powered USB 2.0 Hub called the "Pluggable"

Well, the extent of my KF USB OTG knowledge is...It needs a powered hub. Even then, it's still hit and miss.
Maybe you start a thread asking what devices others have had success with in regards to OTG on the KF.

My phone is Xperia S .50 kernel
Did you try a different tv?

I'll probably do,but the point is to use my TV
I had this exact same problem, after I bought an HDMI to DVI connector to try and hook up the phone to a spare monitor, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060773
still not sure what the issue is
in service menu (test- tv out- sttings) try set resolution to SD ...
It's quite strange, but the issue actually involves the cable. With the 1.4m cable I bought, the thing worked on a new TV at the store, bot not on my '07 Daewoo(see above).Later I've bought a simple tiny microHDMI->HDMI adapter for 2$,and it worked flawlessly, except for it's quite quirky and sometimes disconnects if you move it around.Anyway,I have no idea what it is.
My little cousin was playing around with my S4 Mini's USB cable and he connected the USB part with the micro USB one and just now I noticed that one of the things in the micro side is missing, see this picture:

Can you guys do me a favor and check if the second one is missing or mine is just "broken" now. Still, charging and connecting with computer works but I'm worried it may cause other issues such as establishing connections with Odin and such.
Yup, it's supposed to look like this. Read the Wikipedia entry on USB.
Second opinion reporting.
Yup mine looks like that as well.

Thanks for your replies. Feeling relieved now. :victory:
It suddenly appeared that Amazon fire TVbox didn't work. You could switch it on and then you see the Amazon logo but nothing else would work. - no signal!
We changed the hdmi cable, tried different TVs and different access points. Furthermore we tried to reset the fire box by using the recover menue and the picture was distorted. So the reset did not work.
We connected the firebox with a usb cable (adb works) and a screenshot looked normal.
