Ok, so two days ago I woke up to a dead phone.. Plugged my phone up, and it turned on by itself. The phone comes up to the lockescreen, but the power menu appears on it's own, and I realize that the phone is thinking that the power button is being held down. The phone continues to think the power button is being held down, however it's not stuck, the button can click just fine. At this point, my phone is stuck restarting itself so I take out the battery and set it aside for the day. I get home and try again, everything is normal, but the power button doesn't work. I get up the next morning and the phone is dead(presumably) and I plug it up to harge, however the battery animation and led light that usually turn on when I connect the phone don't show up! The phone doesn't power on, it doesn't charge(from what I see) and the power button is broken >_> I am rooted. I have CM10 installed, however I haven't modded in a few months, so I can't see what the issue is. Everything was working fine 3 days ago, however i think my phone is hard bricked.. Is there a way to get out of this? I have insurance, but my phone is rooted, so do you think sprint will accept the phone and give me a replacement? Can I unrooot the phone somehow before I turn it in?
Thanks for reading, any help is very appreciated
Insurance?
With sprint, you have the option to buy a protection plan, but they only cover certain things, and I don't know if they accept rooted devices

Odin the unrooted stock ROM and take it to get it fixed-http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=166

So I dropped my dash and it landed perfectly on the power button. I wasn't even that far, I was sitting down and it slid out of my lap as I was sitting down on a small chair.. maybe 2ft drop at most. Well it pushed the power button too far in and it ****ed up something to where I cannot use that button. I have, however, stuck a paperclip in the right position or the right "button" on the phone's motherboard/chip and it has turned off/on.. but that's a gamble (I don't know how I hit the right spot, but I've done it twice).
Is there any way I can fix this? I know the warranty will not cover it.. so I'm thinking about opening up the phone myself, but I don't know what I would do from there.
Also, if I wanted to flash the new 6.1 ROM, does it require use of this button? I've been too afraid to attempt this new ROM as I don't want to get stuck in a situation where I can't turn my phone off.
*Currently I'm using a program on my phone to perform a "soft reset" when I need to restart my phone.
Thanks for any help!

Oops, double post. Sorry.
You don't have to use your power button to flash a new OS. However if you run into problems, you might need to use to turn your phone back on. It's a gamble.... it all depends if you're up to it or not!
Ok, how about opening it up and fixing it? Is it possible to open it up and re-seat the power button so that it works again? Should I buy a new button from someone with parts?
You get a whole new case, which I'm sure comes with a button... or Try www.cnn.cn for parts. Or open the phone and see if you can fix it, maybe it's just an easy fix.

Can you get it into fastboot mode? If so then you should be able to flash the stock ROM again.
No, it can't be turned on.

Just to verify, if you hold volume up and down and power at the same time it doesn't boot into the bootloader??
That's where the CPU is I think, where you have highlighted.
If it did fry then you can get a replacement but try the bootloader first.
Also the phone will switch off if it gets tell hot too so maybe that's it.
Thanks, I tried to boot into bootloader with or without usb, but it doesn't work

Pull the battery for a minute or two and try again.
Is it still hot?
It'll cool down after i removed the battery, and won't fry if a put the battery again.
But if i press the power button it will get hot.(not very hot, a little warm)
Is there any way that i can start the phone with only usb cable?
Good Morning!
I have lurked hear on and off when I had problems before with my Samsung phones so I thought I was qualified to help my Wife's parents with their Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. They aren't techy and will buy something new at the first sign of trouble. I was just hoping to save them a couple hundred bucks. All they told me was that it wouldn't turn on. I'm not a techy guy myself but I know how to google and follow instructions so I'm the de facto IT guy in the family.
What it appears is happening is that it's stuck in a sort of reboot loop. I read a bunch of threads about starting in recovery mode and hard resets or hooking it to the computer and updating it from there but nothing works. The computer won't recognize it when I plug it in since it's constantly rebooting. None of the button combos (power+volume up+home, etc.) work either.
I made a quick YouTube video of the problem but as a new member I can't post it but it just flashes the "Samsung Galaxy Tab 3" on and off until I suppose the battery dies.
Any ideas on what else I could try?
If this battery connector is severely cracked, your tablet won't be able to boot.

You can try this, press hard on the back cover near the center to see if it can boot or remove the rear cover and press directly on the battery connector while power on.
Power + Volume Down ( next to Power Button ) is Download Mode
Power + Volume Up is Recovery Mode.
If you cannot access these two modes, may be your power or volume buttons are not working, I guess. The flex cable for these 3 buttons only few dollars on Ebay.
Hi,
I dropped my phone last week and it dented my volume down button. I thought it wouldn't be a huge problem besides volume down being constantly pressed however today my phone battery died for the first time since I dropped it and when I tried to turn it on it went into recovery. While on the recovery screen I don't know what I pressed but somehow I got into this screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
While on this screen and reading my options to figure out what to press to get out of it, my phone screen just randomly turned off?! I figured maybe the battery died? So I've but it on charge (been on charge for over an hour now) but it doesn't seem to be booting up now :/ not even into recovery. In fact I'm not sure if it is even charging, the LED light that usually indicates it is charging isn't blinking. Is that normal? I can't remember if it ever blinks when the phone is off and charging.
Any ideas on what's happening? Or what I should do?
Thanks,
Dilz
Don't panic. It's just the fastboot screen. Press a volume button to navigate to "START" and press power button. Your phone will boot up if everything is fine
Maybe you didn't read the full thread but my phone randomly turned off on this screen and isn't booting now
First you need to release that button. While it's pressed, you won't be able to do anything.

But shouldn't my phone still charge/power on into recovery with the volume down button pressed in?
My LG LS992 with zvc update, unlocked using AT&T service, is acting funky, the power button has to be pressed kind of really hard in order to power on the device, or to turn the screen on and off when on. The fingerprint section of the settings is also completely gone, I'm wondering what exactly do i need to do to get it back working again>? my G5 is preciiuos to me, and i could never let it just die, without giving it a solid hard effort to revive it from its death bed...
Any Ideas? Man i want this to be fixed.. Man i hope its fixable... Please any insight would be wonderful.

I would turn the fingerprint scanner off and make use of the double screen tap as much as possible if I were you. Without replacing the power button/fingerprint scanner, that's the best I can give you. I'm sure you could buy a new phone for as much as that would cost you.
