EDIT: sorry for soem reason half of the topic title dissapeared.
HI there.
I have a little problem with the Lockscreen section, found in the settings. Well, to start, one thing I don't like is the basic 3D galerie of the stock GB rom. I deleted the app. Now I'm using QuickPic. When I navigate to Settings > User Interface > Lockscreen > Background - you already guessed it by now: I can't set a wallpaper because that function is linked with the stock galerie app....I deleted, of course (via a sys app remover from the playstore) ^^
Is there any way of linking a third party app to that Lockscreen Background function so I can access QuickPic and use it for setting up a lockscreen wallpaper?
If you have some programming skill you can edit Nxtlockscreen.apk, where is probably some lines with links to official google aplication. If you can't do this, there is no way. Of course, you can put the gallery back and change a wallpaper.

I loved advanced launcher when i had my vogue. It runs alongside any other launcher, only adds some features i can't seem to find anywhere now, especially the ability to group apps in the drawer into folders WITHIN the app drawer itself...thus, no long lists of apps to scroll through. I was also able to temporarily hide apps that weren't used, putting them into a hidden file. Available to reuse whenever i wanted. Is there any way to bring this to 2.1 or Froyo? Here is the link to the original post of irrenhaus... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540880 (of few of his screenshots below)
or just import utilities portion?
I guess it is possible to include the launcher utilities into another launcher...

(post #879) ...but has anybody attempted this? or is anyone with knowledge willing to try to import it into one of the currently popular launchers that are incorporated into CM6?
really nobody can point me in any direction??
not sure if this is what your looking for, but i posted something that may be related to your request. I'm guessing that advanced launcher is different than ADW.Launcher. if yes, don't forget that adw allows for an extra set of menus by doing an upward swipe over the 'app drawer' icon.

i'm thinking that QuickDesk and/or SmartShortcuts may be of help.
quickdesk basically creates a desktop that is visible after a long press on the search button. you can can access this desktop at any time.
smartshortcuts allow you to 'group' applications, bookmarks and/or contacts.
the link above has some screenshots.

Hi!
Friends, I'm new to the forum and am looking for some ROM that has the option to hide icons, music, files, etc.
Smartphone see more and more as a personal computer, but always have a friend from work, personal friend, a family that wants to move out of curiosity on the smartphone. So look for ROMs that have the option to hide apps, photos, videos, music, files, or all that this smartphone. Example: You want to hide the game Angrybirds for a child to not see him and be done with the device's battery. The ROM would choose to hide the icon so it does not appear in the list of applications and only be accessed through an explorer.
Has anyone thought about it?
Does anyone know of a ROM that has this option?
Thanks,
Roka
Try look for an app on the market. I am sure there is something out there. I don't think (like 99% sure) that a rom doesn't include this. Have a look for an app.
Normally in cyanogenMOD there is an option to hide apps in the app drawer that you don't use often. They are not deleted but are hidden when you simply press app drawer, although they are only one click away from be seen.
CyanogenMod uses ADWLauncher not the default launcher by Google.
download adw launcher from the market. or flash cyanogen mod which comes with adw installed. open your app drawer and click menu. it will say create new catalog. create 1 then choose which apps u want in your hidden catalog
I have tried deleting com.htcstreamplayer.apk from /system/app but the icon in question is still there. I searched on the internet and found a thread talking about the icon is part of htcmusic.apk, so I deleted that too and it is still there.
The persistence of such icons makes me want to free my app drawer of it more badly! So if you can show me how to do it, I am much obliged!
Hello !
I have "upped" the topic because I have the exact same question.
I have rooted my device and was able to delete HTCMusic.apk and a lot more, but I am unable to find which .apk file or which application is launched when the "Videos" icon is pressed.
I would like to froze the application related to that icon. I know it's possible because I've done that for the "Miror" icon (which is in fact a component of the Camera application) in order to make it disappear from the drawer.
Can you help us please ?
Thanks in advance. (Sorry for my English, I'm French).
The solution
Hi all,
I'm sorry to double-post but I've found a solution for those who are still interested (I have an HTC ChaCha, but I believe it also works for Desire HD).
You must download an app remover from the Google Play Store, which includes a feature called "Freeze", and which is able to disable application components.
For example I have paid for ROM ToolBox Pro (it includes the Advanced Freeze feature).
The component used by Video icon is in fact packed into the "Gallery" application : .TabPluginDevice.ActivityAllVideos, you can disable it safely.
After .TabPluginDevice.ActivityAllVideos is disabled, the Videos icon disappears from the drawer.
Just rooted and installed the Absolution ROM and am loving it .
Just a few questions:
I want to change the wallpaper to one of my own, but can't find an option to do it - Or the folder where the 'stock' wallpapers are so I can put my own in there?
I don't want the email alert to go off everytime a push email arrives in Hotmail!! I have the notification sound set to silent for mail, but it seems to return to my default notification sound as soon as an email arrives?
Would ask this in the dev section, but I don't have enough posts to start a new thread!!
Any help??
For wallpaper you can normally change it from your launcher.
Clic on menu (key under the screen), wallpaper, choose Galerie and broose to the one you want on your SD.
This depend of your launcher, it's like this for ADW.
For notification sound, it depends of the mail application you're using I think.
You can define the default no in Sound in Settings (don't remember if you have detail or just global notification sound). Sorry, can't check more as I'm under ICS.

ADW > wallpaper only gives the option to intstall from Absolution wallpapers - No other option. So if I knew where it was storing those pictures I could save my own file in there.
The problem with the mail notification is that I can change the mail notification to silent, but as soon as a new mail comes through it resets itself to the global notification sound.
Cheers anyway.
I can't seem to be able to remove all the extra homescreens so I have to remove all the shortcuts on them one by one. I also can't seem to be able to make folders in the app drawer as any kind of movement on the icon immediately tries to place it as a shortcut on the home screen.
Failing that, what suggestions do you have for alternate launchers or has that feature not been properly implemented yet?
Also why aren't my Google photos restored from online backup showing up in the gallery app?

You can set alternate launchers as default without any issues (need to use navigation buttons instead of gestures by default but there's a workaround) on v3.16 / v4.13.
I use Poco Launcher and these features are supported in that.
The gallery app has a weird sorting order as well that you can modify in its settings, however, if you can see your restored photos in Google Photos, I would recommend changing the default gallery app as well. I use Gallery Go but I think Photos works as a default gallery as well.
