[Q] Unlock Bootloader Wildfire S - HTC Wildfire S

I successfully rooted my Wildfire S 510e but still with S-On and then installed Cyanogen Mod7; I subsequently needed to get the network unlocked so I got the appropriate SIM unlock code and that works. However, every time the phone is rebooted I have to re-enter the SIM unlock code which is annoying. So I looked around and other users suggested I reinstall the stock Gingerbread ROM. I followed the instructions which included relocking the bootloader and then running an RUU.
The bootlocker worked but the RUU failed although the phone still works OK but when I select the Recovery option there's no menu just a red triangle; if I then hold the volume up key and the start button a restricted menu is displayed e.g. install a zip file option is not available.
I've tried the HTCdev Unlock Bootloader but that fails because the Cyanogen ROM doesn't match the expected stock ROM in the RUU.
Questions:
1. Is there a way to unlock the bootloader with Cyanogen Mod7 installed?
2. Can I get the full Recovery menu reinstalled?
Any other tips appreciated.
Thanks

If you have installed cyanogenmod 7, then you have probably unlocked the bootloader and installed the recovery.............if the recovery doesn't show up, try flashing it again via fastboot
And NO, I won't tell you how to because there are countless threads on this all over the forum

Bricked my phone badly

ok so i wanted to get a custom rom my desire hd 2.3.5
at start i have tryed the old way thats in the sticky but that was for 2.3.4 so that didnt work.
what did work was unlocking the bootloader via htc dev site. after that i was clueless.
I've found AAK to root my phone and downgrade so i had used that, but i forgot that the phone was unlocked and it said it had to be locked.
and now the phone is bricked i've tried all possible ways with wiping data and cache but it doesnt work.
i wanted to relock the bootloader with fastboot.
i had entered this command:
fastboot oem lock
but that gave this error
FAILED (status malformed (1 bytes))
so my phone hangs on the boot screen and i cant do anything?
can you guys please help me?
The fact you can get to the bootloader is a great sign, so don't worry! The only time you need to properly panic is when you can't get anything on the screen or even a charge light.
---Double check with someone else that this is correct, but I think this is what you need to do ---
Do you have a custom recovery (i.e clockworkmod)? Can you boot into recovery? Use the volume keys to select recovery, then press the power button. If you get options like "reboot now" and "install zip from sd card" then flash a rom like Android Revolution HD.
If you get a red triangle, find a zip you want to flash and name it "PD98IMG.zip" then put it on the root of the SD card. Reboot to bootloader and it should flash.
If you truly want to relock the bootloader, flash an RUU and it will restore you to stock.

Simply renaming a ROM PD98IMG.zip wont work it needs to be formatted in a certain way, but if the phone is S-OFF, which wasn't mentioned there are certainly PD98IMG's about for a variety of ROMs. But I suspect Tamens suggestion of flashing the appropriate RUU and starting from scratch is going to be quickest way to get sorted
I had this same problem with mine it got stuck trying to boot up but I had no boot loader or I couldn't get into recovery.so download a took called ANDROID FLASHER and reflash the radio ect.my desire hd is now fine.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio X315e using XDA App
well i have tried to flash the ruu but without succes.
ive loaded the PD98IMG.zip on the sd and let the bootloader use it. nothing happened.
also my phone is s-on and could not find a way to go to s-off in recovery mode or boatloader.
Down load the tool above Android flasher.from the tool u can enable fast boot ect from your PC and loads of other stuff.it is a very simple to use and it has loads of folders for recovery, boot loader ect let it do every thing for u.that was the only thing that worked for me
Sent from my HTC Sensation XL
I've tried it but it doesn't work because my phone is s-on...
the description of that utility said that s-off is essential
i am really running out of options..
in short my phone has a unlocked bootloader and after that i've used AAK.
the result is bricked phone with s-on and unlocked bootloader

Help with unroot/root s-off

I'm having difficulties getting s-off on my device. I had my dinc 2 rooted with s-off awhile back, but then decided to go back to stock (not sure why). Anyways, I did the OTA update to the latest version that breaks the old vivow root/s-off method. So in the meantime, I used HTC dev unlock bootloader and installed MIUI 12.9. The problem is, I still have S-on from htc dev unlock and I can't just go into CWM and flash a different kernel to fix the low call volume. So I tried going through the tacoroot method, but I can't get my phone to show up in the bootloader or fastboot usb screen when I do adb devices. Commands such as fastboot reboot work, but trying to do "adb push blah blah" just gives a device not found error. Since I had to relock my device with htc dev and I have MIUI installed, I can't boot the phone up because it just says *security warning* after locking it. How do I flash the stock rom back to the device so I can boot the phone after doing the HTC dev relock or get the phone to show up in adb devices while in the bootloader/fastboot usb screen?
Thanks!

you'll have to use fastbootusb in bootloader or remove card from phone, use your computer to put the PG13IMG, On your card then put back in phone and boot into bootloader

I've tried this, but after the phone recognizes the PG32IMG.zip when it goes into the bootloader, it loads it and then nothing really happens and it just gives me the options like fastboot, recovery, etc (all the normal options). I know before usually it loads and then asks if I want to proceed with the update. Using an older version (Froyo RUU) it said main version is older, but after downloading a gingerbread one, it just loads and then never asks to update and gives no error. Am I doing something wrong here or using the wrong PG32IMG file?

When you get the options try scrolling to fast boot and selecting that.

Tried this with multiple PG32IMG.zip files and a message briefly flashes something about incorrect or missing zip file. Anyway I found an old CWM backup of a stock Froyo setup and since I was still unlocked from HTC Dev's tool, I restored to that, relocked from htcdev unlock, then ran the vivow downgrade script followed by revolutionary's s-off. Working rooted/s-off with MIUI 12.9 and aeroevan .7 bfs kernel!

[Q] Bootloader Wont Unlock Using HTCDev (Multiple Attempts)

I just followed all of the steps to unlock the bootloader through HTCDev, but I'm having trouble in getting it to an unlocked state. Every time I flash the unlock_code.bin in fastboot, it prompts me if I want to unlock the bootloader, I select yes and the device formats and restarts. After I go through the initial setup again and enable usb debugging to reboot into fastboot, the status of the phone is still locked. Is there some step I missed to unlock this phone or is there a problem with HTCdev?

I had trouble when I unlocked mine, but not with what you're describing. When I received my initial unlock code, I had done the HTCdev method with choosing one (M8) for my phone and the file would not flash. I re-ran HTCdev choosing "all other devices" and everything worked like a charm. Worth a shot.
I ended up getting it working by downloading the latest software update and trying again. I was just trying to get a GPE rom on here quickly because sense was aggravating me so much. Hopefully this helps anyone else that ends up having this problem!
Remember to get s-off first

It sounds like that is already bootloader unlocked. Boot into recovery and see if it's stock or not. If recovery is stock, you need to install twrp or cwm then you can flash a rom. If one of those is already there you're ready to flash a rom already. Instructions on installing recoveries and roms, etc are here in the forums if you do a quick search.
thankssomuch
awesome..after updating to 4.4.4 ,everything worked like charm....thanks a zillion:good::laugh::laugh::laugh:

RUU Problems Cant install OR get into Recovery :(

OK Got htc one m9, had stock software from 3UK rooted, TWRP installed. Then I installed AICP Oreo. Now I wish to return to stock. I relocked the bootloader & downloaded an ruu file. From that point as soon as the phone rebooted I can not enter TWRP, nor can I get adb access via PC. All I did was rename the ruu to 0PJAIMG.zip put in root of SD.Now I get a message when rebooted RU_CID_FAIL cid in android-info mismatched. Selecting Vol+ & Pwr gives me reboot to bl, download or recovery options. Selecting recovery gives a "failed to boot to recovery" message.Selecting download gives me the download menu." Googling doesnt really help me. Expert advice would be MASSIVELY appreciated
Update, unlocked bl again. Have AICP working again AND TWRP but still cant get back to stock grrrrr
Thanks
John
Check your cid and mid are correct for the file you are trying to flash.
There is always the fact you locked the bootloader with a custom recovery on it. You can only lock again if the phone is completely stock (except bootloader and s-off status).

Thank you. Yes you were spot on. I ended up unlocking the bl again and everything went smooth from there. Cheers
