As above. Chrome is terrible.
Android 4.4's WebView component is Chronium, which is almost the same as Chrome.
Browser.apk uses WebView.
You can try other WebView browsers in the Play Store such as Naked Browser and it will also have terrible rendering and scrolling speed.
Sorry, I actually mean the AOSP browser. Will the 4.3 apk work? Has anyone tried?
The 4.3 one won't work, tried it on the n5 port a while back

Just extract it from a CM11 rom.
Try this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2510676&page=2
Works like a charm for me. I must say that I truly hate Chrome. I mean sure, it has some cool features but It's the most laggy and choppy browser I've ever used! Pinch to zoom and scrolling is a pure nightmare. There was a time it looked like it was getting better, but then again 3 last updates just made it worse.

That one still has issues. I think we may have to wait for 4.4 to get an update and be pushed out to AOSP.
Yeah, I've just noticed that address field doesn't disappear as it's supposed to. Anyway, I am gonna have to stick with that until it gets updated. Cannot stand laggy browsers

Please someone link the apk.. My god I can't even work out what's happening at the moment.. I installed aosp browse from the play store app installer and it's unusable.. Double tapping then scrolling everything going smaller, all the writing goes way over the edge of the screen

Thanks but it's still the same, all browsers become chrome. Aosp browser just doesn't work when signed in on xda.. Just jumps about.
It's a great step forward typing this in giant text in chrome that goes off the screen edge of the screen still. Gonna have to go back to 4.3 as 99%of my use on this phone is browsing the internet, and I can't handle this.

If you prefer the AOSP browser to Samsung's browser like me, use the attached CWM file.
Reasons why AOSP Browser is better:
- Easier to close tabs, just swipe them to the side
- Better bookmarks interface
- Adress bar not cluttered, no unnecessary buttons
- Feels faster (to me)
- Black interface, so looks nicer (to me)
Important tip 1: If after flashing the browser force closes, you need to clear browser data after rebooting.
Settings->Applications Manager->All->Browser->Clear Data
Important tip 2: If your google bookmarks disappeared, simply sync browser bookmarks again and they'll come back.
Browser is taken from CM10, so thanks to TeamHacksung.

I am using it right now, it works great but I like more the one in paranoidandroid it has a better "ui" (menu bar, tabs) and maybe is a little more updated...
Just flashed on mostky stock att note2, works perfect, thanks. Had to clear data, no big deal.
4/17 - I've now updated it to a flashable zip, you get the S4 launcher and S4 weather widget
I love AOSP roms for the customizability and I also really like the touchwiz launcher so after many, many trials and errors and having to learn how to use apktool to decompile and build apk's i've modded the touchwiz launcher to work for AOSP roms. I know this isn't anything new since it's been done before, what makes this different is the homescreen is a 4x5 layout and the app drawer is 4x6 with a fully themed S4 Accuweather widget. I know a lot of you use custom launchers and this is not your cup of tea, this is for those who like the look of a stock launcher with a custom aosp rom.
The S4 weather widget really gave me a hard time, and because I was just learning it took me a very long time to get it to work but i've finally figured it out and it should work without any problems. Please note that in order to avoid a widget display problem I had to make the widget thumbnail in the app drawer transparent. It shows up just fine once you apply it.
I'll welcome any feedback and all I ask for is a thanks if you like it.
This should be compatible on any AOSP, CM10.1 based roms. I am personally using LiquidSmooth stable version.
Please make a backup and use at your own risk

It's now flashable!

Flash in recovery
Reboot and enjoy!

I'd like to give credit to dr30ma for the original s4 weather widget for the I9300 from which I ported over to work with our device. Also, thanks to Andybones for the universal flasher tool I used.

S4 SecLauncher finished
Wasn't too bad porting the s4 launcher to work. I'm using a TW rom at this very moment so i'm unable to test it on an AOSP rom so if I have any volunteers i'll post the link to the launcher. If you've already installed the launcher from this post then you will just replace the SecLauncher2.apk in /system/app with this one. Rename your original something like SecLauncher.bak just in case you wanna go back to it you could just rename it back to original. This one also has a 4x5 homepage and a 4x6 menu layout.

Don't forget to remove the "s4" from s4SecLauncher2.apk after you copy it over or else it won't work.

I know what's happening...I forgot to include the badgeprovider.apk which notifies you when you get a text and you'll keep getting force closes without it. I'll upload it here in a second. Just push it to /system/app and fix permissions, and reboot and you'll be good to go. I'll fix the original package and upload it seperately for you so you don't have to download the whole thing again.
Download BadgeProvider.apk
Almost forgot to mention, this will just fix the s3 launcher force closing not the s4 launcher. Still need time to figure it out the s4 launcher on AOSP, works fine in Touchwiz.

Older gallery.ak works
To enable photosphere.. Works on CM10.1..
1. download new camera and rename it to gallery2.apk
2. using file manager copy and replace old gallery2.apk in /system/app with new one
3.set permissions to rw-r--r--
4. reboot phone
5. Just install like normal application new gallery2.apk that stayed (where you downloaded it to phone) after copying
Just to say that this replace CM10.1 gallery so make backup of same
And for those that complaining about bad stitching in photosphere-because i saw that people using this in room and small places- i think that i saw somewhere that minimum distance of objects is 9 meters to get a good stitching-maybe in application hints itself i think
TRY THIS :
So i tried many zip files, all failed.
Try this one. Works. Created myself, took zips of the internet and copied files across into one.
IMPORTANT!!!
Delete ALL Gallery.apk and GMSCore.apk from SYSTEM !!
WILL NOT WORK OTHERWISE

Which aspects? I've tried an aops cyanogenmod rom and the camera wanst bad at all talking about pictures, there was a lack of filters but I can live without them. I've been using 4.2.2 AOSP Roms for a while and the feature that I miss the most from Sense is the camera. The lack of features and of quality in this camera is not comparable to the Sense camera app. You can try for yourself and see what you'll miss, maybe you won't even miss anything, but I surely do.

After testing a few days i can produce really nice sphere`s. there is only one problem left at all.
Below you can see a screenshot right after i enable photosphere.... as you can see the horizon is wrong also it is tilted a little bit "backwards". Even with this weird behavior i can produce pretty nice photos/spheres.
IT MAKES ME MAD
it is not perfect and as long it isen`t perfect in am sad :-/ I callibrate g-sensor with gps-status (best opinion i know).... camera dosen`t care. whatever i set the sensor ..... its allways the same: horizon and little tilt.
Plz gimme a hint if you know a solution!

Here, aosp browser ui Tablet with Xposed Installer
This is a build of Launcher3 from AOSP corrected to properly display icons and folders in Landscape. "Properly" is a bit of a misnomer. I fixed it by reducing the size of icons for Flo. I think the correct fix is deeper than that, but haven't found that yet. Anyway, it doesn't cut icons off and works pretty well.
Things to know:
- This is the 4.4 Launcher, but it is not the GEL. There is no Google Now integration at all. (and the long-press Settings icon does nothing)
- The Quick Search Bar will not display after you switch to Landscape. Pressing Home while in Landscape makes it pop up.
UPDATE: The apk linked below is more current than the one attached. It's built with no minSdk restriction and should work on 4.2 or above. (It definitely needs 4.2)
http://www.mediafire.com/?4roil3438gbz6qk
Forgot to mention that this is built for minSdkVersion=19 (4.4) because that is what it's set to in AOSP. I don't actually know if that affects installing from an APK, but I can probably build it for 18 if anyone wants. That should work since it does for the GEL. (I know it needs 16 at least from things I noticed playing around in it)

There's a link to an APK with no version limitation in the OP. I've been told it doesn't install on CM 10.2, but I was able to install (but not run) it on my ICS phone. (I have no devices with JB installed currently.) And again, it does absolutely need 4.2.

Sorry. Not sure what was wrong with that apk. Updated the link with one which I'm 99% sure will work, and including it below. I tested this one on my Stock 4.3 N7 and it does work. (No transparency) There's no reason it shouldn't on 4.4. It's technically modded a bit, but that's all mostly broken and disabled in this build. I'll be releasing that soon.

Yes, But note this has None of the Google Now Integration.
I can also confirm that the medfiafire linked APK works fine on Stock 4.4.
Thank you very much dude!!! It was exactly what I was looking for after the 4.4 update on my nexus 7!
Nice one thanks
Installed on cm10.2
Google released the launcher earlier today. It has full Now integration and all the bugs seem to be gone. Works beautifully on my N7 and S3.

I can't get it to work right in landscape though (the wallpaper gets cut off). Has anyone found a solution for this?

That happens to me on my S3. It usually fixes itself after a minute or so. On my N7 it's perfectly fine. Are you using the latest versions that I posted above?
Anyone else still prefer launcher2. I like trebuchet and Nova launcher much more.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Yeah but sometimes widgets and apps overlap the Google Search bar.
